Oh sweet Chloe of years passed. I have not tried the new version, as I am a bit of an old fuddy duddy and prefer classic scents. This original Chloe will always be a mainstay in my fragrance wardrobe, thanks to a lovely MUAer who included it in a wonderful swap. The original Chloe demands attention, subtley. To my nose, she is all honeysuckle and lilac, smoothed out with amber, cedar and sandalwood. Notes that some may detect but I certainly do not : Aldyhydes, Peach, Rose, Jasmine, Musk, Coconut and Carnation are part of this timeless composition. She is ultra feminine and a little goes a very long way. I wear this with a sundress or something light. Not a good scent to pair with heavy clothes, IMHO. I prefer her company in spring, cool summer days and fall. My Mum wore this and kept a little bottle in her collection, she doesn't like it anymore as the memories it evokes for her are too painful. But I love it and it makes me think of spending time with her in the garden as a little girl. I will never be without this :)

I love this perfume! The lychee really comes through but it's also quite musky - resulting in a scent that is perfect for going out at night. It also has amazing staying power. I would agree with some that its not for every day wear - it can be a tad too heavy, but I think it's really sexy and perfect for dates or nights out on the town.

I bought this at Marshalls for around $20. I wasn't crazy about it but I always liked it. Never knew any of this stuff about new/old formulations and Lagerfeld and the 70s, etc. My mom likes it on me--so, I wear it to work and it's good for an office setting (even medical) as long as you don't bathe in it. Good for daytime...I don't know if I'd buy this again though.

I first fell in love with this product when I smelt it in a magazine. So I decided to pay the £65.00 for 50ml. I wore this perfume religiously and my sister and boyfriend always associated this scent with me. It lasted on me all day. However after 9 months something changed. I had stopped wearing it for a bit and when I started using it again the scent gave me a head ache everytime I used it. I was metallic and sometimes it was like I could taste it. The silver top became tarnished I had to polish it!!?? Then the top also came off. In the end I threw away over half the bottle. Really really disappointed.

This fragrance demands a pretty dress, a classic handbag, and kitten heels. Makes me feel like a lady on those rare occasions when I want to be one. I am NOT a flower girl, and classic chypres drive me batty. But Chloe is so well-done, so well-executed that I can put that all aside. It's lovely. After recently sampling a number of classic florals, including 24 Faubourg & Fracas, vintage Chloe was the fragrance that I decided to add to my collection.
Chloe is worth getting if you can find a sufficiently old bottle in good condition on fleabay or at a resale shop. Look for Chloe by Parfums Lagerfeld, Paris. I have a 50ml EdT in a frosted glass bottle with a silver cap. The box is labeled "spray naturel vaporisateur" with an alcohol content of 82%, made in France. The "aorta" looking bottle is the parfum. The clear bottle is also EdT & comes in 60ml, 120ml & 240ml.
The newer bottles of the original Chloe can safely be passed up. A vintage bottle stored in box is the only way to go.

This is my go-to daytime perfume. Not so much for night, but perfect for during the day!

An oldie but a goodie, way better than most modern florals out there at the moment which are overly sweet and all smell the same, this is powdery and rich with a musky sexy smell - reminds me a little of Boudoir.

I really can't stand this scent! I accidentally bought this at Wal-mart thinking it was the newer version of Chloe, which I adored when Sephora gave me a sample a while back. After buying this I excitedly opened the box, gently removed the fragrance and to my dismay this smelled STRONGLY of headache inducing, synthetic florals and aldehyde. I was really upset because I had exchanged another horrible fragrance for this one, and it turns out they were disgustingly similar. I will say that I sprayed a little on my wrist and the dry down is much better; It actually smells a little soapy, and it lasts for ages.

A blast from the past. Wore this in the early 90s. Had so many compliments, even strangers stopped me in the streets to ask what perfume I was wearing. But nooo....I don't use this anymore, it smells nice and sweet, but dated. Many men seem to love this perfume though. I met a guy not too long ago and he happened to mention he loves Chloe on women. Some of my ex-es truly adore this perfume too. I was on a plane once and a guy said he would love to buy the exact same perfume for his wife.

I love my fragrances from the 70's. I wore the original Chloe EdT by Karl Lagerfeld back in the late seventies and eighties, ever since I first smelled it on my cousins. I still have a little left (which I am hoarding until I can secure another bottle) and I also now have a bottle of the mass market Chloe by Chloe EdT. Although I adore my vintage EdT that is deeper, richer, and oilier than the current EdT, the current EdT is really close to the original. It just seems to have more honeysuckle and less tuberose.

I bought this because I loved Chloe in high school...about 30 yrs ago...wow! Anyways, it was in a rollerball, about 6mls at $25. I figured to go with something tried and true, vs something new. But, I think the fragrance has changed throughout the years. It has deeper floral scents than I remember. I still like it, but it's different. I don't wear it all the time, because I prefer Amazing Grace or Pure Grace to this. I just keep it in my purse for those times when I need to erase another smell that's overpowering me at the moment. :-) It's nice for that and it's a pleasant smell. I just roll it on my wrists and if it gets to be much, I can wash it off. Reading other reviews, I am sure now that they have changed the formulation from when I enjoyed it 30 yrs ago.

I saw this at Marshall's for only $20 and figured I'd give it a try. I didn't even know there was an "original" Chloe scent, but I'm pretty pleased with the scent. It is a little bit strong, I can only do one small spray but I really like the way it settles into the skin and how it smells hours after it's sprayed. It's a good combination of woodsy and sweet. I think I might have been disappointed if I paid more, though. It's definitely not an every day scent because it can be overwhelming.

I'd say this is a solid 4. The original is definitely the best of the Chloe scents, better than Narcisse or the new Chloe.
This one has character and is also very feminine and pretty (not always found in combination.).
It has lots of jasmine and tuberose and a sort of honey smell but it's not too heavy. It has more of an old-fashioned note in the base, but I like that about it. Actually, my favorite is the body lotion, the smell is even more beautiful and it's just the right subtlety.

This review is for the Chloe classic and ONLY R-E-A-L Chloe Perfume launched by Karl Lagerfeld in 1975.
I love this scent. It's a rich floral but with mysterious undertones provided by the Oak Moss and greens in the base notes. Chloe classic is a scent with great depth as it evolves. It's sophisticated and ladylike but with undertones that suggest there is more under the surface, it's not vapid or shallow. This is no little girly perfume nor one of those modern generic fruity florals (like every second new scent today).

This is a feminine and romantic perfume with an intensive floral aroma; the fragrance with character, like so many of the “old” fragrances. Karl Lagerfeld launched Chloe in 1975. Mixture of honeysuckle, orangle blossom, ylang-ylang, hyacinth, lilac, coconut, bergamot, aldeydes and juicy peach is at the top notes. The heart ticks in the rhythm of elegant jasmine, rose, narcissus, tuberose and carnation along with the oriss root, and the base adds up with oakmoss, sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar and benzoin. The creator of this perfume is IFF.

the bottle is what lured me into this product. its girly and chic! i'm really not sure how i feel about this scent. i fell in love with it in the store... and once i got used to it, i don't love it. it's very strong. its almost...too sharp, it gives me a headache every time i wear it. which is too bad, because i really do like the smell!
i wear it every once and a while, but i think its just too sharp and strong for me. i wouldn't buy it again only because i think this bottle will last me a long time since i only wear it maybe once every 6 months.

I always liked Chloe, even from the time I first smelled it when I was a teen and my grandma sent me a tiny Chloe lotion and powder set. I loved the pale peachy-lacy box it came in and I liked the scent so much that when I was in my 20's I bought the Chloe perfume. To me this scent was warm, slightly sweet and powdery and had a certain innocence about it -- not a pretentious omg I'm so sexy vibe.
The scent seemed to work with my body chemistry as it remained gentle and sweet on me and I used to sniff my wrists all the time when wearing it, and as the day wore on the scent would become more soft and soapy-powdery and I found it a comforting scent. I never felt pretentious wearing this. It just seemed like a pretty scent. I only wore one spritz on my wrists and it was the perfect amount. The perfume liquid itself is this rich amber/orange color and I guess because of that I always thought of this as a richer scent.
Over the years I have grown to love MANY other scents too and I tend to stray from one scent to the next. But Chloe is one that I have to say I never got "sick of." I don't know anyone else who wore it and I don't associate it with anything other than me. I may buy this scent again one day.

This perfume is very strange. Sometimes I like it sometimes I dont. Its a very confusing fragrance, there is something I like about it but then there is something I dislike about it. I'm not sure what to write about it... Its nice, but strong, but weird. I truly dont know!

One reviewer said this is NOT a skin scent, and I have to disagree. I like to spray this lightly, one or two spritzes, and it just tends to settle in and give me a very warm aura effect rather than shout ''I'm wearing a floral/oriental/fruity perfume''. Also, spraying it on your shirt or bra is a great way to wear this scent.
I don't smell a lot of distinct notes in the drydown. I do notice that Chloe can smell a bit dusty and old at times, like a library with yellowed, aged books in it. I love that aspect of it, but I figured that I must mention it because if you are reading this review, deciding whether or not to try Chloe, you may want to be warned about the musty smell. Though I have no nostalgia connections, I don't know of anyone in my past that has worn this, Chloe just reminds me of pure warmth and comfort. It's quiet and beautiful. It is a good choice on a day when you don't want to offend anyone with your perfume, like to wear to the office or on a lunch date. Just be sure to spray lightly, or the charm is gone.
Edit: Wow, look at the prices online for this! Less than seventeen dollars for the 3.0 oz size, that is a great deal.

I just got a bottle of the pure parfum from my mom, who was cleaning out her '80s fragrance stash (she's into the soapy light florals now). So my review is for the original Chloe, not sure how it compares to the remake.
To me, Chloe is heavy on the honeysuckle and muguet, followed by a sucker punch of tuberose-- rather like White Shoulders on steroids. Perhaps the pure parfum concentration contributes to this effect. I really have to be in the mood to wear this, as it is just as ultra-ultra floral as some of the wildly printed, shoulder-padded, froufrou dresses of the '80s. It's definitely not a skin scent, or a fruity scent, or a spicy scent: it's a whole lotta flowers. It's a nice nostalgia thing for me, but not among my faves. I do like the soft peachy packaging and the cute round bottle though.
