This is the second MAC lipstick I've tried, and I'm in love. This color is incredible, the finish is absolutely NOT a traditional "frost," and this has a very comfortable weight. Best of all - no bleeding. I can't believe I'm only discovering this now.

I really wanted to like this one. It's a very pretty color that shows up quite bright. My problem is that it fades fast, which is unlike other MAC frost lipsticks that generally last all day. It leaves a hideous pink ring around my lips when it fades. Gunna send it back!

This lipstick is awesome and perfect when I'm in the mood to wear a bright lip, but don't want anything to bold. On my fair complexion it shows up as a rosy red with soft pink shimmer. Looks fantastic paired with a neutral eye and pink blush.

I only bought this because of a SA reccomendation to put this on top of Ruby Woo.. and she was right. I never wear this alone. On top of Ruby Woo it adds a more amped up Red.

This is the first "frost" lipstick I've ever bought from MAC and I have to say that I am delighted with it. MAC seems to have mastered making frosted products (for eyes, cheeks and lips) that are not garish or glaring; rather the frost just imparts a softness and light to the product so that even more "mature" women like me can achieve a flattering look with these products.
New York Apple is a very pretty, very wearable pinkish red. It's not a difficult red to wear (not like Ruby Woo or some of MAC's other very bright or very dark reds). The frost seems to add a lightness to it that further keeps it looking too dark or extreme. This lipstick also seems to wear and last very well. I just got this the other day and I've worn it non-stop since. My husband, who doesn't like vampy red lips (and will comment if he thinks I'm wearing a red lipstick that is too harsh looking) commented on how pretty and refreshed I look when I came in wearing this (nice guy, no?). I know corals and orange shades are big for spring this year but speaking as someone who has never liked those shades and doesn't look good in them, New York Apple is a GREAT shade for springtime because it does look so bright and fresh!
UPDATE: Now that autumn is here, this continues to be a fantastic lipstick shade for this time of year. New York Apple is a total winner!

My favorite red lipstick is long discontinued: Revlon Velvet Touch Moonlit Wine. That red was a combo of slightly sheer muted plummy red lipstick with lots of gold shimmer to warm it up. The balance of warm and cool makes it perfect for me.
.
New York Apple is not a dupe. It is a lighter brighter red, with somewhat cooler shimmer, not much gold, but it is as close as i have found so far. It looks nothing like the single sample swatch at the head of this article. It really does look like the photo of the actual lipstick included among the photos.
.
I don't like bright red lipstick, not on me, and frankly, not on most of the celebs who have been wearing it the past few seasons. New York Apple lets me wear red without feeling as if i look like a clown.

This is by far my favorite red lipstick, it is not the most daring red but that makes it perfect for day or night. Plus the pink in the lipstick really makes it look lovely on anyone. The formulation is not bad, for a frost lipstick it has very little frostyness and what it does have adds to the beauty of this lipstick. Wears well with or without a gloss.

LOVE this. This makes my whole face pop and perk up. I get compliments on it all the time, too. It isn't fire engine red or brick red so it is safe for those who are not necessarily ready to go the full red. It has a great consistency and lasts. Very pretty.

I got this as a back to MAC. Once again, this looked far different in the store, it had more of a berry/red color, as time went on it turned an orange/brown/red on me. I actually like the gold frost in this lippie, but the color didn't work for me. Once you use MAC's lustre formula lipsticks you just can't put anything else on...they all seem to drag. Back to Sophisto, but I'll hang on to this for the fall/winter.

I like this color because it's not a super bold red. It's one of those red colors that you could wear almost every day if you pleased. It goes on relatively smoothly and lasts for a fairly long time as well.

I'm hardly ever disappointed with the quality of MAC lipsticks. Lovely color, and I think would suit all skin tones. New York Apple is a perfect shade for those who are looking for a red with a pop! Not a true red, but... Hmm.. I'd say a very festive holiday Christmasy Red!

I'm normally quite wary of red lipsticks because of my cool undertones. Most lipsticks just emphasize how red my face is. However, I found that this lipstick really complemented my skin tone. It's definitely a more raspberry-red color with a shimmery, almost metallic looking finish. It wasn't overbearing for my pale skin and it could be used in a neutral day look! Not vampy at all :)

Personally I did not like this color, I received a very beat up overly used tube as an extra in a swap so no complaints about the price. Just threw it away after the first sanitized use.

This is a beautiful bright raspberry, more complex than a typical lipstick. Definitely wouldn't call it anywhere near red, and I don't wear it like I would a red lipstick.
It's a bit funky and goes well with fun (though not too dramatic/overwhelming) eye makeup. The formula feels good and is long lasting. It gets a bit dull and boring I find if not kept freshly applied, though. You could probably solve that with a gloss but I hate gloss so I just reapply periodically.
There are few MAC lipsticks I like the look of, but this is one of them. I'm not sure I'm aware of a similar shade in other brands, so I may repurchase. Since I don't wear this often (funky is not my style really) that might not ever happen.

I'm MAC N5/ID Bare Minerals foundation in Medium-beige usually (or ID Fairly-light in the winter). This lipstick is the perfect red colour - blue undertones make your teeth look whiter and overall a really healthy look. Can use a light wash of colour like a lipstain for more subtle or go all out for a night out. But this color is so great you can esily wear it during the day and it not look too full-on. Perfect true raspberry/rose colour that would look good on almost anyone I think. If you think you can't wear red lips, try this. Don't be put off by the 'frost' - it looks much more frosty in the tube that on lips, on lips it gives enough shimmer to make your lips look fuller, not glittery. Plus it makes your complexion look really healthy. I would say this is def an all time one of my faves. With prep (liner etc) this wears really well. Like all reds, cover any little red imperfections on your face - but unlike many other reds, you can get away with not being too fussy with that, which has only got to be a good thing. Great value in my opinion and a very wearable red. You wojn't feel self-conscious in this even if you don't usually do reds.

I am Stila 40-50watts, asian yellow tan skin, small no crease eyes. This is a blue-based, plummy-red. I LOVE IT! This is the first red lipstick that i feel confident in. I get so many compliments about this color. I pair it with MAC's Cremestick Lipliner in Cranapple. It is frosty (not glittery) it is very classy and mature and i think it would suit any skin tone, any age group, and every race. So lovely. The sleek black matte packaging is a great plus too.
