I really like this pencil--it's a quick way to get a perfect lipline/color. The color is a light/medium pink--slightly lighter than my natural (highly pigmented) lip color, very pretty for spring. The scent is strong--I don't really smell peppermint, just grapefruit--but I don't find it unpleasant. I use a bit of lipbalm before application and don't find it particularly drying. Wear is average, like a creamy lipstick. I plan to buy this in different colors.

Okay, usually I like these kind of gel-pencils. But this thing smells bad. It's maybe the peppermint oil--that stuff makes me sting when it gets on my skin, and it's too strong when I sniff it, so that's probably the trouble. I don't taste any grapefruity taste with this on at all. It's kind of cold on my lips and just too light for my pale complexion . . . looks like the Twiggy "Mod Look" light pink shimmery lipstick popular when I was a preschooler in the 1960s. It was raved over in Lucky magazine (yes, the SHOPPING magazine, she admitted shamefacedly). Luckily, they also mentioned the Medic lip treatment, which I also ordered and just simply love, so things worked out. The packaging is appealing and clever (but Wet and Wild drugstore cosmetics used to make a very similar waxy pencil lip balm in lime that was like this one, so it's not unique.) I'll end up giving this lip gel (it's not a gel, really, it's just a stick that's got a rubbery texture. . . solid-to-gel, maybe) to my niece next time I see her. She's 14 and can still wear that kind of lipstick-lighter-than-lips.
Whereas it gives me the Morticia Addams/Lily Munster vibe. Aargh.

I love the color of this- and the scent/flavor is fabulous- minty grapefruit- but they are gritty & drying on my lips. continued >>

This is my second purchase of an Alchemy refreshing lip gel. This one has a very strong scent of a Tart Grapefruit, which luckily I find pleasant although a little unusual.
If you don't love the scent of grapefruit the scent of this lip gel will really bother you because believe me it is STRONG. The color of this lip gel is a really nice medium peachy-pink. I like the texture of these lip gels and this is a nice neutral color. This is a good product, although a little pricey, I would buy this again. I do feel a compelling need to go get a big glass of grapefruit juice after wearing this for most of the day. Something I've never felt before after wearing a scent.
