I have a sample of this. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it yesterday afternoon. The fragrance is very light so I didn't expect it to last long. Boy, was I wrong! I could still smell this lovely scent this morning. It lasted overnight! I didn't think any light scents could last that long. I'm beginning to think all Calvin Klein scents last overnight because this is the third one to do just that. First, Euphoria then Eternity Aqua and now Downtown. Downtown is a combination of fruit and floral and clean scents. It's just a nice non-offensive fresh fragrance. It just smells good, period. I was not planning to purchase this perfume but now I need to re-think that.
Calvin Klein's Downtown perfume is an utterly forgettable, non offensive scent. Nothing gruond breaking or avante guard but it is nice though. A nice little fruity floral you can wear anywhere. I though i detected patchouli in this but i didnt see that as a listed note so i guess i am detecting the pink pepper. The pear note is kind of nice too but to me pear notes are difficult to detect but it is nice in Calvin Klein's Downtown. Downtown MIGHT work as a men's scent. It might be to fruity or florally though for most guys but it might. To me it is full-bottle worthy.
Love it! Such a simple and sophisticated day wear scent! It does fade away faster than other perfumes and it's not cheap, $60 for 30ml here in Aus but totally worth it. Me thinks I found my signature scent after all those years :)
I so wanted this to be my signature scent! Warm, light, carefree, everyday wonderful scent. But, after 15 minutes, no matter how much I spray on, the scent is gone! Even the lotion lasts 10 mins if I'm lucky. Very disappointing and a big waste of money!
A warm and light woodsy fragrance with gardenia. It is powdery without being cloying. Fresh and cozy is not easy to combine, but this fragrance does just that. It's soft but has so far lasted 7 hours on me. I took one off because it took several spritzes to really smell it on me. I haven't purchased yet, but I plan to. I love easy to wear scents like this.
Update, when I woke up, I could still smell the remains of this fragrance, so I am upgrading it to a 5.
I received a sample of this frangrance at Sephora. Every Calvin Klein fragrance that I've tried so far has been a disappointment. I had high hopes for Downtown because I initially do love the warmth of this scent. The opening notes on me are very welcoming and warm. The notes of Vetiver and Musk make me feel cozy like a cold night in front of a fireplace. The scent wraps around me making me feel a bit sexy but also comfortable. However, after an hour of wear, the cloying notes of Gardenia and Pink Pepper take over and I am left with a pounding headache! *Boom Boom Boom* my head literally pulses in pain whenever I put this on. I'm so glad that I received this as a sample because I originally was going to purchase it due to smelling it in a magazine. Conclusion. I never want to go Downtown again!
My immediate sense was one of pleasure. This is a scent that hugs you and just makes you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, it's similar to many others on the market today. Is it the pear or the plum again that makes it another common scent that's flooding today's market? Come the dry down, the pepper mixes in delicately to make this a soft fragrance perfect for any age, wearable to the office and perfect for day wear. It's a good relaxing perfume, one to go to sleep with, to spritz your pillows and dream. There's a fruity composition to Downtown and it makes the name a misnomer for some who might have been expecting something else to live up to this name. But, people should learn the name and the face that pushes the fragrance shouldn't matter about what's truly in the bottle. What is important is how a perfume reacts with your chemistry. If it makes you feel good, then it works. Downtown works as another fruity blend of 2013, adding the pepper with a dose of musk. If you don't already own this type of fragrance, certainly give it a trial run. If you do, sample it and see if it's one you'd like to add to your stock. Nothing special, nothing to write home about, nothing to remembered by. Just something comfortable, like an old favorite sweatshirt. Regardless, another one chalked up to the perfume annals of Calvin Klein.
Top Notes: Italian Lemon, Bergamot, Tunisian Neroli, Pear, Plum.
Middle Notes: Pink Pepper, Gardenia, Violet Leaf.
Base Notes: Texas Cedar, Incense, Vetiver, Musk.
This was my b-day gift to myself and I was very disappointed. It smells great at first spray but almost immediately it fades away to nothing. I'm returning immediately for something that's lovely AND lasts.
Nice fragrance for everyday. I love that it's sweet but in a grown-up way. Holding power is meh... Will probably not buy it (have a few samples of this).
I bought this perfume on a whim. I initially liked the scent because it smelled fruity and light but at the same time sophisticated. It doesn't last very long though and that's why I took a lippie off. I could see myself wearing this as an everyday fragrance. If it had staying power I would definitely repurchase.
