I'm a NC30 and this red looks amazing on me! I'm not a fan of frosty or shimmery finishes most of the time because they look cheap and tacky to me. I usually go for matte red shades. However, I tried this on and I instantly fell in love. It's a true red and not orangey at all.The frost is very subtle and the gold glitter sprinkled throughout the lipstick give your lips a nice 3D, multi-faceted look. Think a classic old hollywood red, with a modern twist.
This is advertised as a pigmented red. when I actually tried it on, it was sheer. The frost finish looked terrible with the shade and amount (or lack of) pigment. The only reason I kept it was because my mom liked it, and even then the lipstick still doesn't look how it was advertised. I usually am a big fan of MAC's lipstick because of the amount of pigment but this one just doesn't have it.
When I saw the pictures of this, I knew I had to have it. I've been looking for a replacement for my long-discontinued Port Red for years and years. The packaging on this is beautiful, and YES!! It's a DEAD ON DUPE for Port Red!! I can finally start wearing it again instead of rationing it! Yay!
This is listed as a blue-red lipstick by MAC. On my NC25 skin this looks, orange-red. Unless I cannot any longer tell the difference between blue and orange, this was a color list fail on MAC's part. I like the orange-red color that it is on my lips with my skintone.
It didn't leave a 'ring around' the lip, which is nice. The wear down is even and stays quite well through hours of eating/drinking of a normal work day.
This is a great red. I have a ton of reds and normally wouldn't have looked at this, but a MAC artist showed it to me. It's shot through with gold shimmer which is a nice play on the traditional deep red. This gives it dimension on this lips and I loved it once I tried it on. It's for a great cause, and the packaging is amazing as the tube is a rubberized deep pink. I would purchase again if I ever used this up.
I don't usually buy celebrity endorsed products, but since this is for a good cause, and I like reds, I decided to try it. Plus, I'd never used a red lipstick with a frost finish. I tried it and I love it. It's a beautiful red and the frost is barely noticable. I will repurchase. I used cherry, brick, and currant lip liner with it.
Beautiful colour. I put it on and walked in -19 C weather and it held up very well. A good bright red for NC20-25 skin. It's very shimmery too. The packaging, like all MAC lipsticks, is gorgeous and it comes in a red tube. Not a huge Rihanna fan but since every cent goes to charity, it's worth it.
Im so disappointed I ordered the lipstick off line and maybe its my faught I didnt bother thinking about the finish. It hideous on me I would have sent it back but the container is so sexy. So basically i just have it for the packaging. But at the end of the day the money went towards a good cause. I think the color looks like a old lady color on me something my grandmother would wear. Its a deep shiny red with it seems gold glitters ethier way not attractive. But the container is lovely if only it had a better color.
I guess it's just me, but on me this lipstick was just meh.
I believe I am darker than Rhianna, an NC43 or 44 depending on time of year. This lipstick is a frost but it doesn't come off too frosty when applied. However the color was a tomato red on me and not very opaque. I felt the texture and coverage was somewhat light. I applied this in the store and decided to wear it for a while and view it in natural sunlight. It started to fade after about an hour and just did not flatter my skin tone. MAC has lots of reds that give better coverage and flatter darker skin tones, but IMHO this is not one of them. I wanted to like this because the Viva Glam line supports a good cause, but I will not be buying this one.
Walked into MAC to look for a red and to pick out a few things I had been wanting for a long time and was told this would be the best red for me, and soemthing different. I saw the frost label and said, "uh no," but she persisted and said it did not come off frosty. I thought I would give it a go, she had helped me already with another lipstick that I had never seen that I love.
Wow...this is gorgeous. It's Viva Glam Red but its slightly metallic. It has a slight gold shimmer. I do not wear golds well at all because I am so cool toned, but this I can pull off like no one's business lol. It instantly made me look polished and put together. The rep immediately said "that's it, that's the one." I never would have ever even looked at this had she not shown it to me.
FYI, I hate shimmery lipsticks and anything with glitter turns me off. I am 39 and I feel like it ages me. This lipstick does not. It makes me look more may age but not in a bad way. Hard for me to put my finger on it but the rep said the same thing, it just makes me look more put together. I believe women in their 30's + look the best in reds and never before this age did I ever feel I looked that great in them, but now I do.
Red is that color that just instantly makes you look more mature, polished, and someone to be taken seriously. That is my opinion of course, but seeing it on women 30+ always looks better to me while the bright pinks look better on women under 30. I do rock my bright pinks though ;) BTW!!! Pair this with Cherry lipliner by MAC!! OMG!! SOOO gorgeous!
