This is one of few foundations that I have repurchased. I find this to be a good combination of good coverage without looking too heavy. It looks best if your skin is well moisturized first, as it can look obvious over flaky areas. I have normal to combination skin with some breakouts at times. I find that when I wear this foundation, I don't break out as much. There are so many shades that you are bound to find one that fits you. I spread this on with my fingers because it can look streaky applied with a brush. It is long wearing and actually seems to look better as the day goes on. I definitely recommend giving this a try.
I don't think this is a bad product, but it is certainly not for me.
First off, the pro's:
I like the consistency and I think it covers really well. It is very moist, and thick.
The Con's:
I think it feels very heavy (emphasis on heavy), make my oily skin even worse and easily make me look cakey.
If I apply more than one layer/re-apply or use it under my eyes it get into fine lines and look cakey.
But the worst about this product is that is gives me serious acne. I have gone back to using it several times and I am sure this is what causes it. After a weeks use I go from clean to pimple town - and to me that is a deal breaker!
So my final verdict is:
Use it if you have dry/normal skin, with light lines and wrinkles.
Don't use it if you are acne prone, suffer from very oily skin or have heavy lines/wrinkles.
I am not a big fan of this product. When i first discovered the Mac SPF 15 foundation, i was in love with it. My sister wore it and i loved the full coverage it gave her. I started using the foundation and wore it daily. I started noticing that the foundation was patchy on my skin, which made it look really cakey and many people noticed this too. As little amount as i applied it still made my skin look dry. I already have dry skin, so this did not compliment my skin whatsoever.
Mac products contain alot of chemicals, and i only noticed that the chemicals became effective when i washed and cleansed my face. My face was so unhealthy to what it used to be. I was starting to break out and my skin was no longer smooth. My skin could not breathe under the heavy weight foundation, and i knew i had to stop wearing it. When my sister takes off her makeup i see that her skin is so unhealthy and that makes her wear more foundation to cover up the imperfections and then results to even more poor skin.
I only recommend this product for a night out one every week or so. Its lasting power is the best ive seen on any foundation lasting nearly up to the next day and the coverage will definitely cover any acne and pimples.
Its a dewy finish, so if you have oily skin you need to really powder this up, which makes it even more cakey, if not then you will have a nice finish.
Not for everyday wear, because of the results it leaves for your skin, but weekly wear is something worth having.
This foundation is not for those with acne scars. It barely covers anything. the coverage is more like a tinted moisturizer. I would recommend for those with clear skin.
This MAC foundation does it's job, it does cover..but it's so heavy in weight, you can feel it on top of your skin the whole time it's on, it looks very UN-natural, it melts off your skin after some hours and god forbid you hug someone with the wrong cheek cause it rubs off like wet paint.
I am in love with this product and I wish I could buy up a stockpile of it and keep it, but I can't. I found that it works wonders for me and it looks great on my skin. I haven't had any of the problems that others have had with this product. Mine blended great and it holds up to my everyday. If I had one gripe, it's that I am not a big fan of the bottle, I would rather have a pump. Every now and again, I find myself getting a rash of blackheads, but that is normally after I have worn makeup for days and days straight, without giving my skin a chance to breathe. Because of that, I don't know if I can say MAC foundation is the cause or if it is not giving my skin a chance to rest. Overall, I loved this product.
Easy blendable, light to medium coverage but 2min after putting this one my face i felt my skin burning and saw bumps coming through fast washed it off straight away and my face was left extremely red about an 3hours later my skin was back to normal. Hate mac foundations, concealers and powders all of them break me out or i have an allergic reaction to them.

I accidentally purchased this instead of the studio fix (NC20). When I first open it, I notice it was much lighter then the studio fix. Used it anyways. The only difference I found b/w the two, beside the colour difference, was that it made my skin oilier and it was slightly harder to blend.
It's still sitting on my shelf...
I'm not surprised to hear that they are discontinuing this product.
I used this for about a year while I was in college, but it was awful for my sensitive, acne-prone combination skin. It looked heavy, emphasized my acne and pock marks, and made me break out all the time. (I was too busy with my studies and with work to bother finding another foundation at the time.)
I've been working for MAC for 4 years between freelancing and a on counter artist, and in 4 years I've NEVER shown this foundation to anyone....that pretty much shows you what I think of it. No coverage, oily feel, doesn't wear well. Not shocked they discontiuned this. On the other hand they DID dc Mineralize Satinfinish a great foundation for someone looking for lightweight coverage, only leaving us with F&B which I don't love. Every once in a blue moon a customer would come up and want to replace this and I would show them something else to fit their needs and they would indeed be much happier with my new suggestion than Select SPF. I do love Select Cover up concealer though, so even if you hate this foundation, do let it scare you away from trying the concealer. Great medium coverage while adding radiance to the under eye area...non drying...good stuff. Maybe if the foundation worked as well as the concealer it would still be around.
