I really wanted to like this product as I normally do well with Clinique, but it was impossible. This product was absolutely horrid for me. I have forced myself to use half the bottle as it was expensive and I wanted to give it a fair shake, but it's intolerable and has to go. The formula is SO thick - I had to mix it with my regular moisturizer in order to even spread it evenly. Otherwise it just kind of got stuck on my skin and left streaks. The coverage, even cut w/a light moisturizer, is extremely heavy and cakey. It's the only product I've used that actually rubs off and leaves makeup marks on any piece of clothing it comes in contact with, not even my long wearing foundation does that. Worst of all, it gave me terrible cystic acne. I'm 33 years old and have never had breakouts but I'm guaranteed at least one huge and painful pimple every 2 weeks on this. Sadly, an all over fail.
This is my favorite makeup of all time! It has excellent coverage but looks completely natural. Keep in mind that while this product can replace foundation, it is NOT a foundation, so it will not feel like foundation. It does feel heavy when you first put it on your skin because it is a "cream", but give it a chance to soak in and I think you will find that it is very lightweight. This product is perfect for my combination skin. I would not recommend this for oily skin, unless you used a mattifier and a setting powder. I don't need to use anything with this on my skin. It gives me a natural, dewy finish that is just gorgeous. The first day I wore this CC cream, I was at work and a lady came up to the desk and looked at me and said "wow, you're beautiful!" First time a random stranger has said that to me! If you like creams over foundations but still want the excellent coverage, give this a try. I also think that at $35 it is a very good value. You only need a pea-sized amount to cover your face, so the tube lasts for a really long time.
Something about myself:
Chinese ethnic lives in humid super hot tropical city
skin type: combination oily with acne prone, the yucky oily mostly appears on my T zone (a lot!), my chin and my monolid's eyelid
skin color: NC30 or C3 on MAC, with yellow undertone
- I bought this on natural colour, matches perfectly on my skin
- paraben free
- decent amount of SPF (30) with natural sunscreen ingredient
- blend nicely with finger (my favorite method, I don't really like using brush to blend my foundation/bb cream, am planning to try beauty blender though)
- great packaging, easy to travel with, very light, and you can cut it when it is finishing
- it doesn't smell at all, I couldn't smell any perfume in it. It doesn't state any perfume on the ingredient also.
- too greasy on my oily skin. I already use MAC blot powder on top of the cc cream, but it only holds 4-5 hours until it becomes so greasy.
- I think it breaks my skin out, I'm still suspecting, need more time to actually sure about this since I have only been using this on and off for 2 month.
- very low coverage, even for daily use, it could wiped easily from skin when it becomes too greasy.
- quite expensive
I really really really really want to love this product, but each time I use it, the more I hated it. But I will try to finish the whole bottle and see if I change my mind.
I normally like Clinique products. They have launched it exactly at the moment I needed a buy a new foundation so I didnt hesitate.
Now, I want my foundation to be like the clothes I choose to wear: to look nice but also to be cozy, comfy and provide comfort all day long would it be in work, after work drinks, dinner with a special one.
So I like my foundation to look natural and nice but its also hugely important to me that it wears nice. That it wraps my skin, give it an extra moisture and feels comfy all day.
Unfortunately, the new Clinique CC cream is really sticky after its applied. Skin is really not nice to touch, it has a wrong texture. I disliked it straight away after first application.
I bought this with high expectations and was let down.
It was easy to apply on my skin and it did cover some of my dark spots around my cheeks. The packaging is nice, compact and it was easy to squeeze the cream out of the tube. The cream stayed on for a good 2 hours before my skin started to oil a little. I had to touch up a few times because the cream did not stay on for too long. It lasted for a mere 3 hours tops.
The coverage is good but the formula is very oily.
I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to make-up, but I do know that I usually have a hell of a lot of trouble trying to find products that match my skin tone. For reference, I'm Indian with serious yellow undertones and oily/combination skin. I also have fairly bad acne and a decent amount of scarring/discolouration.
I'd heard about the wonders of BB/CC creams, but was hesitant to buy online and wind up with something that made me look like a pink cake-face, so I went to Myer to test out a couple of products. After trying out a few different foundations from a variety of brands, I decided to go with this 'medium deep' Clinique CC cream.
IT'S AMAZING. A tiny pea-sized amount is enough to cover my whole face, and after applying with a foundation brush the results are pretty remarkable. My skin tone is completely even, and it doesn't even look/feel like I'm wearing anything at all! It does feel a bit dewy upon application, but that only lasts for a little while. Although you can still see a bit of discolouration, I just use a bit of Estee Lauder Double Wear Mineral Rich Loose Powder makeup and I find that this combination lasts for ages (seriously I can have it on for a whole day, sleep with it, and it still looks awesome the next morning - and it doesn't make me breakout!). Additionally, this combo completely prevents my face from getting oily during the day. I've also tried using some Estee foundation in between the two, but I think it feels a bit too thick and there's really no need for it.
The CC cream is sufficient on its own if you're in a rush, or just want to duck to the shops or something. My main issue is that I'm really self-conscious of my acne, so I'll consistently moisturise, then use the CC cream with some sort of powder to finish the job. You can still see a teeny-tiny bit of scarring etc., so if you wanted hardcore coverage, you'd probably be best using a MAC powder foundation on top of the CC cream, but the MAC foundation I have isn't exactly my colour so I'd rather go with a more natural look that matches my skin perfectly.
I'm just so glad that I've found something that suits my colour! I know I've said this already, but somehow this product works wonders for my skin while still looking completely natural. Love it!! xx
First let me say its sticky and the lightest shade was still to dark plus very pink. The lighting at Macy vs the natural is huge!!!! It's so heavy I might as well wear a full coverage foundation. Never buying again.
This is the only CC cream I have found to work with my skin. I have oily/combination skin, so it's hard to find a product that doesn't make oily areas more oily and dry areas more dry, but this one works beautifully. I got it in the summer, so it's a little dark now, but I can mix it with a lighter shade foundation to get a nice light-medium coverage. Anyway, this is a lot different than a regular foundation in the sense that it doesn't make your skin look flawless, but it evens everything out and cancels a lot of redness out, along with being an SPF 30 moisturizer. It's perfect for days when you want a really natural look, or for anyone that has clear skin but wants a little extra coverage. It kind of lumps several products into one, so it's great for mornings when you're in a rush too. With all of that being said, though, my skin does start to look oily midday, but it's nothing that blotting papers or powder can't fix. Overall, this is the single best CC cream/face product in general that I have found yet.
At first i thought this was not for me but as i change with weather and wear less makeup, i have grown to love it. I used to wear lots of makeup but working at an office where i am always busy i look for more natural looks. This gives coverage without looking fake. I do have big pores so i use a pore serum before this. It hydrates as well i wear light medium so i am not really fair. I don't find it gets darker during the day but i do get shiny on my forehead and chin and i just use a matte powder to cure that. Overall love it. No issue with my acne either.
I love this cc cream. It makes my skin look flawless and glow like jlo. I also feel like it's helping with dryness and fine lines :-) my skin is super sensitive and it's working perfectly for me.
