Very light and fresh feeling on the skin! Luxuriously soft without being too strong or fragranced. I use this a primer and only apply a small amount. The after glow of my skin is amazing when I am all done up in my makeup. It makes my makeup lasts much longer than usual and softens my sometimes difficulty dry skin.
poor poor Flashbalm. I love it so and use it 2x week, usually for weekends out and on Monday mornings lol.
It's like caffeine for the face. When I feel grey and goofy, I will apply this as my primer and then do makeup. When I get off a plane and am dehydrated, this will be on my face before landing. A small pea sized amount patted in (do not rub) and follow up with makeup. I have used this alone with only powder and blush on top too and it still performs.
It has not failed me ever. Many years of repurchases I always keep one in my stash as well as in my travel kit.
I have had no allergic reactions, I glow when I use it. I would say, that sometimes.. only sometimes, it's better than bad sex.
I would give this 10 lippies if I could and that happens to my very rarely.
I am a 37 year old smoker with redness, sensitivity and dehydrated skin. I have gone for matt makeup all my life but am recently starting to experience benefits of stuff that adds a glow to my otherwise dull skin, especially after being exposed to cold and wind. My face has been dry recently and anything with powder as well as my holy grail foundation Parure Gold tends to look chalky on my face.
I bought this some time ago on a whim and without having read the MUA reviews, something I regret almost every time. Then I came home and read how this stuff balls up under foundation. That is something I seriously detest, so Beauty Flash Balm sat unopened and untouched on my vanity for a while. When I dared to use it, however, I got excellent results. Since than, this has been a staple in my makeup routine.
At first, even the application seemed demanding; you have got to pat it on your face, not rub it in and apply your makeup immediately afterward. I pat it on my face, apply my foundation with a flat brush or a damp beauty blender and do not experience any balling up. The result is an unbelievably well rested look with an inner glow, no shimmer or sheen, just a healthy glow. I get this even without a moisturizer or when I mix it with my foundation. With moisturizer, I use Sebamed, my makeup feels heavier on my face and results are exactly the same. On my face, this has balled up only once when I put my foundation on my face with my fingers, using circular motions. Other than that, I get really impressive, dramatic results every time and people comment on the good condition of my skin. This is so extraordinary in my life:) I am able to use powder and blush, both of which gave me a chalky face before this. Now, with powder I have porcelain skin and my makeup looks very complete.
I tend to skip extra stuff like highlighters etc when I use this because I do not want to mask the glow. Altogether, I strongly recommend this as a makeup base. As a mask, I have not benefited from it. Still, I could not be happier with my find.
I got a sample of this from Sephora with my points. I am not a fan of the fragrance. It smells like "old lady" to me. I haven't had any miraculous results, yet no adverse effects either. It did help a bit to cover large pores, but not enough for me to want to buy it. The search for a primer continues..
This broke my heart :(
Clarins is one of those companies that could sell me just about anything, and in this case it failed to live up to expectations.
It feels nice coming out of the tube, no complaints about fragrance or consistency.
Each time I used it my skin felt like it was suffocating.
It made my t-zone go into overdrive, so about an hour into it and my face was super shiny, like, mirror shiny. People could have used the reflection off my nose to touch up their makeup.
Plenty of break outs too, especially on my chin and forehead, big, painful ones that took ages of nursing and babying to clear up.
I'm swapping off my tube. Hopefully someone else can experience the magic this stuff supposedly works.
One MUAers magical glow could be another's acne nightmare.
Wow - this is a fabulous product that I am so pleased I was advised to use it - mainly as a primer - from my Clarin's consultant in New Zealand.
My skin has never been the same since I had a tough year on chemo, which really was bad for my skin and made me break out like never before - just horrible skin. I decided that I needed to get into a good brand, that was natural..... Clarins had everything I asked for.
It has been fabulous for me skin. I purchased the 30ml Beauty Flash Balm (I had read all the amazing reviews too). I use a very small amount and PAT it onto my skin - I do this after my normal routine and my multi active moisturiser. Once I have patted it onto my skin, I use my foundation over it. It is white in colour, and has a lovely fresh fragrance.
I put my foundation on immediately after - the Balm gives your skin that protection of a layer of natural goodness before smothering it in the foundation. It helps ensure an even & streak free coverage and keeps your face feeling fresh and alive all day! It helps retain the foundation all day too.
It has definitely lived up to its 'hype' and more for me. I am in my early 30's now and this is the best my skin has ever been (I have always had good skin - except during and after my chemotherapy - but Clarins has honestly cleared my skin up!) - and because my skin is so nice now I find I don't need to wear foundation daily, only for special occasions!
I love the fact it is all natural - as I am still fighting cancer, its nice to know I am only putting natural products into my body!
Will always re purchase Beauty Flash Balm & all my Clarins products - I have finally found 'MY' forever brand!! I know it may be slightly on the expensive side - but it is honestly worth it and because you are using just one pump at a time, it really is worth the money! Trust me!
Oh I love this stuff! Feels so luxurious!!! if you are having issues applying it then please please please look up how to apply it. I was having trouble too until I came across a YouTube video by Clarins showing how to apply the balm. Sits really nicely under my foundation. Much prefer this to other primers I've tried. Feels moisturising which is great for my dry skin :) don't mind the price because it lasts forever! one of my favorite makeup products!
Do NOT rub it in. What I do is, I squeeze out a bit of the product, slightly bigger than the size of a pea, and I use both handsIt to gently smooth it over my face. I do this for about 5-10 seconds. Then I immediately stop and put my makeup on. It forms a film (matrix) over your skin after it sets, so rubbing it too much after it already forms a film will just cause it to pill and not work.
It does have some color and added fragrance, so if those bother you, then don't use it. I've heard Lisa Eldridge (she also does several reviews where she shows you how to use it, FYI) say that she doesn't use it too much, as her skin gets used to it.
It kind of just feels like a lotion when you're just smoothing it on. I don't think it has any silicones in it, so if you're looking for silicone-free primer, this is a good option.
For me, it's hard to describe what it does, but mostly it just makes my skin under my foundation look really good. It doesn't really have any mattifying or oil controlling properties, but it's a solid primer and it makes my makeup look so much better. I have lots of other primers, but this is my favorite.
I use this after moisturizer and before the foundation. Once I've gently pat it all over my face I apply my makeup right away. I get tons of compliments on my skin glowing.. I think my makeup looks alot better and seems to stay on longer. When I get home and take my makeup off my skin feels awesome.. I have been trying Clarins serums, moisturizers and mask for the last 2 months and I will say I'm pretty blown away by how wonderful my skin feels. And it doesn't take much product.. On this particular product you are not to RUB IT IN. You pat it all over your face. Trust me, I rubbed it the first time and I also got the same result as some of you. Pat it and then put your makeup on right away... This stuff is awesome! :-)
Not really bowled over by this- it smells nice, does give a healthy glow immediately after applying- but give it 10 minutes and it makes me look a bit shiney- and I think it would effect the staying power of foundation (negatively). If you don't wear much make up and you have slightly dry skin anyway then this could be a great product for you. For me personally it just doesn't do enough to justify the price!
