This product is ok, but nothing to write home about. I have fine hair and it doesn't weigh it down, smells ok and I am assuming that it does provide heat protection, but it doesn't create any sort of shine on my hair or tame flyaways.
I hate the packaging though - I have the one in the regular spray bottle in the picture, not the one with the unusual head. The sprayer broke half way going through this bottle and made it difficult to spray any product out.
I have fine hair that is super dry at the ends and a little greasy at the roots. I have about 6 inches of new hair growth and the rest is blond color I'm letting grow out so it's super dry and damaged. I recently had almost 3 inches of hair cut off because I wasnt using a heat protectant before my daily blow dry. My hair is super slow growing and don't want to have that much cut off again so I decided to try this heat protecatant since it received great reviews.
I've been using it for a couple days now and don't see or feel any difference in my hair. I gave my shoulder length hair 10 generous sprays after toweel drying hair, let it sit for a minute, then combed through my hair. After blow drying I expected to see amazing results like others who have posted. I saw nothing different. Maybe my hair has a little shine but nothing really noticeable. Still have frizz, hair is not that much smoother, and not anymore moisturizes then usual. I'll continue to use it though because I do need something for my daily blowdry.
Pros: very cheap $5.00
Doesn't leave hair sticky or stiff
Can spray all over hair and doesn't leave roots greasy
Doesn't weigh hair down
Cons: smells like alcohol and stays in your hair all day
Product drips out of nozzle when spraying on hair
UPDATE: been using this for a week and don't like it. It makes a weird coating on my hair after a couple days. Like plastic. My hair looks good but the feel is very weird. Like a plastic barrier around each strand of hair. I'll use it on occasion but not everyday.
Highly recommended. Been using this for about 6 months now and its a summer favorite, which says a lot as I've used many types of heat protectants over the past 15 years. Normally sprays dont impress me too much, but this is an excellent quality that smells wonderful and works at protecting your hair, bonus is that it noticeably reduces frizz and fly aways. Great value and highly recommend for $5 a bottle. Leaves hair smooth, shiny, protected, and bouncy! Doesn't offer any hold even if you get heavy handed so if you want something to set styles you'll need to use a finishing spray, or try the Tresseme Heat Tamer which left a little more option for hold and is also a good quality protectant. For reference, I have healthy natural dense, fine, curly mid-length 4A/b hair and love using before blowing outs. I've also used it as a leave in on wet hair and it works well for that too. :)
Maybe this is a little premature, but I bought this yesterday. I used it this morning after my shower and this is the best my hair has ever looked or felt.
I have long, poker straight, medium thick hair. I like to curl the bottom half to give it a little life, so my ends get a lot of damage. I was relying on leave-ins to control it, but that wasn't working and having so much thick product at the tips of my hair was causing breakouts on my back and shoulders. I decided I needed something more specific.
I found this for two dollars off at Walmart.
Normally, after I curl my hair, it's a fight to get my fingers through it halfway through the day. Sometimes I'd end up with a nasty bed of knots right behind my neck.
Not now! It's still super smooth..it's felt freshly brushed all day. I can't stop touching it. There's no residue at all. The curls have even stayed better than they usually do though I didn't use any gel or hairspray. I'm going to go home and throw out a bunch of crap that wasn't doing me any good.
Sooooooo many people recommended the original, overrated Tresemme heat protection spray (Heat Tamer??? I believe) to me but it never worked on my hair. Tresemme Platinum Strength spray had the same downfalls too (added 0 moisture).
Tresemme's Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray on the other hand, has been wonderful. This is going to be a staple in my haircare collection. I spray it on my damp, towel dried hair & massage it in. At first, hair feels too slippery, as if you've applied too much. Just hold your disappointment until hair is dry, because that greasy coating goes away. I have very thin, very fine, dry, damaged hair. Keratin Smooth doesn't weigh it down & yet it manages to add a lot of moisture + shine. I used to have to shower everyday but now I can skip a day without gross looking hair. Although the effects don't last once shampooed out, Keratin Smooth does make my hair look a LOT healthier while applied.
I bought this soley as a heat protectant, and was pleasantly surprised by how much more it's done. I will repurchase.
This is amazing! I used to use the original Tresemme heat protection spray and ran out. I went back to Target to repurchase it, but I ended up grabbing this one instead because the "keratin smooth" caught my eye.
I'm so glad I did! I have very thick, bleached/dyed hair and this helps smooth my hair out so beautifully. I use to before I blow dry my hair and again before I straighten it. I find that when I don't use this, my hair is frizzy and unruly!
It has a nice scent, nothing too overpowering. The packaging is great; it sprays evenly and it's not too much. It's great! Definitely would recommend to everyone!
I actually really like this stuff. it doesn't make my hair have a.weird texture or greasy it makes it soft and shiny I use a buttload before blow drying and then again before heat styling. its doi.g wonders for my hair. the smells okay.
I absolutely love the original tresemme heat protectant, but I think I might switch over to this product. Reason is because of the shine effect!!! I love that this spray protects your hair from the heat and it leaves it looking shiny and healthy. Smells great. Definitely would repurchase!
This made my hair softer than just about any other product I've ever used!
I have frizzy, wavy hair and blowdrying with this made it incredibly soft and quite a bit smoother than usual. I still have to flat iron my hair to get it perfectly smooth, but this is my favourite heat protectant right now (and I have tried many). I like it better than the original formula.
It was only $4 so I would definitely recommend trying it!
My HG heat protection spray! I absolutely love this stuff!!!!
My hair type is very fine/thin, and UBER frizzy.
First of all, the spray is not good! it sprays in small amounts..and it's very messy.. I actually had to switch out this spray applicator with the one from my original Tresemme heat protectant which I like so much better.
So the way I apply this is I section my hair in 2 parts, spray it onto my hands and then with my hands I apply the product onto my hair, comb it through and go straight to blow drying, and the first thing I noticed was my hair was like BUTTER!
in a very good way! automatically it detangled my hair completely (not that I have a problem with this) and made my hair sooo smooth and silky!
I was surprised because I had 0 hope in this product, and best of all my hair was not weighed down! which I was also loved, after trying so many smoothing products in the past all they did was weigh down my hair and made me a grease head.
I have also tried many heat protectants before but they were very drying, so I was surprised to see that this one did not dry out my hair.
It left my hair very very soft, silky, healthy looking, shinny, smooth! I couldn't believe it was my own hair!! I'm serious! It looked soo healthy!
This thing is like a 2-in-1, heat protectant and serum! It got rid of all my frizz I also use it after blow drying I spray some in my hands and work it through my hair and it helps smooth it down extra from blow drying.
So, It def. got rid of all my frizziness, like nothing before! not even kidding!
Ooh and the smell! is actually nice it smells like a really expensive shampoo + it has a light floral scent I would say. no alcohol in it which is another plus, the original Tresemme heat protectant was uber drying on my hair! because it contained alcohol.
And another plus! it has Biotin!!! which is awesome! and so good for your hair, I was surprised that this contained Biotin and really excited to see that.
I would def. recommend this product to anyone with dry/frizzy hair. Def. HG for me so far! will def. repurchase, so glad I purchased this.
