I have had this for years and have ignored it all this time. The other day I just grabbed it on a whim and said WHOA when I put it on. Makes my lips feel soft, look fuller, and the color was just what I was looking for: not mauve, but reddish-plum-brown. I was going to a party the next night and wore this, AND it actually stayed on for hours. So I have put away my Bobbi Brown lipstick in Brown and am using this! Plus it has SPF, so--even better.

This lip stick is good when you use a clear lip gloss on top. I like the color of it and the texture is ok.

I think this is the only lip product that i've never been able to finish. Not because it lasts long, but because its awful! The colors are way to dark and matte, not the color that is in the tube, and dries out my lips to no end. Who wants flaky reddish brown lips?

Got this at Dollar Tree and it is a really nice shade on my fair skin. Does dry my lips alittle but for a dollar you can't really complain too much.

It's not horrible. Kind of gritty. No unpleasant smell. Colors are okay. I prefer Burt's Bees much more.

I'm not much for lipsticks or glosses yet wanted a tinted chapstick and this seemed ideal. Although the colour does not show as much as I would've liked it to, it felt good on my lips as it was somewhat moisturizing (the same impact that softlips leave on your lips). It's compact and a good price for what it gives.

At the time I bought this, it was the only lip product I could find that claimed to be sheer and also had a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Unfortunately, it isn't sheer at all, and the color name is deceiving--it's warmer than mauve should be. Now that I have discovered Neutrogena MoistureShine Tinted Lip Balm, I'll never purchase Pure Tints again. MoistureShine also has broad-spectrum sunscreen, and it's actually sheer!

I first bought these at Big Lots for something like a dollar apiece, and have been snapping up different colors when I find them on sale ever since, so I obviously do like them. However, I completely understand most of the complaints about them too. The name is deceiving, since it has an opaque, lipstick-like texture, rather than the sheer finish implied by the word "tint," and that sucks because it's a drugstore product that you can't try before you buy, so the description needs to be more accurate. Some of the colors are less flattering than others, and overall, they're not really that well-conceived. However, I can pull off a lot of colors, including the "nude" that is actually orange, so I actually haven't tossed one yet due to unwearable color. Mauve is probably one of the better of the bunch; it's a rosy, muted, pink, similar to my natural lipcolor, and is pretty flattering to my skin tone. I actually use this stuff as blush sometimes: I make a big war-paint like smear on my cheeks, blend it in, and set with powder and it looks nice and stays all day. In fact, the Mauve color is muted enough to use as browbone color as well, so it's a pretty versatile product, and I love that. Bonus: more sunscreen, always a good thing. My biggest complaint in terms of the colors of all the Pure Tints is that they're just kinda "blah." They're not something you're going to put on and say "Wow, that's gorgeous!" More like "That looks nice." They're not glossy at all, more like a semi-matte finish without any of the nice, dimensional qualities of a good lipstick. Personally, I remedy this by adding an interesting gloss on top, which also serves as a remedy to my BIGGEST complaint about these: the grainy texture. I don't like the feeling when I rub my lips together; I don't know if it has to do with the suncreen, but I've experienced the same texture issue with another lip balm with SPF. But, since it's the ONLY lip product I've found with serious, broad-spectrum, higher than the bare minimum of 15, sunscreen, I live with it. In fact, I always wear these when I walk/run outdoors or work in the yard, and it makes me feel a bit more glamorous and feminine to have color on my lips while I'm sweating and digging about in the dirt. I like the irony of it. All that said, if you don't want to bother with playing color roulette, get the clear one and wear a lipstick over it, but if you don't mind a few dollars' worth of risk, the colored ones are a nice, versatile product.

Wow where to begin ? This product is awful. I'm crazy abt. lip balms and when Lip Tint came along I thought wonderful - finally they were able to mix a lip balm w/ color and i don't have to go through w/ an additional step of adding lipstick, gloss or a lip liner. This went chalky on me, first I have to say the color totally didn't agree w/ my southasian skin color so that was a problem. But the consistency was awfyl as well! It felt like putting on plaster on my lips and it kinda turned out chalky - very evident. :(
Stay Beautiful :)

I like this.. it's not a lipstick.. not chapstick.. not a gloss.. but a nice protective lip product that gives a nice color without any application fuss! Would repurchase!

WOW! This is a gorgeous rosy my-lips-but-better shade, and it's not too sheer! It reminds me a lot in color of MAC Brick-O-La Amplified Creme Lipstick, only it's in lipbalm form, and it's not quite as thick/pigmented as the MAC lipstick is. It's fabulous, and makes a GREAT base for lipgloss on my not-very-pigmented lips. I'd recommend this to anyone who can wear cool-toned medium rosy shades on their lips -- it's a keeper, and at $3 or so, it's cheap too! :)

This is my old standby lip product. I can swipe this on without a mirror, and get a nice hint of pink on my lips. Leaves my lips super smooth too.

I think it's extremely odd how different this color seems to appear on people. For me, Mauve is actually a bright blued fuschia, and it definitely looks like a lipstick. I don't quite know what to do with this color, as it's way too 80s to wear most of the time. It looks nice with a green shirt if I do natural, neutral cheeks and eyes, but that's about it. I still like the texture and the SPF, and it wears off in a nice, subtle way.

I had this in Mauve. The color was OK for days when you just want more of a natural, sheer look but the ingredients (the sunscreen maybe?) made my lips itch and was terribly uncomfortable. Once I figured this out I stopped wearing it and threw it away.

I dug this out of my makeup bag for a recent trip to the tropics, as this has an SPF of 25, and I'm so glad I did, although as others have pointed out, the name Pure Tints is misleading. I really did expect for it to be a tint, but honestly, it comes out looking like your run-of-the-mill opaque lipstick. The color of this one is kinda weird. Sometimes it looks really red on me, and other times I can see the mauve. Honestly, it's probably too dark to wear in a professional environment. But on the beach it was perfect, although the texture is a bit greasier than I'd like. There isn't any bad smell to this, thank heaven. The packaging to this is absolute junk, though: if you twist it up too far, you won't be able to get it back down again. The colors of these Pure Tints I have often found to be gaudy, and they tend to clash with many people's skintones, so be careful when buying. These are terribly expensive for the small amount of product you get--around six bucks at Wal-Mart, I think. So wait for a sale...or sometimes Big Lots has a few in stock if you go in for that sort of thing. I can see how people might not like these, but give 'em a try if you don't mind all the drawbacks listed above.

yuck! the color sucks and this can be very messy. So buttery. Also the staying power is so low. I don't see any point calling this "tint." Maybe just tinted "lip balm" i guess. This is just too balmy and I didn't like it at all. Felt like vaseline gunk.

Pretty, but nowhere near as nice as Cocoa on me. This is too pink IMHO.

This one is one of my favourites.it is a beautiful neutral rosey color that is not too light in color and is very moisturizing. The gel-like texture is a pleasure to apply and is very sheer. The sun protection is great. You need to reapply often since it does not last very long.
