I have been using the Falsies Flared mascara for over a year now. Haven't been able to find anything comparable. The only problem I had with it was that it would be SUPER runny when you first opened it and took about a week of use to thicken up. Then it would dry up fast which left you with a teeny tiny week/week and a half window where you have the most luscious lashes ever. Kinda waste of money. So I tried the butterfly and it had been fantastic. Very similar results (gives you that swoop on the corners). It does start a bit wet and can get a bit messy for the first week but I have had my tube for a month now and has yet to dry up as quickly. If you love falsies flared give butterfly a try.
This was not the greatest mascara. I thought that it would be really neat with the "butterfly" wand but it wasn't all that special. And once I used it, I realized it was a little cumbersome to use.
Makeupjunkie11786 wrote my review for me. Agree 100%. Its ok. I generally like L'Oreal mascaras. This one was nothing special.
I've been waiting for a DS mascara that lengthens and thickens without flakes or clumps! Even my previous HG, the falsies would start flaking down by cheeks near the end of the day. Loreal's Butterfly does the impossible; it doesn't leave a black mascara trail down my face, nor does it clump. The brush is a bit weird to get used to but when applied in a rolling motion by rotating the brush, I'm able to get crazy definition, especially on my teensy inner-most lashes that most mascaras cannot touch. Never liked plastic bristles in the past, but these are gentle and I don't feel like I'm going to impale myself in the process of applying. New HG mascara that's perfect for everyday use(3 coater) and can be built up for night time. Already have my stash of backups for when I run out;)
This is a really good mascara! I still prefer my regular "voluminous carbon black" but this is really good at separating and gives some length and it also grabs all your lashes easily even the tiny ones,i LOVE the brush, the only bad thing about it that also really surprised me is the ODOR, L'oreal mascaras usually dont have an odor at all to me but this one had a very strong odor, its tolerable and goes away though
I really hate to be a buzzkill and derail the bandwagon of fans for this mascara but to be 100% honest...It's not the best thing on the market. Is it a decent mascara? yes. I will give it that.
But the holy grail mascara of the century? most definitely not..
I didn't really like it at all the first time I tried it, and let me assure you that it had nothing to do with the brush because I am actually partial to plastic/rubber bristle mascara brushes as opposed to the traditional ones. But maybe that is also why I expected so much more from this mascara.. Although I really disliked it at first I decided to really give it a chance before writing a review. I've had it for about a month now and I just can't see the hype...
Does it lengthen decently? yes. Does it thicken your lashes? yes. Does it give killer volume? not so much. Does it define your lashes nicely? no. curl them? nope. I liked that it didn't smudge on your eyes while applying though and I liked that it has jojoba oil in the ingredients as a bonus (which is maybe why some readers say they feel it moisturizers their lashes) But overall it left me with just semi long thick on the verge of getting into spider lash territory type of lashes that I wasn't crazy about...for volume being the selling point of this mascara it didn't deliver on that claim...at least for me it didn't. and my lashes are a decent length to begin with.. Bottom line, I wouldn't say it's a bad mascara.. and of course Everybody is different so What didn't work for me might very much work out for you and vice versa but as far as I'm concerned out of the many mascaras I have tried throughout my life unfortunately this definitely didn't earn a spot in my faves
This mascara is the best ever! I was a die hard covergirl mascara user for years, and I went to CVS looking for the new Bombshell one but they didn't have it so I got this one instead (I also really like the name). Buying this was the best decision ever; my lashes have never looked so long, curled, and dramatic! I LOVELOVELOVE THIS! One thing to be aware of: the brush has this weird shape where the bristles on the one end are longer. I'm one of those girls who swivels my hand around to do my left eye, so this works for me, but it may not work for people who don't swivel their hand around. I also love how easy it is to take this off with makeup remover; it was such a pain to get clump crusher off and I can't tell you how many lashes I've pulled out because of it.
So now I've converted to L'Oreal and I would totally buy this again!
The BEST lengthening mascara I have ever tried! Doesn't do much for volume, but for length it is wonderful. Lashes were almost too long. I used 3 coats and the brush separated lashes well and it did not flake. If you are looking for length, give this a try.
I decided to give this mascara a try based on the reviews. I was just looking to try something new. I was extremely disappointed. The packaging is very nice but I don't like the formula or the brush at all. I layered and layered this mascara and it barely looked like I had any on. I have fairly long lashes with medium volume. I like a mascara that accentuates that and gives me long, lush, lashes. This mascara did not accentuate length or volume and even though I bought the blackest black you can barely tell it's on. I didn't like the shape of the brush or the rubber material at all. I had high hopes for this mascara but sadly, it's going in the trash.
I really like this mascara. The whole 'butterfly effect' thing really drew me in because I love butterflies and I'm a fan of that movie with Ashton Kutcher. Anyways, I love the packaging, it's not too bulky or cheap looking. The wand is fabulous because it helps get those hard to reach lashes in the corners of your eyes. I can get my right eye looking perfect, but it's a little harder to get the left as perfect because of the shape of the wand. The wand isn't even on both sides, so you have to maneuver it to where you really get those lashes good on both eyes. I can't really give exact directions on that because many people are left-handed. I'm a righty. The color is nice and black. I always get my mascaras in the blackest option available. It separates the lashes flawlessly and gives both length and volume. I would say it's more of a lengthening mascara. Clumping isn't an issue. I have had my lashes stick together some, but gross or chunky clumps won't happen with this mascara. I would stick to two coats and no more. I like this for my bottom lashes as well, but it's harder for me to do my left eye. If your're prone to messes, I would suggest another mascara for bottom lashes with an even wand. And finally, the price isn't bad at all and I got mine at Wal-Mart. If you're a mascara junkie like me, this is worth putting in your collection!
