I had colored my blonde-highlighted hair red 3 weeks ago and the color was really fading. I was looking for something to bring back the vibrance and this did it quickly and easily. My hair color looked fresh from the salon, plus it was shiny and detangled. Bixa is definitely the right shade for me - it was quite natural. The madder root gave me bring pinky-red strands which was awful!

i love this stuff. i died my hair from blond to brown and the color wasn't very natural- kind of a grayish black. so i got the clove conditioner and after a time or my friends and boyfriend commented on how it evened out and looks more natural. then i added the bixa conditioner (i either mix them or i use it every other time) to add some of the red back in that i had bleached out before when i was blond and it looks even MORE natural- most natural brown hair has a tiny bit of red in it, so it really looks good. i leave it on a long time if i need some deep penetrating. i love aveda.

I really love this stuff. It has a great smell and texture (because it's so thick it doesn't stain my shower) and does a decent job of conditioning my hair. I am only giving it 4 lippies right now because I am not wowed with the color depositing but I hope it will intensify with more uses.

I really liked this conditioner. For quite awhile I was dying my hair a dark copper/auburn and this kept it looking fresh long after it had dulled out prior to using it. Now that I've gone to a color closer to my natural (mousey) brown but still with a slight hint of copper, I use this conditioner to warm the color up a bit. I think I paid somewhere around $18 for the tube which seemed like a lot at the time, but that was about a year and a half ago and I just finished it off last week. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way (though I only used it 1-2x/week at most), even in super-super thick hair like mine! It was well worth the cost!

This is a great color depositing conditioner. I recently colored my hair dark brown and had blonde highlights added in. The color wasn't warm enough for me, so I decided to try this conditioner. It really warmed up the brown, and turned my blonde highlights to a copper/ auburn color- I love it! Pros: really does deposit color, smells great. Cons: isn't the most moisturizing of conditioners, but that's not what I use it for, packaging could be better (gets messy), only lasts about 2 shampoos on me. B/c it doesn't last that long I use it after every shampoo, I'm also sure to use a clarifying shampoo once a week as well.

This product has worked well for me. I have medium-brown hair that is currently dyed darker brown with reddish highlights. The highlights tend to fade out and become golden, so an application of Bixa brings them back to reddish with a hint of gold. The consistency of this product is good; it's kind of like chocolate pudding. Just be sure to shake the tube before using. The scent is naturalistic and not as overpowering as some of Aveda's other products. Like all Aveda products. Bixa is overpriced (about $30 Cdn per 250ml/8.5oz tube). It does, however, leave my fine hair well conditioned and not flat or lifeless. It adds shine and is really useful for touching up my hair in between salon visits. I find that it does not stain, provided I rinse my hands immediately after applying it. I am careful to wipe any drops of it that get on my white bathtub, and I _always_ take my engagement ring off before I apply it. I would give it five lippies, but it's just so expensive that I've taken one lippie off.

I found that although the Madder Root shampoo brought out the coppery highlights in my naturally red hair, the Madder Root conditioner turned the paler strands a fake-looking pink colour; my sister has strawberry blonde hair and after washing with MR shampoo + conditioner she had hair like a My Little Pony. Anyone with blonde highlights or greys should be very cautious because although it does wash out, it stains. BUT Bixa is a much more natural shade, with a coppery, nutmeggy effect on brown to auburn hair. Now I mix half and half MR and Bixa for depth and tone, and afterwardsmy hair looks as though I've just been into the salon for a treatment. The conditioning and shine is excellent, as with all Aveda products, and it smells pleasant too. If only it was all a couple of pounds cheaper...

I really like this product although it tends to make your hands a little orange at first. I color my hair and after a week or so the color tends to fade but I think this gave a little more richness to the color and added some coppery tones to my brownish
hair.

I like this conditioner because it gives my dyed a hair a nice coppery color and doesn't weigh it down. I only gave it 4 lipsticks because the top leaks and so when I open it up, watery conditioner gushes out of the tube.

This is the BEST product I've found for keeping my hair warm-looking without appearing dyed. I have a significant amount of grey on my head, and was a little apprehensive about the results. Visions of Ronald McDonald ran through my head. But rest assured, my hair glowed. It took a few showers, but the effects really stuck and look so natural. In sunlight or indoors, I love the colour. Warm, coppery and not brassy, honey-bronze. I have the hair I had when I was five years old!
The product is silky and thick, without being clumpy. It's very easy to apply and you don't have gobs running down the drain because it's so liquidy. The great thing I like is that it doesn't stain your hands or towels like the other Aveda "colour-enhancing" conditioners.
As for the conditioning properties, it's a perfect balance between clean and soft. It doesn't over-condition like some, leaving your hair heavy or waxy. It treats my hair with respect, smoothing the follicles and teasing it with a warm richness. It's so good, I could eat it. The slightly clay-like smell, though, would not encourage me to do such a thing.

I normally use Madder Root conditioner but I swapped for the Bixa and gave it a try. Although it's very similar in color I hate the way this stuff comes out clumpy rather than smooth. A lot of the conditioner settled between my fingers and just ended up being wasted. It does leave the hair soft, shiny, and detangled. I personally suggest Madder Root or Bixa Shampoo & sub the conditioner for your regular conditioner. You will still get the subtle highlighting results minus the conditioner. continued >>

A little pricey at $17,but it does a great job of keeping my red locked in beween colorings. It also brings out the warm highlights in my natural strawberry blonde hair.

I want to begin by saying that this is not a bad product, but is a bad product for *my* hair. I colour my hair a copper/light brown which is just a couple shades lighter than my natural colour. I felt that this would extend my colour between salon visits considering my colour is semi-permanent. It made my hair very brassy and "grabbed" more in porus areas, such as my ends. It wasn't terrible, but considering the price I paid ($26.00 Canadian), I don't want my hair to look worse than it would if I didn't use a colour conditioner. Again, I feel that it would work very well on natural hair. The conditioning was average, not worth the cost.
I also cannot STAND shampoos/conditioners that come in a stand-up tube! It is so easy to not snap the lid properly and your money (and in this case, a lot of money) goes down the drain.

I have naturally red hair and I notice a difference after I use this. It makes my hair a little more "coppery" and shiny.

I really like this conditioner. It keeps my red color from fading (I dye it a light copper, from my natural blonde) and moisturizes nicely. I wish it did a better job of detangling, though. Also, it's a bit on the pricy side.
