I have very oily and unfortunately very sensitive skin. It is really difficult for me to find products that are strong and effective enough to combat occasional blemishes but also don't burn my skin or cause irritation or itching. When I was younger, I was able to use benzoyl peroxide products, but then I took two rounds of Accutane in my mid 20's that made me forever ultra-sensitive! So after an exhaustive search, I have found that products that have sulfur and zinc seem to work the best for me with minimal to no irritation -- and they work fairly quickly! I have always been very happy with this particular brand and this particular product. No matter how many others I might try, I always come back to this. I am also a fan of beta hydroxy acid (BHA) and even salicylic acid, but again, with sensitive skin, I have to be a little cautious of irritation. It really helps to KNOW your ingredients and READ the labels -- and STICK to what works!

This is a decent product to use on acne that need to be dried out but aren't too red. Of the sulphur based product I have used this is great- perfect for night time use. I believe the package says you can use it during the day but it leaves a white powdery residue behind once it dries so might not be the best idea. I don't have that many acne break out at the moment, but this is perfect for the rare occasion that they do show up. I have been using it when necessary for 2 years and plan to repurchase when I need to.

This is a great acne spot treatment. I works especially well on deep cystic acne.

This is a great product, the best spot treatment I've ever used. It doesn't make your pimples to go away in one night but it reduces the redness and relieves the pain. My pimples heal much faster! It doesn't help to get rid of black/whiteheads BUT it makes them very easy to squeese out :) Got clear skin with this product, couldn't be happier. It doesn't dry out or irritate my sensitive skin. I use it once a day before going to sleep and wash it off in the morning before putting make-up on.
One lippie off because of the smell though, it smells disgusting, like dill weed or something.

This spot treatment is one of the most effective I have ever used. If I put it on a pimple at night, the pimple is smaller in the morning. That being said, it only works for cystic pimples, not for whiteheads or blackheads. Additionally the pimple is generally still there in the morning, but you can't expect an over the counter product to complexity eliminate a huge cystic pimple. I have had the best results using this on a cystic pimple while it is forming, to prevent it from getting larger while eliminating it. The yellow color means you can only treat pimples when you are staying inside, but it doesn't bother me because I use the Murad cover up to treat during the day. Just remember to look in the mirror before you go out, so that you don't have random hello spots on your face.

Murad does not work at all on my acne. It made my skin oily and gross. It smells like dill weed. Hated it. Will not buy again.

I use a lot of the products in the acne line but this is one of my faves. I have battled acne on and off since I was a teen and as an adult I developed acne on my chin and jawline. I have used tea tree, Oxy creams, BP, Clearasil,Salycylic Acids etc but nothing has worked to really treat and prevent.
This has become a staple in my acne fighting regime. I don't know what in the world I would do without it. I only use it at night (mostly all over my chin and jawline) to prevent any new zits from appearing. In the instruction pamphlet I received with the 30 day acne kit I purchased it mentions to only use a small amount and to dab it on the zits. I find if I use too much of this then it tends to make the skin flake. Very important to dab it on and not rub it in..it seems to soak in better by dabbing.
t smells awful which is a big con in my opinion, but for the effectiveness of it I can put up with having my pillow smell like matches.
I can say that it does work as I went about 2 months wihout using it because I ran out of the product. I noticed I started getting zits again on my chin and nothing was preventing them. I ordered some more of this and noticed zits starting to clear up again.I put it on overnight and by the morning the size and redness has diminished significantly.
Definetly a product I will keep ordering!

I'm still if-fy about this... For me, I find that sulfur (which is Murad Acne Spot Treatment's active ingredient) tends to work better than BP, but this has been a hit/miss for me so far. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I usually apply this at night on the smaller pimples- right when they are starting to form. when i wake up, sometimes the pimple is still there, sometimes it's not. I never know.
But once the pimple has formed (or has turned into a cyst), I KNOW this will NOT WORK.
I have also applied this in the morning- under makeup. but you have to be careful not to "rub" it, cause it'll turn into that eraser-rubber. and you can't apply too much cause (although it's green when wet), it dries white and matte - which looks really weird when people see you from an angle.
People complain about the smell, but i don't really smell anything. However, I do agree that it's a little expensive (given that it doesn't work 100%). If you can, try to get the "trial" size. I have seen them sell it inside the fishbowl jars next to the counter. it's more than enough and it's convenient to keep inside your makeup bag - to use immediately once you find a zit when you're out.
so, my verdict, I would recommend buying the trial size - cause this works for new zits. (and if you don't know whether you're a sulfur or a BP person, you can try both. for example, i'll use this in the morning and BP in the evening.) but i wouldn't get the regular size one cause a) you don't need so much and b) it doesn't work on formed zits .

I have very dry skin and I don't have serious acne, so I don't know how it would work for that. However, this is called a spot treatment and works perfectly for that. I occasionally get a spot here or there, but I very rarely use acne products because whatever the ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, retinol, they're all WAY too drying and leave me with red, flaky spots that are worse than just an acne spot. This caught my attention because the active ingredient is sulfur, and I figured I might as well give it a try. It's AMAZING!!! Any spot I get clears up overnight and my skin is not dried out at all. It's also clear so I can easily wear it alone or under foundation/concealer. This is the only acne product I've ever had luck with, I'll definitely repurchase, but I think this will easilly last me to the expiration date, 2013. You really don't need much and I also don't break out much. It's also fragrance free and doesn't have that harsh alcohol feel/smell that most acne treatments have. I've found my HG <3 continued >>

This spot treatment contains sulfur... which I have found to be a great ingredient... despite the smell sometimes. As with most acne products, works best when applied at onset. When I applied on a fully-formed pimple, it only made things worse by drying the area directly on top of it and sometimes irritated it to the point of increased redness. I prefer to use the refining mask (which also contains sulfur). You can use the mask as a spot treatment overnight and you can just wash it off. I think that works as well for healing the blemish but without the irritating side effects of the spot treatment. Gave it a 3 because it works (in some aspects) but the side effects turned me off and there's other alternatives.

I don't know what this can do for serious or cystic acne, probably not a lot, but this works well on those random bulging pimples that people with an otherwise clear face can get (and that includes me). I've had this product for a very long time, yet I felt compelled to review it today because I recently started working out again and got a huge red zit on my forehead which I suspect I got from resting my forehead on the mat (over a towel) while doing prone cobras. It got so big that I had to "expel" it. And that just made it worse, redder, and impossible to hide with make-up. But then I used this stuff (aggressively, like 3 times a day for a day and a half) and it dried it up so fast. Like, overnight. Then it peeled, completely flattened out, and faded. (Too much information, huh?) But I also treated it with liquid erythromycin and used my Retin A like I normally do. Still, this stuff comes in handy when swiping with liquid erythromycin doesn't do the job fast enough. Especially if you apply it on an "open" pimple. Icky, but true. It lasts a long time too. I've had mine for like over 2 years and it's half full and still works perfectly. But it does not work so well on hormonal chin break outs. (Does anything apart from Retin A?)
Anyway, when it runs out, I would definitely buy it again. And by the way, I don't apply this when I'm stepping out. I apply it generously when I'm at home directly on the pimple, and it shows. Rubbing it in and then going out is a) less effective and b) will show, because the stuff crusts a little bit.

I am generally a fan of Murad products, but this just does not do anything for me. I do not notice any improvements.

this is good for really small blemishes... but it wasn't quite powerful enough for my worse breakouts around that time of the month.

I think this product is great for drying up small pimples without overdrying the skin. When I have a large breakout, using this product alone is not effective. However, when I use this product on nights that I do not use my salicylic or benzoyl peroxide creams, I find that it reduces redness and overtime reduces the size of pimples. It is not a miracle product and it won't reduce things overnight. I think sulfur (the main ingredient in this product) is great for individuals with mild acne breakouts who don't want to dry their skin out. My tube has lasted me for more than a year. If I ever run out, I think I would repurchase.

This is a reasonable product for people who suffer from mild acne, and only plan on treating a few small-medium sized pimples.
PROS: (1) non offensive odor. The sulfur ingredient is not overwhelming and fades within minutes after application. (2) treats small-midsize pimples reasonable well. I noticed a difference for some almost instantly, but it typically took about 3 nights for results to be prominent. (3) Great packing, it’s small, simple, and not wasteful. For effective for releasing and applying product, and it’s small enough to discreetly carry around.
CONS: (1) Not very effective on larger pimples. (2) The sulfur ingredient is not strong enough in this particular formulation for my needs. It would be ideal if they had a gentle and strong formulation of this, since sulfur is so effective at treating acne. (3) Does not sit well under makeup. (4) Has a tendency to flake off after drying, this not consistently treating acne while applied. (5) No soothing ingredients such as Kaolin, to reduce redness while treating inflammation.
Overall, this is a descent product, but I have used better products for treating acne. In my experience, I found that Dermalogica made a superior version (also using sulfur)- although more expensive. Regardless, I would still recommend it to those planning on treating a few odd spots.
I paid $18 CAD at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Happy Shopping!

I found this product to be very effective. Worked really well on my hard to treat pimples. I do have to say that the smell is really bad. Smells like glue and don't try putting makeup over it. That meaned to not work to well for me.

I have tried so many spot treatments all with differing results, some do nothing, some leave you with horrific dry patches, some work for a while and then stop.
I have found with this one that it works fantastically if you apply it when you first have a spot forming but not so great on existing spots. If you get it early it totally shrinks it and it goes away in about 3 days, for those I miss and get to turn into full blown spots I have found it doesn't do a lot.
It doesn't make my skin dry which is a big bonus and I know other reviewers have commented on the smell, I smell the sulfur myself but I don't think it's that strong and others haven't smelt it on me.
Overall a pretty good treatment that stops spots in their tracks if you get them as they are just forming.

I bought this as a sample package with their clarity face wash. The face wash is nice, but nothing special. I had heard very good things about the acne treatment, which is why I bought the package. I'm thankful I just bought the sample. At first, I thought "YAY, this is so going to work for me!", but it didn't it. It did help with tiny pimples that were trying to become monster zits, but my deep, painful, embarrassing cystic acne is not any better. It's not even helping to bring them to the surface and making them easier to clear up. Also, the sulfur smell becomes overbearing. I didn't mind it at first because I use Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque and one of the key ingredients is sulfur. However, after repeated use with this I can actually taste it because I use it near my mouth! YUCK! At any rate, I'm off to search for my HG because I need to get head shots done so I have got to get rid of this hot mess!

This product totally saved my skin!!!!
I use to have many pimples, on my forehead and on my chin every.single.day. I was so embarrassed and nothing seemed to work, neither peroxide benzoyle nor salicylic acid, neither creams nor treatments nor cleansers....
I have been struggling with bad skin for years people, years. My acne wasn't severe enough for dermatologist-strong treatments, yet it was bad, pus-fillid super red creepers. HUH.
Then, out of total boredom, without any hope, I picked up Murad treatment cuz it has sulfur, which I hadn't tried yet to treat my face.
*Within 2 days, my skin cleared up.*
I've had barely any new pimple, only a very few tiny ones on my forehead---which is a HUGE improvement.I know it's a little shallow but my mood has improved *alot* and i sometimes go to work without any makeup on...
The product stinks, but if I layer it with a nice moisturizer ( i use neutrogena acne-stress relief gel), I barely notice it. also, no more discolored towels and pillow cases since I don't use peroxyde benzoyle anymore, yay!
Yes, it is kinda expensive, 18$ for the teeniest bottle, but the product is so liquid, you need very little to cover your T zone. Bought mine 2 months ago and it's still a third-full.
my skin regimen: Purity made simple, followed by a homemade toner of water+apple-cider vinegar, then Murad treatment, then Neutrogena acne-stress-relief moisturizer gel. If my skin feels dryer, I'll use Olay moisturizer.
AM NOW PIMPLE-FREE YAY!!!!!!!!
