This cream smells horrible, kind of like sunblock and cigarette ashes mixed together. It makes my skin look okay, maybe a little bit dull. Parts of my face tingle when I put it on for an hour or so.
Not worth the money.

I don't like it. I have a generous sample of it and I decided to try it, although I use Clarins UV Plus SPF 40 for a couple of years and I like it (so, I am not looking for a new sunscreen).
I have heard mainly raves about this Kanebo sunscreen but I don't care for it. It is sticky and makes the skin matte in a bad way (dull, bad looking..). I also have an unpleasant feeling on my face when I use it - doesn't make me comfortable and my foundation doesn't look very good on the top of it. Would not purchase.

This sunscreen could be considered as a Japanese rendition of Clinique's legendary City Block but, unlike many copies, this one actually works BETTER than the original. Unlike City Block, which is way too greasy and whitish for my skin, Day Defence is so light yet effective. I have combo skin, so I need my products to be extremely light yet consistent, and this one works it right. Being completely oil free, it won't leave my skin glossy and oily; as for the defending properties, despite the reasonably high SPF, it doesn't leave any white cast on my skin. The downside to this product is that it's so expensive and honestly I wouldn't throw so much money on a sunscreen.

Pros: The only sunscreen that actually made my face matt or at least didn't make it any oilier during summer months (I live in the mediterrenean).
Cons: This is very expensive (80euros for 75 ml). Also, full of parabens which are lately being pulled off many products due to some tests proving them to be dangerous for health. So, as much as I like its cosmetic use, I don't intend to buy it again.

This is hands down the best sunscreen that I've used. While I wish that it could have had a slightly higher SPF, this stuff is still the best sunscreen that I've tried. There are so many other sunscreens that I've used and many of them don't smell too much like sunscreen, there's still that hint of sunscreen smell that I smell on my face and hands when I apply. This sunscreen does not smell like sunscreen at all and works great as a daytime moisturizer for me. It doesn't leave a whitish cast on my skin nor does it feel too greasy or heavy like a lot of other sunscreens. While I don't like the price very much, I think this is one that I will have to suck up and purchase until I can find a cheaper alternative that works just as well.

I am really liking this. It somewhat controls oily patches, is very soft and comfortable. The consistency is pleasant too. The price is not though. But I will repurchase.

I am a fan of kanebo, although I mostly use organic products now, if I need something, big brand wise, I know I can rely on Kanebo.
They are always very gentle and have never caused break outs. After finishing off my kiehl and other Kanebo sunscreen I decided to try this one.
I actually tried this ages ago when my mum was using this. Anyway it is suppose to defend, whighten the skin as well as prevent it from aging. I am not sure if they deliver all this but one thing for sure, it is very gentle and the consistency is excellent. When I use sunscreen I always end up with oily skin but this keeps all the oils at bay throughout the day. It feels comfortable and doesn't break me out.
The packaging is a silver coloured bottle which you squeeze. The cap can get slightly messy but its not hugely problematic.
Very expensive for the quantity but you dont use much so it lasts about six month for me. Although its a great sunscreen, I cannot stop thinking that its more for my mother's generation than mine. The fragrance and the texture is very mumsy in my book so I wont repurchase.

I really wanted to like this product after reading all the rave reviews. Much as I tried (even bought a second bottle when the first one is almost finished) I have to say this sunscreen does not work, for me at least. For starter, it does not absorb but just sits on my skin and rubs off like dead skin after I have applied it. The worse part is after 2 weeks walking around under the sun in Europe with a thick layer of this sunscreen the pigment on my cheek which had been lightened by IPL procedure before the summer became darker. Obviously the ridiculous price of this sunscreen is not a reflection of its effectiveness.

This is the best sunscreen i have ever used. My skin is oily/ combination and i have just got into the habit of using a sunscreen as i use vit-c products and AHA serums. I have tried loads of them, none of them made me feel this great. This emulsion is completely oil free, leaves no white cast, no oilyness/greasiness. It does leave quite a matt finish and my oily skin loves it. The price is the only downside to thsi product, its so expensive. But if you are olive skined, oily/combo and looking for a spf more than 20 go for this one. This is my HG.

This is the most amazing sunscreen I have ever encountered in my life. I'd long accepted that anything that actually functioned as a sunscreen (as opposed to products which merely have SPF but would require three times the normal amount used to work as an SPF) would smell like sunscreen, including my favorite Jan Marini sunblock which, while it smells better than most, still has that sunblock stink. Well, this stuff doesn't. It smells like Clarins night creams... yummm! On top of that, it's oil-free and has an incredibly light consistency which is easy to spread and absorbs *immediately* leaving a slightly matte finish behind. It does not interfere with makeup at all and since it's so thin, no worries about it causing foundation to slide in the summer. It's hideously expensive though. My mother paid over $100 USD for a bottle which resembles a small bottle of nail polish remover. But if you can afford it, and are looking for an unbelievable sunscreen, you must have this!
