I use this when my lips are really dry and chapped, beyond repair. However, I can't stand the chemical smell. Works well, smells bad.

waxy feel keeps me away from this product. i have since found better ones. my fav lip balm is EOS in the mint green sphere and blistex makes some good ones. overall this is just a 'meh' product for me.

Maybe I've tried too many lip balms in the past or something, but I wasn't bowled over by this classic when I finally tried it.

PROS: It does give that cool, tingling feeling when you put it on. It's decent at 'soaking into' your lips, and it only has a slight medicinally smell that goes away quickly.

CONS: This balm is good for normal lips, but if you have really dry, cracked ones, it won't do much. It doesn't soften dry lips so much as it does simply sit on it, which is annoying. I find the Blistix balm (in the small blue tub) works much better at penetrating into dry skin and actually making them easy to rub / peel off if need be.

I love this product! I use it all the time. It makes my lips feel amazing and soft and my boyfriend loves it too. Somehow I'm always losing it though and I have to buy more! My brother uses it too because his medication gives him dry lips and it works wonders. Such a good product, i would buy it over and over again!

This is a good product to have on hand on the cold weather, always necessary for windy days too. Takes care of my chapped lips quickly but I do notice that after a while it dryer my lips and makes them hard (sometimes). Overall is a must around the house/car/purse.

I keep one next to my bed, one in my bag, and two others hidden in my house or clothing.
Love love love the original, especially in squeezy tube form, but the cherry and strawberry ones did not impress me. They tend to be more runnier than the others, and they have a horrible perfume taste. I would not buy those again.

I always have at least three of these on the go. One in my bag, one by my bed and one in my makeup bag. It's amazing stuff because it gets rid of chapped lips quickly and like nothing else. I'm not that keen on the taste, but it's a small negative. It's otherwise brilliant, and cheap too. Way more effective than everything else I've tried. I'll buy this forever. Every time I put it on now though I have to say 'yeah, no, yeah no' (ref. South Park).

I am a lip balm addict for almost 20 years. I have tried almost everything under the sun trying to find a holy grail.
This is a great lip balm - I've got one at work I use during the day; I just finished one that I placed in my bathroom.
However I still prefer Medex by Blistex.

Ingredients are not that good and you shouldn't use it for a long term BUT if you need to get your lips conditioned within minutes there's NO other balm on the market like carmex to do this!

This is one of my stand-by lip balms. I like the texture of carmex - it's thicker than vaseline. It's not too shiny on the lips and it is good value for money. It seems to last ages and feels tingly when you put it on.
It has camphor in it and that's what it tastes like medicine. It tastes pretty horrible but it breaks you of the habit of licking your lips so they don't get as dry.

I am reviewing the Carmex that comes in the squeezy tube.
APPEARANCE: It's just a clear gloss-balm that leaves my lips looking shiny and hydrated. It comes out a little yellow in the tube but definitely translates clear on the lips.
SMELL/TEXTURE: It has a very strong medicinal scent which I happen to dig. It is similar in consistency to vaseline/petroleum, but a smidge thinner. I don't taste anything when it gets in my mouth.
WEAR: it's pretty long lasting. I rub my lips together/talk/touch my lips a lot and this clings onto my lips pretty well. I usually wear this at night, before I go to bed, but it doesn't seem to smear on my sheets at all.
EFFECTIVENESS: this is the only thing that helps my dry, chapped lips in the dead of winter. When I put it on, I can almost feel the moisture pucker my lips back once more. After exfoliating, I apply a not-too-generous amount on my lips and rub it all around. I think the key is to not over-apply, thinking you'll get more of an effect if there's more product- because it'll just be goopy and gross.
I will always repurchase this as my go-to night lipbalm/emergency lip balm for extremely chapped/dry lips.
CONSIDER FOR:
- super dry, cracked lips
- a beauty on a budget
- those God-awful times when your lips get dry only because you realize you don't have lip balm on hand (you know what i'm talking about) and you popped into a drugstore for a quick replacement
SKIP IF:
- don't skip! give it a go. it's hella cheap so you're not losing too much if it doesn't work for you.

only good thing about this is that its so cheep.
I'm disappointed with it's smell ( I can't put up with) and no effectiveness.
my lips are still dry after I apply this, won't buy again

Just like listening to the Spice Girls, good old Carmex brings me back to my childhood. A classic standby, Carmex offers a refreshing menthol feeling and glossy finish - not to mention a price tag that's hard to beat. The consistency of the yellow gel is rather delightful - slippery enough to glide easily on the lips, but sticky enough to adhere for decent lasting power. I enjoy the signature scent, but keep in mind that it may not appeal to everyone. On the downside, Carmex doesn't provide enough moisture for my very dry lips. While the balm feels soothing when initially applied, it returns my lips back to their desert-like state as it wears off.
The Bottom Line: A decent buy for the cheap price, but not moisturizing enough for chronically chapped lips

I've read that menthol is actually bad for chapped lips, so I can't explain why this works for me. Feel it's too much for everyday use. I reach for it on the rare occasion my lips are dry and flaky. It seems to smooth and aid healing immediately. Have a love-hate relationship with the jar. I love texture of the product in the Carmex jar but this container seems very unsanitary. Tried the tube form and it just doesn't seem the same.

I was so hooked on this in high school, which is more years ago than I'd like to admit. :-) However, now it seems a little harsh. I may go back to it just to get rid of the flaky skin - nothing else seems to work for that. If you like menthol and cocoa butter, you'll like the smell, otherwise not.

First of all, I have only purchased carmex in the normal chapstick container, the one where you twist the bottom to get more product.
This chapstick is bomb. ok. It leaves my lips smooth and conditioned for a long time, whereas for other chapsticks, I feel like I have to constantly reapply and or wet my lips (neither works). I was using another brand that was not working, I finally repurchased carmex and the change was instant. This is a staple product. I only gave it 4/5 because perhaps there's room for improvement (doesn't smell good, sometimes leaves a whitish residue if it's cold) but as of now it's my favourite cause it gets the job done.

I can't believe there are bad reviews on this. Carmex is definitely my go-to lipchap along with my Blistex berry lipchap... It helps heal my occasional cold sores and keeps my lips nice and soft.

Dried out my lips badly, and made them super chapped. Plus I don't think the flavor or anything is too special. Not a fan, plus I think its kinda waxy.
