I tried this for the first time the other day. The moisturizing benefits were good but hardly impressive. That didn't kill it for me because I'm not nearly as dry in the summer as I am in the winter. So this could be a nice warm weather hand cream. The smell is what killed this for me. Upon application, the smell was pretty at first. It reminded me of the fragrant pink roses that grew in my family's yard as a child. Within a minute it became totally rancid and sour smelling! It was unbearable, almost like urine! I hate that it turned that way because I really wanted to love this. They should make this fragrance free.

This works really well for me with one caveat: use it BEFORE your hands get cracked. When I used it on my already cracked hands it burned. That said, used preventatively this product worked very well for me and my hands get as dry as parchment in the winter.

I have to admit, I'm pretty rough with my hands. When I need a quick repair after realizing how dry and rough my hands are, I use a dab of Time On Your Hands and voila!, my hands are soft and smooth. It's quickly absorbed and non-greasy. The only complaint I have would be the smell - kind of plasticy and stink.

I got this with a kit for travel to DisneyWorld. I packed it thinking I wouldn't use it. I was wrong. I used it and Soul Owner constantly. One night, I had a bit too much on so, without thinking, I swiped a smidge under my eyes. I have terrible undereye dryness and puffiness. Imagine my shock when I discovered this makes a helluva eye cream. Better than Hope in a Tube for sure. My undereye area is smooth and a tad less puffy (nothing will take away genetic bags). My hands are smooth too. As a hand cream, this could be expensive and there ARE other products out there just as good (Gold Bond lotion, for one). As an eye cream, it's killer. I'm stocking up.

I've been using this for a week. I train horses for a living, so I'm outside all day and I have a helluva tan! I have dry hands as I never put lotion on during the day. I'm riding, or cleaning stalls, or giving horses a bath.....no point putting lotion on. It's gone in a second. I've started putting Time on My Hands on my hands at night. Yesterday I noticed that there is literally a line separating my hands from my wrist.....my hands are smoother looking then look at my wrist and arms and they look different! Almost like someone surgically removed my hands and put someone else's hands with nicer skin on my arms. I didn't realize how damaged my skin was until yesterday. This stuff is too expensive to put on my arms, shoulders, neck and everywhere the sun hits me, so I think I'll try Paula's Choice BHA lotion or something. But I do recommend this product as I can see it works!

This is really nice stuff! It really softened my hands; I go rock climbing often, so I have pretty developed calluses. I need the calluses for climbing so I was worried that using this stuff would break them down, but not so (which in retrospect may not be a plus to others)! It just made my hands touchably soft and smooth, and made me happy. :) Unfortunately also from climbing chalk I have some flaky skin at my finger tips, and it didn't help much with that. All in all a great product though, and one jar should last you a while.

I really love this hand lotion. In just about a week, with the use of the 1 oz tube that comes with the Birthday Girl set, I have noticed a difference in my hands. My ragged cuticles and dry, rough, partially callused sides of thumbs, have healed, and the top of my hands doesn't look as dry or old. I'm 37 now and have protected my face and neck vigiliantly, but my hands have been rather neglected. Many other hand creams and lotions haven't done much for me, but in using this at night, I have really seen a difference. The cream itself is not oily, sinks in well and is thick/rich without being greasy. I like the nice lavender/eucalyptus smell - it makes my room smell nice at night, too. The price is also very reasonable. I am definitely buying a larger size when the 1 oz tube runs out, as I did with the foot cream (Soul Owner) as well. Really great product.

I don't have dry hands, but was looking for an anti-aging product for the back of my hands. I use this every night before I go to bed, and that's enough to keep my hands hydrated the next day. My cuticles have also been much better since I started using this. They were quite ragged and sore before.

Not that this is such a bad product, but I just don't see any specific results. I keep the pot I received as a gift in my desk at work and dip in for a small fingerful throughout the day. Using this small of an amount allows for just a thin layer all over, and I'm typing again without any greasies in less than a minute. In fact, I applied some at the start of this review, and it's almost soaked in all the way. There's definitely a barrier, though; feels like it's loaded with lots of silicones. This doesn't particularly smell like chemicals to me--more like the "ozone" scent someone else mentioned. Not special, but not unpleasant. Would not repurchase due to the price and unsanitary jar, however, I'll use this up.

This is my overnight staple hand lotion. I wash my hands multiple times with industrial soap at work. My hands were starting to look "weathered". I started using this lotion about a year ago, and skin feels great and looks healthy. Did not give 5 lippies because of scent. It smells awful, kinda of chemical or medical. However, it works great for me, and I continue to repurchase!

Great nighttime treatment, but I'm not sure that a cheaper product couldn't deliver the same results. Here's my breakdown: ~35 thick two full-hand applications. $18.50/35 = 52 cents per application. Could be worth it in the winter if your hands are like mine and crack and bleed without TLC. Also perhaps worth it as a pampering gift for a loved one!

I'm surprised by all the bad reviews on this hand cream. I've been using it for almost two years and I'm quite pleased with it. I think my hands look nice and smooth and young (I'm 35). I do agree it's thick and heavy therefore I only use it at bedtime (it IS stated as a P.M. treatment right on the tube) and I do generally pull on a pair of cotton gloves after application. I guess if wearing gloves to bed is not your idea of a fun-filled night, then you should steer clear of this. I try to use it every other night...if I use it more frequently, my dermatitis tends to act up (I think the glycolic acid irritates it). I like what it does for the rough spots on my feet but socks are a must if you go that route. I don't mind the smell but one thing I have noticed is it stings like f**k if you happen to apply it on a wound such as a paper cut...OUCH!! Other than that, it's all good for me although I do wish the retail price was lower.

Heavy, greasy and smells bad. It does soften, but that's a lot to get past for soft skin. I much prefer Smith's Rosebud Salve for hand softening.

This hand cream does not sink in for a long time, possibly an hour or so after I apply it, but in the morning my hands are heavenly soft. It softens my cuticles and hands very nicely. I do not keep it at the sink or in my purse... I use it only at night, last thing before I go to sleep. You would not want to use this and then read, for example, unless you want fingerprints all over your book! As far as the scent goes, I have never been bothered by the fragrance. Mine smells faintly floral. It must depend on the batch of hand cream, which is a bit odd. :)

This product is a tough one for me to review. It's a great product if: (1) you can get past the medicinal smell and (2) you don't have to touch anything or do anything with your hands for a good hour after you apply it. I realize its a "hand cream", not a "lotion", so I guess I shouldn't really expect it to sink in immediately. When I use it, I apply it in bed after I've completed the rest of my nighttime ritual. That way it can sink on overnight & I'm not too bothered by it. When I do this, it *does* work well, but it's generally such a hassle that I forget it or don't even feel like bothering. continued >>

I hate this stuff. I was wondering what all the buzz was about so I bought a kit to try a bunch of philosophy products and have been wholly unimpressed by almost all of it. Now I wonder even more, though some of the shower products are nice. Anyway, this cream was the worst of the bunch. It didn't make my hands look any better. It just made them extremely greasy. Seriously the stuff just lays on top of your skin so I wouldn't use it in the morning, as suggested on the package. In fact I wouldn't use it at all and will probably just toss the rest out. And yes, the smell is awful. In conclusion, ineffective, greasy, smelly, and expensive.

Not to be applied if you want a fragrance booster! The medicinal smell doesn't bother me. I kind of like the ozone nuance it has. Meant to be used as an overnight treatment, but I use it all day. For the price and quantity, I prefer Vanicream. Not a treatment but moisturizer. Cheap and feels great!

I gave this the lowest rating because after patiently using up the tube and expecting a miracle, my hands are in worse shape than they were before I started it. Given, I can be hard on my hands with gardening and all, but I was using Burt's Bees banana hand cream before I switched to this and now my hands are drier, with some peeling and my cuticles are crustier and more hangnail-prone. I also agree that it doesn't smell good, which is weird since philosophy puts out so many yummy-smelling things. I like to use a lotion at night with a soothing smell, and this is not soothing.

Very thick weird consistency and medicine smell. Not something I would use. I got it as a gift and am probably throwing it out.

Did nobody else have an incident with getting this cream in your eyes?? The first time I used this, I accidentally rubbed my eye while falling asleep and it immediately started stinging SEVERELY and inflamed my entire eyelid into a puffy golf-ball sized mess!! It took three days for my eye to deflate!! That said, the lotion seems fine--it does have a bland chemical/sour smell, and the texture is thick but not greasy, though it takes a minute to work in. However, I can't attest to the exfoliating powers as I am now terrified to touch the stuff again! Keep away from the eyes!!!!!
