I like this concealer..... a lot!!! The shade "light" shade matches my skin tone PERFECTLY. I use it for days when I don't want to wear makeup, but still want to even out my skintone. I have a lot of redness and acne scars i wanna camouflage. This covers very well! I use this to also cover my under eye circles and this does a decent job. Doesn't settle into fine lines or cake up. The only down side is the color selection isn't too great. I have both "fair" and "light"..and since they are just one apart from each other...the color difference is pretty major! The light is much darker than the fair. Overall, i would still rebuy since it's super cheap, and works well!
As a concealer this is useless. I do however adore this for an eye shadow primer. It's super creamy and doesn't settle into lines, it 'disappears' once it's on the skin and it's very moisturizing. I would not buy this as a concealer.. but as a primer.. you bet!
update: if you use this under your eyes it looks cakey real fast :(
I bought this in light and fair because I wasn't sure which one would do the job better, I think one is more pink than the other....I forgot which one though (oops.)
I LOVE the consistency/texture/whatever of this, it's SO GOOD, I recently bought the nars creamy concealer (the wand one lol) and it's very similiar in texture and though the nars does blend better it's not that big of a difference. (what is different with the nars is that the color actually looks like a real "ethnic" person's skin color, I don't know why but drugstore products always seem to lean so pink, not everyone has the same undertones man :(
But whatever, I can just set it with powder and it's not THAT big of a problem anyways plus, the elf was 4 bucks for me (bought it in Canada) and the nars cost me 35 bucks (believe it or not folks)
to be fair (actually it's still not fair) the elf is considerably smaller than the NARS. I haven't checked the actual amount of product, 'cause I'm too lazy but just by using my eyes I think there is like 50 percent (or less-ish) product in the elf one.
I would say who cares but that's a LOT of packaging going into landfills...
bottom line: it's great! covers well, and feels SO nice!!! somewhat comparable to the concealer I always see it compared to.
I love all things ELF, but this is a definite 'miss' for me. This concealer is thin and it really emphasises cakey-ness around/under my eyes. I had heard such great things about it and I'm sad to say I really dislike it. Maybe it's just my skin that it doesn't play nice with, Im not sure because so many others Do love it and swear by it. I'll stick to their $1 all over concealer stick. I buy those 10 at a time. (I'm afraid they will discontinue it!)
This HD concealer (I'm fair so I got in the lightest shade) is too thin to be called a concealer, and honestly, I have pretty good skin and don't need much 'concealing' so I really don't need anything to cakey or heavy duty, but this just blended away to nothing. It's thin and sheer. Just a total NO for me. The price is great, It's only $3, so can't go wrong there if this works for you!
I bought this just to try. I didn't have any experience with elf's concealers but knew I had liked other products from their studio line. I bought this in the shade "Brightening" because I'm very fair skinned and the Ivory shade was too dark. This matched my skin pretty well even though it has a little more of a yellow tone than I am. This concealer was a great price and the packaging is really nice. It looks like a more expensive product with it's matte black cap. It has a standard doe-foot applicator and the product has a light, creamy consistency which is perfect for under the eyes. The product blends well and I set it with a powder. I haven't noticed any creasing on my eyes and it does an ok job covering my dark circles. It isn't the highest coverage under eye concealer I've used, but it is ok. Some days I don't want to cover up everything and prefer a more natural look, that is when I reach for this concealer. I haven't noticed much in the "lifting" from using the product. But overall I'm pleased with it.
I actually received this concealer as a free gift with my order, and it is now my HG concealer. I have the shade "Brightening." It has amazing coverage and eliminates under eye circles like nothing I've ever tried. It has a pretty strong yellow tone to it, which is why it's great for dark circles, but I also love this because I find a lot of foundations and concealers to be too pink on my olive (yellow undertoned) skin. I set it with my E.L.F. HD Powder in corrective yellow and it stays put perfectly all day. Honestly, I would choose this over ANY more expensive brand I've ever tried...and there has been A LOT! :)
I purchased this in the color Fair after seeing swatches of how dark this shade range runs. It matches my NC25 skin quite well and is very beigey-toned.
The coverage is light/moderate but does a good job for undereye concealing/brightening. I like that it is moisturizing and easy to blend in. I've also used it on my slowly fading acne spots and it did a decent job of covering them (keep in mind I apply my concealer after foundation). Lasts a good 10-12 hours on my combo/oily skin. Does not break me out, which is quite surprising because most ELF face products do.
I tried several of the dark/tan colours during the sale and none were a perfect colour match. Also, the green concealer did not do anything for me. It's decent for the price, I find it has a lot of product compared to other ELF items, and I wish that it would've worked out for me but it's not happening, I think. :(
I purchased this in Fair, Brightening, and Balancing during ELF's last 50% off sale. At $1.50 a piece, these are quite the steal! They are much more pigmented than I expected them to be and the two "correcting" shades I got are especially exciting to me since they are unique shades not usually found in a drugstore concealer line.
"Fair" turns out not to be so fair, and it's the lightest skin-tone shade available. I'm an NC15 in MAC foundations and it's more of a light-medium beige (looks to be NC25-30) that's too dark for me to wear on its own. But if I mix it with a bit of either of the two correctors, which are very light, I can custom-mix my perfect color match.
"Brightening" is a very pale yellow that works extremely well in the inner corners of my eyes to cancel out the blueish darkness there. As I mentioned, I primarily use it by mixing it with "Fair" to match my skin tone and then I can apply the product all over my face as a foundation. A little goes a long way and it looks great!
"Balancing" is a very pale lavender that sheers out beautifully. It adds an ethereal glow to my skin and counteracts any dullness or sallowness. Lately I have been obsessed with sheer lavender correctors like this one (see my review on the Almay CC Concealer + Brightener). I apply this to the center of my forehead, tops of my cheekbones, down my nose, cupid's bow, and chin. The effect is lovely. Just be careful to use only a tiny amount and blend it in really well.
The packaging of these looks very sleek - feels a bit cheap - but is definitely functional. The doe-foot isn't the most hygienic packaging for concealers but I always use this by applying some on the back of my clean hand rather than taking the applicator directly to my face. Hopefully this minimizes the bacteria and will keep the product fresher for longer.
The one negative I have to say is that when I use this under my eyes it doesn't blend out very well. It can get streaky and patchy and a bit dry. On the rest of my face, however, it's perfectly fine. I have oily/ combo skin so I'm not sure how well this would fare on drier skin types.
Regardless, these concealers are just $1.50 a piece during ELF's half-off sales (which happen quite often) and $3.00 at full retail price. So cheap! And I'm really impressed by the formula! I'd definitely repurchase this concealer in all 3 shades.
I purchased this product in Brightening from the ELF Store. The Sales Associate suggested this under concealer which is exactly what i was looking for. I see and use this product as a highlighting product not a concealer. I use this as I would a MAC prep and prime highlighting pen, YSL touché éclat, Givenchy mister light, etc... Under concealer for a brightening effect. I must say this product works very well. it also works in lightening your product (if you don't want to have a separate concealer just for your under eye mix this with your face concealer and it instantly makes a lighter shade.
