I was SO excited to try this, since I've been curious about it forever, and this is being discontinued so I figured I'd buy it while I still could. Since the whole idea of a tint is that it's SHEER, I got nectar, which I thought would be a nice sheer coral color. Instead it's a grainy, opaque mess. It felt gross on my lips, looked ridiculous, and was pretty disgusting overall. I'm SO disappointed. The Clear shade is a lot better.

Aweful color, texture, quality. I am sticking to Stila. I gave it two lippies simply for the low price and availability. The packaging is terrible because the tube doesn't allow you to turn the tint back down. It will only go up. Sorry Almay.

I first bought these at Big Lots for something like a dollar apiece, and have been snapping up different colors when I find them on sale ever since, so I obviously do like them. However, I completely understand most of the complaints about them too. The name is deceiving, since it has an opaque, lipstick-like texture, rather than the sheer finish implied by the word "tint," and that sucks because it's a drugstore product that you can't try before you buy, so the description needs to be more accurate. Some of the colors are less flattering than others, and overall, they're not really that well-conceived. However, I can pull off a lot of colors, including the "nude" that is actually orange, so I actually haven't tossed one yet due to unwearable color. When I first tried nectar, I was surprised that such a bright coral ever made it onto the market, but then I used it as blush; my technique: I make a big war-paint like smear on my cheeks, blend it in, and set with powder and it looks nice and stays all day. Using the color on my cheeks stopped my orangey lips from looking too bright, and I looked great, like I was lit from within. I even tried a bit on my browbones and that worked too. The orange played up my green eyes. Yes, I am the weird girl who looks good in orange, lol. So if you have an affinity for warm colors like I do, this could be a great, versatile product for you. Bonus: more sunscreen, always a good thing. The pure tints are not glossy at all, more like a semi-matte finish without any of the nice, dimensional qualities of a good lipstick. Personally, I remedy this by adding an interesting gloss on top (MAC spring bean tones down the brightness of Nectar and adds shine), which also serves as a remedy to my BIGGEST complaint about these: the grainy texture. I don't like the feeling when I rub my lips together; I don't know if it has to do with the suncreen, but I've experienced the same texture issue with another lip balm with SPF. But, since it's the ONLY lip product I've found with serious, broad-spectrum, higher than the bare minimum of 15, sunscreen, I live with it. In fact, I always wear these when I walk/run outdoors or work in the yard, and it makes me feel a bit more glamorous and feminine to have color on my lips while I'm sweating and digging about in the dirt. I like the irony of it. All that said, if you don't want to bother with playing color roulette, get the clear one and wear a lipstick over it, but if you don't mind a few dollars' worth of risk, the colored ones are a nice, versatile product. Since I have a hard time finding makeup in the yellow-orange shades that suit me, I would definitely repurchase this.

This product was ok. I much prefer the Stila originals because they go on smother and last longer. This color was way too bright for me so I tone it down by applying a base coat of Bobbi Brown's Cocoa lip liner, but I woudln't repurchase.

Overall, I don't like this product. This color looked pretty in its package, but on me it looks horrendous. For a simple glossy type of a product, I have to put this on and then another gloss over to mute down the color as it is too much for me. The only thing I did like about this product is how small it is and easy to toss into my makeup bag to carry around with me. Would not purchase another Almay pure tints again, even in other colors.

This is just ok. This stuff is very pigmented for a tint. Very creamy, pretty much like lipstick. On me, Nectar is a medium peach-y coral, but not too bright or garish. It's kind of gritty, unless my tube is a dud. The size is cute and tiny, but the cap is a little TOO tiny, and I don't like how the lipstick doesn't go back down when you swivel the tube.

I finally found a color in this that works for me. Sigh. The colors are all darker than the color swatches on the package. I find this too opaque; I was hoping they'd be more sheer... thus the name "tint." Oh well. Blush was too dark and mauvy and Nude was yucky brown. Nectar seems to be okay, a warm orangy-red that makes me look healthier if I apply it lightly. Too bad I didn't see this one first! The packaging is quite annoying with its tiny lid, and you can't swivel the product back into the case, which makes it hard to put the lid back on sometimes.

This turned muddy orange on me. I don't like Pure Tints in general. I also had a problem with the stick not twisting back into the tube.

I love this lipstick! Very smooth and moisturizing. The color is soft and quite natural. I like the packaging as well - the slim shape it comes in makes the lipstick easy to apply. I will try this in Mauve next!
