I've been using this product for about two years now and I really love it! However, I do not use it on my face. I originally bought it for my face and it didn't work. When I ran out of my acne body wash, I decided to dig this back out and use it on my chest and back until I bought my usual body wash. It cleared all my body acne up!!! I'm so happy I found this product and will continue to repurchase again and again! :D

This is really good face wash. It's leaves your skin feeling clean, provides sort of a radiance (I don't know if it's the benzoyl peroxide, and takes care of acne. I realized it was not taking care of my slight cystic acne fast enough, especially with such strong dosage of benzoyl peroxide, so I decided to leave it on my face for 1-3 minutes each wash. It is beginning to work. It does nothing for the marks, it is runny, and it is not foamy; which makes it feel more like a prescriptive product than a regular face wash. Once I completely clear up my acne, which I am guessing based on the time/ results already, maybe will take 2 more weeks; i will probably switch to 5% face wash and just buy the oxy on the spot acne creme. It is good face wash.

Although this is one of the few face washes in the drugstore that has 10% benzoyl peroxide, and my face usually reacts well with benzoyl peroxide, this really hasn't done anything for my acne. I have pretty stubborn cystic pimples that pop up occasionally, and I always have small whiteheads on my cheeks. This clears up any occasional breakouts on my forehead, but does nothing for my cheeks. I also use this in conjuction with an exfoliating sponge to get rid of any extra dirt and grease, but it still does nothing. However, when I used this in the shower, it cleared up my chest acne and back-ne within a few days. I would probably buy this for the summer to clear up body acne, but otherwise, it did nothing for my face.

reading some the reviews for this products really frustrate me - for 2 reasons. First of all, it proves that people dont even read packages before use, and second, people dont do pay attention to ingrediants.
First ting I want to address a few things in response to some of the complaints people have made. First of all, this is not a cleanser that is designed to remove make up. If you are looking for a makeup removing cleanser, THIS should not be even considered. It is called "MAXIMUM STRENGTH" so yeah, it's going to be harsh! It's medicated, so why would you put it near your eyes? I'd think it would be common sense, but com'on people, it clearly states on the bottle to keep away from you eyes! So if you put it near you eye and it hurts, well, that's what you get... If you wear makeup, you need to remove it all before using this. enough said.
So now to get to my review: I follow pretty closely to Paula Begoun's philosophy on skincare, and I highly recommend her book/website, but there I times I do stray. My skin face is too sensitive of 10% BP, it makes me really dry and itchy and irritates my skin, so I use a 2% or a 5% if it's really bad, topic BP gel on the spots I get. Paula does not recommend using face washes with actives, like this one - her logic being that they these kinds of ingredients need to be left on the skin and they do little work in the short amount of time that you spend cleansing. With those two facts in mind, I would not normally even glance at a product like this.
However, I was starting to break out really badly on my back, and it was getting a lot worse during the hot summer, that made my combination skin much, much worse, so someone recommended that I try this. I was using the topical BP gel, but it was really hard to apply so I thought this might work for my "bacne" because 1) it is higher percentage, so may work better on my stubborn bacne, but the fact that it is not left on maybe it would make me dry/peely/itchy like the topical and 2) its so much easier to get on my back this way.
Yup. works well! I use a regular body pouff and cleanse my chest and back with this. I leave it on for a few minuets before rinsing. I do this after I shampoo & condition my hair because those can clog up pores. It really does help me clear up breakouts! It is drying, so I only use it until it clears up, and then maybe once every few days after that to be preventative.
If I get a major breakout on my face, I have used this, and as long as I dont leave it on as long and moisturize after, its ok, but I really prefer a lower dosage gel for my face.
Packing is manly, so I like the shape of it - it's easy to hold and squeeze product out.
It's about $6 or so, and since I only use it as needed, it's lasted me MONTHS, you really don't need a lot. It doesn't really lather a whole lot though.
If you suffer from body acne, I recommend this. Otherwise, for the face, I only would recommend this for people who have very stubborn acne, oily skin (as it is drying), and skin that is not thin or sensitive. For me this is just way too much for my face. continued >>

I've been using this face wash for years. In high school, I tried many different face/acne washes and this was the winner. This was the only facewash that actually cleared my skin, and kept it 95% clear. A pimple would sneak up every now and then, especially around that time of month, but thats when I would use the Oxy spot treatment. I still use this, and I think I always will. I have tempermental skin, sometimes super oily, sometimes dry. This was the only thing that worked for me. I even got my sister and my husband to use it!

I used to use this when I was in high school (3 years ago). I remember picking it up randomly and I glad I chose this. I intially stopped after I finished my first bottle since I was looking for a face wash that would remove my blackheads that I had previous to using Oxy. From then on I used a ton of drugstore cleansers and I forgot about how good this one is for my skin. Benzoyl peroxide always kept my skin clear. I took one lippie off since it doesn't have the power to clear blackheads, but it kept my face clear.

Having battled acne since age 13 I feel like I've tried everything. I've come back to this after years of using other products and my skin (at age 39 still combo and acne prone) has never looked better. It is slightly drying, but less so than other BP products. Definitely an HG purchase for me.
Re the debate about whether BP cleansers are effective, I believe they are if you work them around on wet skin for 2-3 minutes. It seems to be just enough treatment for me without overly irritating my skin.

I remember using this acne face wash when I was in HS way back in the early 80's, (now I'm really showing my age). I don't think they have changed the formulation much, if at all. The consistency is a thin white lotion type of wash with very little to no sud-sing. It was the ONLY thing that cleared up my moderate acne. My daughter is now using this and it is the only wash that has cleared her face also. It is also wonderful if you have really oily skin. I know there have been studies stating that Benzoyl Peroxide in a facial cleanser has little effect on acne since it is washed down the drain, but with me and my daughter, that has not been the case. One thing I will point out, if you have sensitive skin this stuff may not be for you. It is quite harsh. Also, keep away from your eye area as I have accidentally gotten it too close to my eyes and it really burns. If you have mild/moderate stubborn acne with oily skin, please give this facial wash a shot - it really works. I hope they never discontinue it.

PROS: Hubby actually uses this for some body acne and it works perfectly. On the low price end for sure for this type of product. Not too harsh considering it's 10% which is the highest percentage I've seen for BP in the drugstore.
CONS: Smell isn't so great, but it works so well that I can't knock it down a notch for that on the review.

I'd advise you wash off immediately after spreading it on your face. I waited 10 minutes b/c I read somewhere that was effective, but it BURNED, and for a good 1 hour after washing it off. My skin is very accustomed to bp have been using it for years as SA and any active ingredient in acne medications basically. It doesn't dry out my skin I even followed up with a 10% bp spot treatment pretty much all over my face but no dryness.

love this stuff! it really seems to work. note that i only use this at night time because using it twice a day i think would be too strong for my skin. i wish the packaging would be more female gender friendly, however. lol

This product is great for those with more inflamed acne. It does get rid of noninflamed acne to some extent, but I've used products that get rid of it better. I prefer to use 10 percent bp gels instead. This face wash did work well enough that i used the entire bottle, but like i said, just not well enough. Definitely try it if you have more pustules than whiteheads and blackheads, otherwise, don't. It doesn't try out skin as long as you follow up with a good moisturizer - my favorite being Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.

This does wonder for me! I have been using clean & clear, Neutrogena, Proactive, Acne Free...all these stuffs and I finally found my HG acne solution cleanser:) Beginning of this year, I started to have all these little red bumps- btw i never never had severe acne before!- because of extreme stress and unstable diet. I don't know, so I tried Proactive and Blah!
Then I watched this youtube video that recommends Oxy 10! Since it was cheeaaap pharmacy product, I was like- Let's try!
I never expect any huge result and tadahhhh my acnes were all gone! My parents were so happy and my friends were asking what cleanser I used:)
But It is not miracle cleanser, I have to say. My skin is never sensitive, never allergic to any product. My skin is oily, acne prone, strong so I can use any harsh acne wash stuff and still bit oily. haha. So people with sensitive skin should not use this cleanser, because it's harsh, due to BP:( If you can control the amount of cleanser, it will be okay. I guess?
One lippie off for runny texture, little harsh for some skin types.
Oh, for full result you have to use 2 times a day, massage on to your face at least 2 minutes and rinse it:) and TADAHH:)
This is so long review im sorry:P continued >>

My boyfriend picked this up and since I was in between cleansers I started using Oxy. It really cleared up a severe breakout I was having. It's now my HG night cleanser. The texture is a bit runny and the 10% BP does burn but the effect goes away after washing it off. I'll be buying loads of this in the future.

I wish I could say I love this product, but I don't!
I have oily skin that is somewhat acne-prone. I usually get one or two spots that linger annoyingly for a little bit before disappearing. I bought this when I ran out of my other acne cleansers, figuring I would give it a shot.
I don't know if I'm using the product wrong, but this was absolutely toxic to my skin. My skin felt raw and had that weird sticky feeling you get after washing it with cheap soap. It didn't even cleanse my face well - my mascara and eye make-up was still on as if I had just touched up, and my eyes were bloodshot because I was scrubbing at my eyes so hard.
I think I might have just had a bad reaction to the wash but I am not letting it anywhere near my face!

Absolutely love this product! Made my mild acne clear up within a week and keeps breakouts at bay. Also one bottle lasts like 6 months and i wash at night and in the morning! Even though i have dry skin it DOESN'T make me any more dry then usual, possibly it makes me skin less dry because of the creamy formula, i don't have sensitive skin so i doubt this product would work for people with it, but its definitely worth trying! and its sooo affordable!

Got this at Target for around $ 5; I keep it in my shower, and everyday when I get back from work (at a nursing home) I lather up with this and leave it on my face for a couple of minutes...cut down on the zits. I don't even have to put on Benzoil Peroxide cream on my face before bed anymore! So I pretty much solved my problem of getting three zits on my face constantly. Being 33 years old, don't want to see another zit in my life, that is what I consider a teenage problem!

Wow. I'm surprised this product got even better reviews than panoxyl. It's like some have said it's very runny. You even have to shake it before use which I don't really like. It works okay but when I ran out of panoxyl and started using this instead I saw that I started breaking out more. So I switched back immediately. It also feels really disgusting. All in all, I'd rather use panoxyl but as a last resort it somewhat does the job.
