In the end, I did not like having all these little pots of eyeshadow that I would need to waste time and energy and get bored in choosing between, flipping lids etc. I was also really chuffed to discover that the old fantastic quality Urban Decay depotted perfectly into the MAC as well.
I only became aware of the 'pro palette' system by reading on the internet, and numerous shadows that languished unflipped open are now being considered and used frequently.
I wish MAC Australia would gear up and get their palettes going!
PS I researched and tried various methods to depot...I am quite practical (have a farm, use lots of tools, etc) and assumed the no-heat, cut the container system would work best for me...but maybe my snips, pliers etc were the wrong kind, but I actually found that the scorch-over-the-candle method was easiest for me. But YMMV.

It AMAZES me that other brands have not tried to copy this (Fashionista in Superdrug I think might have something). I have three and although in one the insert doesn't sit quite square, the shadows are held firmly in place but also flip out pretty easily when you need them to. Brilliant.

Got my first one in a multiswap and I couldn't be happier. This palette screams expensive and looks great on your vanity. It looks like it would be heavy, but it isn't. It is quite light weight and the magnet on the front is very sturdy. The shadows look great from behind the clear "window" on top and it's great for organization since you can see the colors before you open the palette. I wish the large eyeshadow palette had the same feature. It can get a little dusty with use and if you remove the shadows you'll notice how much shadow dust gathers under the pans. You'll find yourself cleaning these quite frequently. Removing the shadows can be tricky since you have to remove the entire shadow panel to do so. It gets easier to do with use. I would buy again and am currently planning on doing such.

The new palettes look really nice but they need a manual to show how to remove the shadows! You have to 'pop' the insert out in order to remove the shadows.
I really like the see through lid, they should do that with the 15 pan palette too.

These are so convenient to store Mac eyeshadows in! The pain is to depot them, stick the names on the back of each pan and find magnets for them so they can stick to the palette, but once the task is over, voila: Pretty, safely stored eyeshadows that you can look at and examine whenever you want. This layout also helps to get you out of your makeup rut - when you see all the colors at the same time you get more inspired and adventurous. I looove the appearance of these palettes. They're so flat and sleek, I adore all Mac packaging, I find it uber chic and minimal. It's really a joy, having all my eyeshadows in one place (well... a couple of palettes for the time being), taking them anywhere I want without having to choose which ones I'll leave behind due to space restrictions; I couldn't re-live Sophie's choice one more time, and now I don't have to! Get one of those babies and you won't regret it. Will keep repurchasing.

I think that these palettes are a fantastic idea if you have a bunch of shadows (like I do!). They are secure, allow you to keep shadows clean and if you buy shadow refills, they actually cut down on the cost and packaging of buying shadows in individual cases. As a bonus, UD, Body Shop and Smashbox shadow pans fit quite well into these, so you can depot even more than your MAC shadows for easy storage!
Unfortunately the lids aren't clear, so in order to find what you're looking for if you have more than one, you need to label or write on the outside. There is a metal plate under the pan holders, so in order to securely fix the shadows in place, you need to stick magnets to the bottom of the shadow pans. Another down side is that in order to get your individually-cased and limited edition shadows and out of their quads and plastic cases, you have to cut and/or (with the new quads) melt plastic to get them out, and even if you're careful there is a risk of chipping, cracking or breaking the shadows as you try to remove them.
If MAC would make the lids transparent, add magnetic strips under the pans in the palettes and the individual cases (like Makeup Forever does) so they could easily be moved, they would be perfect!

I really love how convenient this is for all my eyeshadows. I really like that you can have all the shades together to make it easier to see your options or to blend different colors together. MAC's sleek black look is what really loured me into purchasing this, but I wish it was a richer black and a little higher quality. I'm sure it will last me a very long time, but for almost $15 for plastic, this should really feel more durable. I'd definitely buy more of these though, even though they are a little overpriced.

I like the fact that i can have my eyeshadows in one place nice and tidy in a beautiful little palette. I got my first one last week and i am really excited because i wanted one for so long.
But i think that it should be a little cheaper (its just plastic) and mac should make a bigger one...

I LOVE these; so why does it seem so hard to find them? They dont sell them at my closest Mac counter, so I have to send for them. I just dont get why some companies dont have a bigger sales base. Why cant they sell Mac in more places?

The MAC 15 Eyeshadow Pro Palette should be cheaper in my opinion. First off, MAC pans have a lot of wiggle room inside these wells. So if you were to drop your eyeshadow palette or move around, it would be very susceptible to breaking. Also, the magnets on the MAC pro pans are not that strong to securely hold the eyeshadow.
I actually modified my palette by changing the steel plate with an adhesive magnet that I bought from Michaels. Since I use steel pans (non-mac pans) it was the easiest solution. When I say steel pans, I mean pans that I bought from Coastal Scents and Stars MakeUp Haven. Even though they say they are 26mm, they are slightly bigger than MAC pans. So you can actually depot and stick the MAC eyeshadow inside the steel pan. The fact that they are bigger, allows for less wiggle room inside the palette.
I actually compared this palette to the UNII Palette and 12 Pieces Empty Magnetic Palette:

This is a great idea! I keep all my favourite shadows together and can easily see them if I have time in the morning to try a different look. It's nice and slim so can be easily transported. Only trouble with these is that I keep getting tempted to fill them!!

I love this product. It makes collating my eye colours so easy. I have the 15 for my neutrals/taupes/grays etc. I then have 4's for the silvers/greens/blues/purples/bronzes/pinks etc. I label the smaller ones so I know whats in there to save rummaging. Ditto as per previous reviews for break factor. Its rather fragile! I like the fact that it isn't glue or stuck in with tabs, as if I fancy a mess around with my colours, they easily pop out and can be rearranged. I'm not sure if its a separate review, but the blush one is great too. I definately would repurchase, but the risk is that if I buy another 15 palette, I have an pverwhelming urge to fill it :o) A must for MAC lovers x x

I absolutely love these palettes; they allow you to keep all your shadows in one place, which makes storage and finding shadows so much easier as there is no clutter, and they are also perfect for travelling! You can stack several on top of each other to save room; it's so much easier and neater to keep 15 shadows in one of these rather than 15 individual pots as it can take forever to find the shadow you're looking for! Be careful however as if you drop the palette, you can cause damage to a lot of the shadows (talking from experience here!) so take care when using them around hard floors! I would love these even more if the lids were clear so you could see the shadows inside, as at the moment I have to make do with labelling the palettes as I own several, which saves me rummaging through every palette to find a specific colour!

I love my palette. I just purchased my first one and to be honest, I thought it would be MORE expensive because it is from MAC. I will continue to buy these palettes when I get more eyeshadows to fill them. I think they are a great way to store your eyshadow pans and I love that they are magnetized.

I love the fact i can keep my eyeshadows in place but i have like 8 of these palletes now and i don't even understand why Mac increased the price for empty plastic. If you drop this pallete eyeshadows will break so be careful. I would repurchase just because i don't really have any other choice.

The concept is great. The Pro Colour Palette does its job in keeping all MAC eye shadows in one place, but it's not accident-proof IMO. Yes, it's magnetized and the pans stick to the palette relatively well, but if you shook/dropped the palette your eyeshadows could pop out. Also, it's kinda pricey in my opinion. With the recent price increase I'm not all that happy!

Love this product! Great for organizing shadows as well as every other type of potted makeup. Learned from YouTube videos how to depot shadows as well as other items I need to live on a daily basis (bronzer, blush, highlighter, powder foundation), and to remove the inner 15 shadow divider to make it into a universal palette. My makeup square footage has been drastically reduced into 3 very sleek, professional looking compacts. No more fumbling around with a bunch of compacts for everything.
I travel extensively and this product has cut down my clutter to absolutely none. The product is sturdy and well made. It retails for $14 at MAC stand-alone stores only. If you're looking to organize and get serious about makeup, get these. Other palettes that I chose this one from are Japonesque, Unii (which is really cute btw, but I don't need to carry my makeup around during the day/night, just traveling), and Z Palette. MAC is more cost efficient than any of the rest, but you may like the look of the others.

Oh YouTube, this might be the best thing I learned from all your MAC loving video makers. I had my awkward collection of pots of MAC shadows, and I discovered not only can you easily remove your shadows from the little pots, MAC sells these little palettes that hold all your shadow pans. And then I learned that if you take out the divider, you can hold 26 if you arrange the shadows a certain way:
And THEN the MAC website started selling palette refills, so no more shadow depotting was necessary and the refills are cheaper! I thought I was going to miss the Back2MAC benefits for the lipstick for returning 6 shadow pots, but 14.50 * 6= $87.00 and 11 * 6= $66.00 so 87-66= $21, so with the money you save buying shadow refills you can buy a lipstick and have 7 bucks left over, plus the women at my local MAC counter like to not hook me up with the limited edition lipsticks and are generally unpleasant to deal with, so I don't miss going to do back to MACs. I love my MAC palettes, sometimes I want to sleep with them. continued >>
