I love these lip lacquers. I own half the colors and if they were to come out with more or limited edition ones I would totally look into getting them.
The price isn't $0.99 but I get them for $5 (sometimes $4 with a sale) and they work better than some $30+ lipsticks I have bought.
The packaging is really unique and slightly edgy. There is a window right below the wiper that shows if the gloss has been pulled out and tested. This is ingenious and every lipgloss tube should have this feature.
The scent is the basic Rimmel scent that can be annoying for some but doesn't last long on me.
The colors are intense and opaque. These lip lacquers are loaded with pigment but feel incredibly light weight. I forget that I even have them on.
The applicator has a divet in the center of the foot to hold excess color and give better control when applying. I never have to re-dip the applicator to get more product.
Once the lacquer sets, it stays put for the most part. There will be some transferring but your lips will still look amazing.
I really can't recommend these enough. If you're in the market for an opaque, long lasting and lightweight lip color then you have to check these out.
Wow. This product impressed me. I knew it had rave reviews, and of course, some not-so-rave reviews. But still, wow.
When I was at the drugstore, I saw the display for these lip lacquers. It was almost completely empty. The only colours there were several nude/beige colours, and there was one bright pink. I bought the pink, though I normally wear very dark lip colours.
The colour is called Apocoliptic, and when I put it on, I loved it immediately. It is a very bright pink and it flatters my (very pale, cool-toned) skin tone. This is not at all a lip gloss. I repeat--this is not a lip gloss. The colour goes on opaque in just one swipe.
The applicator is very easy to work with, I love it. It has a little dip in it, to hold more product so that you don't have to keep dipping the wand back into the tube.
It is not sticky. It feels rather velvetly, though it's not matte--it dries, but there is shine to it. The scent is somewhat "fruity", which I don't at all mind, as it's faint and fades away once you apply the product, but this might bother others.
This is not a lip stain, it wears well, but don't expect more than two to three hours out of it, less if you're eating and/or drinking.
So, to sum it up, I love this product, I will repurchase, and I highly recommend it.
I bought this on sale I got galaxy #301, it's nicely pigmented with a berry liner. Wears off quickly and smells bad. I might not be able to use it again due to the smell.
Okay so I read the reviews and decided I wanted to try it. I got the color Comet because it was a really pretty mauve with a little shimmer. I have to say I love the color, but the staying power and texture is horrid. After wearing for 30 minutes with no food or drink it looks dry and patchy. No it isn't my lips because I keep them very well moisturized. The glitter in the product is gritty, and the product when you apply it feels thin but then dries unevenly so some parts of your lip feels dry and other parts feel like you have a gloss on. There is also no stain with this. I'm just not impressed. I think it is very overrated.
Didn't know whether to review on apocolips or show off, however since I'm in U.S. we'll do it here. So getting down to it...I love these! I think after purchasing my first (luna) I went out and got 3-4 more! Crazy pigmented, full on opaque coverage. No irritating scent, little bit goes a looong way. You have to be very careful when applying since they are so pigmented you can easily get outside the lines. The only little tiny con they have is that for my lips they can be slightly drying. I just use a lip balm under, wait 5 minutes then apply. Works like a charm and their staying power is pretty substantial coming in around 4-6 hours or so with eating and drinking. For such an inexpensive product I think you definitely should give these a try!
Show Off is the American version of Rimmel Apocalips with the same color range and color shade names, same packaging, but different product name on the tube. I give these a 4 because of how much they remind me of a much more expensive product, that being OCC Lip Tars. I find them about 90% similar with just a smaller color range and more appealing packaging. The scent is equally as bother some (to me) from both brands, not exactly unpleasant but something you want to sniff much either... Thankfully as bad as it is, its nothing you'll notice or taste on the lips.
The product as stated is a lip lacquer providing semi-glossy finish with full on color. While this sounds nice, the lighter shades often risk looking a bit bizarre on the lips and require more work or it'll look too pastel on the face as if you have a sticker of a pair of those crazy lip tattoos on. In this situation, I like to sheer out the color intensity with my fingers or a brush which means Rimmel's convenient wand packaging only actually works for the darker/bolder colors. Otherwise purely for aesthetics (from the cap resembling a black crystal) and partial convenience I still prefer this over the OCC tubes which causes the products to separate easily. I would have given this a 5 if Rimmel used a brush tip instead of this bizarre curved doe foot applicator added with the affordable price factor.
They're not meant to be moisturizing but it's long lasting just not to the extent it feels like paste on your mouth which requires scrubbing off with a brillo pad and hours of agony. If you like OCC lip tars, these are something definitely worth checking out. I suggest moisturizing your lips prior and wiping the excess balm off before applying to not interfere with the staying power.
I had first heard of these lip lacquer from a beauty guru on YouTube, I went to many drugstores looking for them like a crazy makeup maniac but no luck until after a while i walked into Walgreens and I was like oh here they are! there was many colors I just picked up two because I didn't really know how they would work for me. I picked up COMET and CELESTIAL they are beautiful rich colors I thought they would be of a lip gloss texture but it was more of a moisturized lipstick. the smell is amazing to me smells like cucumber. the price was around 4.99. the packaging is great I love the top looks like a black stone.
I bought this in Big Bang. I was going to buy a couple more from this collection, but then I backed out and decided to only get this as I have not been 100% impressed with all the products I've bought from Rimmel in the past.
I line my lips with a red lip liner from MAC first and then apply this. The applicator is a doe foot, but it has a weird little dent in the middle so it kind of "cups" the lip product. I think perhaps it puts a little too much on your lips than it should because I too have had this product transfer onto my teeth just about every time I apply or reapply. It doesn't really bother me because I can wipe it off my lips and then not have a problem with it happening again. As far as lip glosses/lacquers go this one stays on for a decent amount of time. You do have to be careful because it stains. So if you get it outside of your lips it might get a bit crazy. I think that is just to be expected with red. It is a high maintenance lip color.
Overall I am impressed with this lip product. It does leave a stain after the gloss wears away and it isn't entirely even, but it isn't bothersome either. I'm definitely going to go back and buy more from this line. Glad I gave it a try! :)
First of all I was confuse with the name. In the UK it called Rimmel Apocalips when it hit the U.S It was called Rimmel Showoff and when it hit Canada it was Rimmel Apocalips. I wish they didn't change their name of the products.
I was at my local drugstore store seen the new Rimmel Apocalips on display. I notice the package it have a seal with the number and the colour name on it, mine came with the plastic wrapper so no one can't open and test it out. I wish Rimmel inprint the colour on the tube it be easier to look at and know the colour. I picked up Nova. It a really nice medium pink that I can wear to work everyday. It have a doe foot applicator, which I like it just because it pick up alot of product. When I apply it on it feels sticky and smell werid. It transfer little bit off when I drink out of my straw. After hour I notice the colour fade matte. Where I shop I have to check the price and display just because different stores have diffrent price and more colours to choose from.
I picked my mine up at Shopper Drugs Mart it $9.99 there were 12 shades to choose from.
At Wal-Mart there were 8 shades for $7.98. At the the Rexall there were 8 shades but I'm not sure how much it they just put it out on display. Superstore have 12 shades it was $9.99 I think. London Drugs they dont have it out yet.
Overall i am not impressed with these!
I am a lip color JUNKIE! and i was sososo excited to get a hold of some of the colors!
I bought 5, a couple nudes, some reds and a pink.
The colors are very bright and pigmented, go on very smoothly.
But for one, they get all over your teeth when you first start applying, and two, if you are not careful, they get all over the outside of your lips! the applicator is not super convenient.
The lasting power isn't great and i don't like how they feel on the lips after an hour.
If you still want to try them after reading this review, i suggest you buy one and just see how you like the formula and the applicator before buying more.
