Sophisto is a glossy, sheer-but-pigmented, moist, plummy pink and I love it! Straight from the bullet it's a little too bold/dark for me so I usually put some lip balm on top of it to tone it down. Perfect!

Great colour. It looks so dark and brown but it gives my lips a lovely berry sheen. I also like the fact that when it has worn off it doesn't leave any harsh colour residue; it just fades.

This is my first mac lipstick. I only by high end products for face ie, foundation, blush , powder and concealer. The rest, I use drugstore. But I had six mac empties so i wanted to buy a lisptick. I said I wanted smth soft, neutral yet a little extra unlike a nude shade and the SA applied this.
On me, an NC50, its a berry/ brown with gold shimmer. I really like it.
I can easily wear this to work...I feel weird wearing lipstick or color to work since I am an engineer and dont want to appear too feminine in a male-dominated field. But, i think i maybe able to pull this off. I really do like the formula, its not matte and lets some of my lip color show thru.
I said I might not buy this product again since I wont spend that much on lipstick. I usually buy my lipstuff from revlon or maybelline. But I might buy it again if I have lotsa money to burn.
Overall, very pleased

Straight but my favorite formal lipstick. I'm NC42 and it kind of emphasizes my natural lip color. The picture doesn't really show what the lippie is actuAally like. It as a beautiful subtle and classy gold shimmer. I went to a career fair and one of the recruiters commented on it. It's just classy. That's the best way to describe it. But this is not a summer or day to day wea lipstick.

Sophisto is a very sheer subtle colour on my asian (NW43) skin. I really like the texture, very smooth and moisturising. And i love the goldish shimmer.

I LOVEEEEEE Sophisto! I received as a gift and I really wish they bought me two. Its sheer but you can add on more if you like it darker. I'm an NC30 and it looks like my lips only BETTER. This was my 1st MAC product and won't be the last!

I adore this lipstick. I'm NW40 with pigmented lips, and this color is pigmented enough that I don't need to wear lip liner. On me it's a very natural color that I can wear everywhere.

A dull rose with some unflattering gold added. The usual vanilla scent that MAC lipsticks have. Drying as I find all MAC lipsticks to be. I so wish they'd change their formula! I no longer buy MAC lip products due to this, and am updating my MUA reviews as I toss these crappy things.
I'm finding must better lip products with Maybelline & CG these days. I'm tired of spending good money on poor department store cosmetic fluff continued >>

A color that affects my complexion, I am an NC25. It kind of washes me out if I do not wear other makeup, but that's okay. It just means a lipstick I either wear by itself a little uncomfortably, or a little bit of effort to wake my complexion up.
I do have to apply blush or a little eye makeup with this, but it is a nice shade of copperish brownish ...berry...? Red? I'm not sure how to explain it. :-) But it's worth a look.
I find that a few layers works the best for me, but a bad thing about this, is that it is a lustre and... lustres find its way to dry out my lips, even with a balm :/

RIS. Pretty rasberry/plum color with gold shimmer. Im asian w med yellow undertones. Good everyday color but can be deepened for night time with gloss on top. Imo this color isnt that unique and probably dupable but i really like the lustre formula.

Bought this on rec from MUA. LOVE IT! Beautiful color for me (fair skin, dark hair) and I do think it'd be a good shade for most people. On me, it's a pinky-barely reddish-with a soft touch of brown. I don't find it drying. I love that I can just swipe it on and go - no fuss.

This is my favourite lipstick. The lustre formulas is moisturizing even in the coldest winter. The colour is an absolutely beautiful sheer pinky plum, with slight gold shimmer. I use it everyday for work and it adds just the right amount of colour and shine. No need for a gloss on top. I have repurchased many times.

Sopisto is a lovely cool/berry shade with some gold flecks that looks beautiful with my pale/cool cloring. Its a shade that really lives up to its name, it perks me up and gives me a sophisticated look. Looks awasome with Mac's Plum Foolery blush. Sophisto can be worn day or nite, its a very versatile color that is a must for all fair skin tones.

This is a MLBB shade I've been looking for. As an African-American woman (nc40-42, c40) my lips are fairly pigmented and I was having a hard time finding a lipstick that didn't look like I only applied clear lip gloss (that's you MAC Hug Me). This shade is a pretty plummy shade that is part of MAC's Lustre family. The formula is good--it lasts on my lips 3-4 hours without reapplying. Love this! Go out and try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
UPDATE: This makes my lips itch so bad everytime I wear it--I think it's the MAC formula. Still a gorgeous color, but will try to find something else.

very nice and sheer-buildable, casual for day/work yet converts to night/club, etc.
*very elegant and sophisto-cated!

I bought this after a YT beauty guru recommended it for darker skin tones like mine. I really like it. I wear it during the daytime to work by itself and it gives my lips just the right amount of color without being too sheer or too pigmented. I like the luster finish because it gives the look of lipgloss without the stickiness.

As I have very pigmented lips and cool olive complexion I have had a lot of trouble in the past finding lip colours that look natural, but Sophisto has fixed all that! It's a sheer plummy colour that looks rather like a gloss on the lips but without the stickiness of a gloss. I wear it every single day, work and play and LOVE it. It goes with neutral or party make up and can definately be worn at work as well. Would highly recommend if you have very pigmented lips as well. The only draw back is that you do have to reapply often, but this is a minor draw back for me as I love the colour so much.

Sophisto appears as a sheer berry on my lips with some gold shimmer when I applied one layer. It's quite pretty for day time. With several layers I get a deeper plum berry colour which is quite nice for a glamourous night out. Hence, this is a lipstick that a girl can use both day and night. Unfortunately, the lustre formula is much too drying. I had to put on a lipgloss over it.

I'm really surprised by all the people calling this a "deep" or "dark" colour, because on me it's almost a nude, and I'm a fair-skinned person.
It's a very soft neutral rosy pink with gold shimmer, so it's very subtle. I find it quite sheer and it feels moisturising.
I don't think I will ever finish this tube, because this colour just isn't very exciting, so I don't reach for it regularly. Therefore, I don't think I'll need to buy it again.

Love this lipstick! It glides on, and feels more like chapstick than lipstick. In fact, I use it when my lips are dry. This is a nice plum color on me (I am NC 42), but it does look a little too purple under fluorescents. I will definitely buy this again.
