HG! My skin is combo-dry (dryer in the winter, occasional dry patches all year round). This is a very good cleanser. I have been using this cleanser for months. I feel that the AHA in the cleanser has helped resurface my skin, a more even complexion, and since I started using it, it got rid of my moderate acne. After trying sooooo many cleansers I have found THE one! Highly recommend this cleanser, at least give it a try. It is way cheaper in Vitacost.com
Would also recommend these products in conjunction with the BWC cleanser:
BWC Aromatherapy Balancing Facial Toner
BWC Moisture Cream, Skin Renewal 8% Alpha Hydroxy Complex

I should probably just stop shopping around and make this my HG cleanser. I have tried this product off and on for about 4 years, and I keep coming back to it. I have sensitive, acne-prone, combo skin. My t-zone can really turn into a serious oil slick! I know this doesn't irritate my acne prone skin because I use to use it when my skin was absolutely beautiful and I was not using any prescriptions for acne. Now with the full blown acne I am battling, I have gone back to this because I am so fearful to try new things on my skin. But since I know I have used this without receiving any type of irritation or getting more pimples, I know it is a safe bet. I definitely would not use this alone to take off a waterproof sunblock or makeup. If I only have on sunblock (vanicream spf 35), then I wash my face twice. If I have on makeup, I remove the makeup with sunflower seed oil first, and then it only takes one thorough cleansing (massage for 60 seconds) with this face wash. I agree with other reviewers that this can be drying, even for the oiliest skin. However, I saw a reviewer state that they mix it with organic honey. So I am going to try that and update.

Current HG for me. I have difficult skin - dry and flaky, but with non inflamed acne and an oily t-zone,(in the summer). Though my skin is relatively thick and can handle various acid and manual exfoliation, it can be very sensitive to comedogenic ingredients. This face wash foams nicely, removes makeup and sunscreen thoroughly and doesn't break me out or irritate my skin. It also works wonders on all my skin issues when used with my clarisonic. The pump is great, simple but gets the job done, which is my preferred kind of product delivery. The only problem I have is that it is too drying to use in the winter. As I have never found a suitable winter face wash that doesn't irritate my face, aggravate my acne, or dry out my skin, that doesn't surprise me much. In the winter I use this face wash mixed 1:1 with organic raw honey, for most of the week with one or two days using it straight, and it seems to be the perfect solution. I don't think the aha's do much for my skin, since it's only on my face for a little over a minute and it's such a small percentage. However, that would be the case for any face wash with an acid ingredient, and all of its pros out weigh this one minor con.

I think the AHA actually made my skin overcompensate and more oily. I was also expecting my skin to look smoother and it hasn't done that either. I am a bit saddened because it seems to work very well on others with acne-prone skin. This wasn't the case for me.

there is a light scent that doesn't linger. overall, I don't feel like it did anything for my pores. but it might be because i don't leave the product on long enough for the aha's to do anything. it comes in a pretty decent sized bottle, i bought it off vitacost for way cheaper than at the local supermarket. I think this would be a good cleanser in the summer for me, but in the winter i need something more moisturizing.
even though I have combination skin, I tend to get flakey dried skin during the colder months, especially in my eyebrow area so I was hoping this would help.
i do think it's a decent cleanser so i would definitely buy this again if i don't have another cleanser that i want to try out by the time i'm done with this bottle

I've been using this BWC cleanser for about a month now and I have to say, I've been VERY happy with this cleanser. I usually have ridiculously sensitive skin, but I haven't reacted at all to this product and I love the feeling of it on my skin - it feels almost like smooth silicone. After applying, I wait a minute or so (leaving the cleanser on my face) and then rinse off. I definitely think my skin looks "fresher" after using this.
My only (minor) complaint is that it is slightly drying (most likely due to the AHAs) - however, if you have a good moisturizer, you'll be fine. I recently bought other BWC products, so I'll review how they work (and if they work better together) once I've used them together for awhile.
On a side note, I was using this in conjunction with the Alpha Hydrox 10% Glycolic Acid cream (as recommended by a dermatologist I saw on PBS), but it turned out to be too much for my skin (had a burning feeling on my face after a week). So right now I'm just using the BWC cleanser and will use the Alpha Hydrox probably once a week as an exfoliation treatment.

i think this product is breaking me out. i have highly sensitive skin and i started using this product recently and noticed surface minor bumps within 3 days. i'm not going to continue using it and take the chance of the bumps getting worst. i'm going back to aveeno clear complexion pads until i find something else. also this product probably will work best as pads!

Have to agree with the others that have been happy with this cleanser. I use it in the summer as it is better when my skin is slightly oily. Great ingredients, price and results. Usually I buy it through Vitacost.

I really like this product. I'm trying to use more organic beauty products, and needed a new cleanser that would fit the bill. This gel cleanser works very well with my oily acne-prone skin. So far (I've been using this for about a week, two times a day) I've had no breakouts from this product. As I don't wear makeup often, I'm not sure how well it does in the removal department.

I'm a loyal customer of BWC and I was very happy when my skin had a good reaction with this face wash. My skin gets very dry in the winter, but extremely oily once humidy summer starts. The packaging works great, all I need is one pump. The face wash comes out in a thick gel form, I pump it into a baby washcloth and it immediately foams up. I like the smell too. It removes all my makeup and leaves my skin glowing and soft. I only use this at night, for fear that it would make my skin too dry and because I don't find it necessary to wash in AM. I can see this facewash NOT working for someone with really dry skin.

I just bought this and I have only used it a few times , but so far I love it . I am trying to switch to vegan products , The smell is very faint and pleasant ,its lightly foaming , and best of all no animal ingredients . It has a pump dispenser .cost $8.95 will buy again.
Edit = after 2 weeks , it was too drying , I think the fragrance may have irritated my skin so I use it to clean makeup brushes edit =.Now that its hot outside I am using this again , and I love it .I guess its just too drying in the colder months .

Beauty Without Cruelty never lets me down!
i used to only use BWC's Vitamin-C cleanser (which is the best all around cleanser for all skin types in my opinion). but i use a topical cream to help fight breakouts & it can dry my skin out. i decided to try this AHA cleanser just to help fight the flakies. & it does! it leaves my face so smooth.
it has just enough AHA to help & not hurt. & the bottle seems to last forever! also, none of BWCs facial cleansers break me out - which is a feat in itself! i have very sensitive, temperamental, acne prone skin.
although i LOVE this cleanser i have found that my HOLY GRAIL cleanser is a mixture of this AHA cleanser & BWC's Vitamin-C cleanser. i use a warm wet washcloth & apply 1 squirt of the Vitamin-C cleanser & 1 squirt of the AHA cleanser. then i rub very gently in a circular motion. my skin has NEVER felt so good. soo soft & soo smooth, all the flakies are gone & my skin is thoroughly but not overly cleansed - i wish i could accurately describe how good my skin feels afterwards. I LOVE IT.
the only downside for me is that no stores in my area sell BWC. i've been told that it just doesn't sell well - so i either have special order it at my local health food store or order it online. i don't care though, the quality of BWC's products far surpass it's competitors & they also last a long time. BWC is by far my favorite skincare/haircare line. continued >>

I love this stuff. Just enough AHA for me to feel like it's making a difference, but not enough to leave me with flakies. I don't care much for the scent, but the consistency of this cleanser and the way it leaves my skin feeling is PERFECT. It hasn't broken me out, either, not that I expected that. It doesn't really do it for me in the summer when I am an oily mess, but the Vitamin C and CoQ10 version works at that point. Such a great brand.

I love this product! My skin is finicky *dry cheeks and oily tzone with breakouts in this area) and this seems to keep it happy. My skin is very combo and this hasnt caused me any problems. I use this both day and night, then follow with the BWC Balancing Toner. After that, I use the Maximum Moisture cream (my HG). I haven't tested these products in warm weather yet, but will update this summer.
UPDATE: This has started drying out my skin, so I stopped using it.. I will try it again once summer comes around. Currently using 100 Percent Pure products

I was looking for an AHA soap that I could try at a drugstore price. BWC's is great! It it mildly exfoliating but not drying, leaves my skin clean but not stripped, and has a calming, non-chemical/non-floral smell. Most of the time my skin is normal to oily, and I think someone whose skin was truly dry might do better with something else, but for combo or oily skin, this is a fantastic bargain.

I love this cleanser. I would use Cetaphil, but Cetaphil is tested on animals. The consistency is perfect and it lathers just enough (I use it in the shower). It leaves my skin feeling very clean and smooth.

I'm pretty sure this makes me break out, which is unusual for me. I just went on vacation without it, and my skin became totally clear. It's too bad, because it smells lovely.

Have Combo skin, which Now tends to be more dry than oily-Except in the summer.
So, I need to switch to a cleanser that keeps oil at bay, without drying me out.
-I decided to try this a few weeks ago, and so far, I am getting Very good results. It's got a very thin-gel texture, but I don't find that bad..After I wet my face, I massage this cleanser(in a pump, which I love) fora minute or so, & it rinses clean. My skin feels totally refreshed w/out feeling dry. I use 1x a day, otherwise it dould be drying- I do Reccomend this to oily or combo skin. Great Price, ingredients & results

Do not use this if you need it to remove med-full coverage foundation and/or mascara waterproof or not as it removes virtaully no makeup! I wear an all-day wear foundation and this sucks really bad at removing it. When I get out of the shower I use my cotton pads soaked in toner and there's still tons of foundation left on my face and mascara which isn't even waterproof! This also doesn't lather in the slightest! It's pure gel, like hair gel so it slips right off your hands if you're not extremely careful and I have to use 3-4 times more then any other cleanser because of it's non-lathering and it doesn't spread well on wet skin. Use only if you wear light wegith or no foundation as it's a waste otherwise. back to my hunt for a cleanser that will remove my foundation fully! (had no idea this would be so difficult a task!)

I love this and their cream cleanser. I had used the cream one years earlier and remembered it working well so I bought it this winter when my skin got dry and irritated. The cream does not remove makeup all that well so I thought I would try this one. Well, I love it as much if not more. This cleanser is ideal for me in summer/humid climates, while the cream cleanser is nice in the morning or when my skin is on the drier side. I don't notice any strong fragrance with either and I love the pump dispensers. (There could be a scent to it but my allergies always leave me congested so I don't smell very well :) ) Neither irritate my eyes either. This one seems more difficult to locate... they had only one left at whole foods. This is much better than Phytomer's Gel Cleanser for me!
