The color is to die for. I'm very pale with dark hair and it looks amazing. I just can't stand how much it dries out my lips. It doesn't glide on easily and it's difficult to touch up easily.
I'm not much of a red lipstick person, but I can confidently say that I have found my go-to red lippie for ages to come. I practically gave up looking for the right red lipstick for me-- everything I tried was too bright, too dark, too drying, smears a lot, yadda yadda yadda. I think it's important to note that I have never tried Ruby Woo before, and I probably wouldn't have tried RiRi Woo if it weren't for the rose gold packaging! ;P So yeah, the branding worked on me, that's for sure.
It's the combination of a beautiful shade and great matte finish that sealed the deal for me. My lips are really dry and the last thing I need is a lipstick that amplifies that dryness and does even more damage. I find the velvety Retro Matte texture to be really gentle on my lips, sometimes even concealing tiny cracks. Understandably, it's pretty hard to apply directly from stick to lip. I do believe that red lipsticks should always be applied with a lip brush anyway.
Of course, the perfect bluish-red cherry on top of this rose gold sundae is its shade. It just brightens my face! Something I never asked for but was given to me anyway. Awwww <3 I look so awake and happy and lively when I have it on!
The only thing I don't understand is how a lot of people keep saying that they never had to touch it up! Are these people on a diet? Do they take their food intravenously? I drink my coffee through a straw and I still need to do a light retouch. I even tried to dab a coat of lipstick sealer on top of it and the sealer still proved inadequate when pitted against a normal midday snack. Could it be because I live in a very humid tropical country?
Riri Woo is definitely a great shade to sport, even with the minor setback of needing more trips to the ladies' room (compared to wearing lip tint or any MLBB shade). Surely buying this (or Ruby Woo) again! :)
One of my favorite red lipsticks! But it's too matte. Still, I love the shade.
So when I saw Riri Woo was available again online, I scooped it up to see if it was worth all the hoopla. I must say, I am impressed but I don't own Ruby Woo so I wasn't getting a shade I already had a near clone of. A classic red shade was missing from my lipstick wardrobe, so I took the plunge with this to add a needed color and perhaps just a little bit of bragging rights for snagging such a popular shade.
The Retro Matte finish does not work tube to lips for me, this needs a lip brush and crisp application to really look nice. Some may not like the extra work here, but red lipstick isn't something I think a haphazard application works on me, I don't mind. The staying power of this makes it worth while as well, the only thing I've had budge this off my lips was fairly oily pad thai.
If you missed out on this, I wouldn't stress as Ruby Woo is almost the same thing and MAC is expanding the retro matte finish color range. I'm glad I got it, but I don't think it'd be worth shelling out extra money for when it's permanent range identical twin sister (sans tattoos) is readily available. Likewise, Rihanna's make-up artist's line Melt Cosmetics has a shade called Belladonna 2 that is also very similar, but vegan in formula. I wonder if Rihanna is really wearing Melt's shade rather than MAC's lately as it would be very hard to differentiate between the two. It's another option for those who may be looking for something outside of a MAC dupe that's Rihanna approved.
I waited until the fall collection to get this in the special packaging. I love the color. It's basically ruby woo which I already own but it appears brighter to me. In all honesty I think it's the same damn color after trying both on my lips at the same time. Maybe my ruby woo oxidized a but since it's old??? I don't know. It's a really nice blue toned red. The matte formula is amazing. It's light and not drying in my opinion. Yes it's dry but not drying. The color pay off is great too! It lasts all day. After I eating I reapplied lightly. But unless your a Rihanna stan... You can pass on it or just get ruby woo
I definitely recommend this to women of all skin colours . It appears differently on different skin tone. me and my friend bought this and i find it appears brighter on my skin tone while darker on my friend. btw, I'm Asian with yellow undertone. It lasts for about 5 hours on me with snacking and drinking in between but it wears off when I eat (note that Malaysian food is oily n spicy). But I beat it will survive with a less oilier food. Riri woo is just the same with ruby woo. you can see the difference when they are swatched side by side but unnotice-able difference when on lips.
I've purchased a lot of red lippies the past couple of months, ranging from Revlon to NYX to Urban Decay. This is by far my favorite red lipstick! Holy crap, its like crack. The new retro matte finish gives the most beautiful matte, but not overly drying, look. They don't slip and slide on my lips and they last a couple of hours on... though I don't mind reapplying because the rose gold packaging is so darn cute! LOVE IT!
Lovely lip colour, lasts pretty long and works really well with Asian golden indian complexions however this colour probably works well for any complexion.
Like the texture and works as part of a nice day time look or a glam evening look.
Worth the buy, shame they are only limited edition!
Great matte red that isn't going to budge on you. Its very important to first line your lips before application of lipstick to give you a more polished look. Against my NC45 skintone it definitely brightens me up. Very impressed with the retro matte finish. Worth every penny and it actually beats out my pricier red lippies in my collection when it comes length of wear.
I do not own nor have I ever tried Ruby Woo. When this came out one of my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube Miss DRBrooklyn730 reviewed both by putting them on at the same time, one on her lower lip, the other on the upper. Since Riri Woo was brighter I figured I'd go for it and I got two. This is a gorgeous pinup red with saturated color. It lasts forever and just gives youths tout together look. I wore this today with foundation and mascara only so that,y lips were the focal point. Very well done, Mac. Quite flattering on my NW45 complexion so I hope darker ladies are not afraid to try it.
