I'm so excited to review this product, well I just recently purchased this when I saw it in stores, I was looking for any clarifying or gentle shampoo. I had gone through a bs allergic reaction to my previous shampoo and conditioner (matrix biolage hydrotherapié) I saw this and the smell really did allure me it looked fairly gentle and clarifying I do use this shampoo with the shine collection (pink bottle with rose hips) conditioner, I have been getting constant compliments on the smell of my hair. This shampoo has not failed to blow me away, since the first day I used it it took away my itch and red bumps from the allergy, my hair is so much shinier and luxurious it feels a lot cleaner and I love that the shampoo is in a gel type consistency rather than the latest shampoos that have a more thick pasty consistency! I love the packaging myself but I feel like it doesn't really catch a customers eye, I do feel like they should redesign the packaging to look a little bit more updated, not extremely flashy colors with funky bottle shapes like the modern herbal essences but still a clear bottle with more color! This product has really stolen my heart, my hair has stopped falling out too!
This is my HG shampoo. I tried lots of shampoo but my scalp is very sensitive with some of the ingredients and I always ended up with dry flaky dandruff on some spots and itchy oily on others. I tried Pantene, Garnier, organix,l'oreal, etc. nothing worked and made it even worst especially the Garnier shampoos. I have veryyyyyy long hair (past my bottom) and because of this I have dry ends. This shampoo is pretty clarifying so the way I use this shampoo is I lather my scalp and hair down to my shoulder and leave the rest of the hair be. When I rinse the lather will run down and clean the rest of my hair without being to "squaeky" clean to the point of stripping all of my natural oil. Unless I feel like my hair is very dirty that's how I wash my hair (every 3rd day). Sometimes I switch up with the pink colored one but this one is my fave. I always buy mine from target.
I like the sent of this shampoo and I like the way it makes my hair look but I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to it. I've been breaking out in red bumps behind my ears and along my hairline soif you have sensitive skin I'd avoid this.
Love this shampoo! Smells amazing and leaves my hair super soft and shiny. One of the best shampoos I've had in a while. My hair actually doesn't fall out as much as before which is great because my hair fall out all the time. Would definitely buy again
I used to use this shampoo (and conditioner) in my early twenties until it was no longer available. I loved it then, and, almost ten years later, I love it now.
Here are my reasons: I absolutely hate residue and need a shampoo that rinses clean and doesn't cause build up or oil. This does that for me. I use a clarifying shampoo once a week and this every other day and my hair is shiny and build-up free.
Which brings me to my next reason- the shininess. My hair really is shiny when I use this (with the conditioner).
Third reason- the smell. It lingers on my hair the whole day. Everyone tells me my hair smells good. It's subtle, on me at least.
And last- it's cheap! Usually five dollars or less. Can't beat that.
I really hope they keep this around for a long time.
I have pretty picky hair. It's very long with oily/dandruffy gross scalp issues unless I'm using a clarifying shampoo every couple of days, or a shampoo with tea-tree oil. I also have really dry ends.
On a whim I decided to buy this and try it out, and surprisingly, I haven't had any scalp problems at all! The weird thing is, I haven't been rotating it with any other shampoos.
No dandruff, no zits (which I will occasionally get on my scalp, unless using tea tree oil) and super shiny hair that smells great. Yeah, my hair still gets oily within a few days, but it always does that. 'Cause it's straight. Whatever. I don't even wash my hair every day.
(FYI, I only use it on the scalp, right now I'm using the Herbal Essences Honey-whatever-crap-conditioner on my ends and that is not working out too well.)
Now, my hair doesn't feel quite as SOFT as it has in the past, so I think I may rotate this with a more moisturizing shampoo every few days. I haven't noticed any hair loss and my hair is actually really shiny now, my mother even told me it looks healthier, so I don't think it's actually damaging my hair.
Now, I love the smell. I think that's the real allure of the product for most people. And it lasts! A long time! But the other day I was talking to my father and he asked me if I was wearing a new "cheap perfume" or something, because it "stank." I leaned in and he sniffed my hair and confirmed that's what the smell is... :( I guess this isn't the most dad-friendly shampoo (hopefully it's still boyfriend friendly?)
TL;DR: Shiny, happy hair with a side of daddy issues.
I saw this at a bed bath and beyond a few months ago and was so excited they brought it back because I remember using it as a kid and loving the smell. This is the old school herbal essence in the old bottle with the dark green cap. However, once i started using it i noticed that my hair was falling out more than usual. I kept on with it for a few more weeks until finally it got to be too much and i switched to a different shampoo. Now i think it's much better. too bad because the smell was amazing.
I was so excited to see HE brought back some old formulas! I bought the shine shampoo and conditioner and couldn't wait to try them. Im sorry to say I didn't like it. When lathering the shampoo, my hair turned into a giant, slimy, sudsy mess. It took a long time to rinse out. I followed with the conditioner which matted my hair. I tried to style as usual but my hair was coated, way too fake looking shiny, and weighed down. I have fine hair and this product is just way too heavy. I wish HE would come back with the pink formula they had years ago. It had rose hips I'm it and smell so good! That one was purfect for my hair.
FINALLY. I cannot tell you how happy I am that this product is back on the shelves... I was so bummed out when it was replaced by these ridiculous flashy colored, sloganed, funky shaped bottles... it seemed like they were trying to change their target buyers from the everyday woman to the pre-teen/teenagers. There was absolutley NOTHING wrong with the two staple shampoos they originally had- one for shine, one for volume... they were basic, smelled wonderful, the formula worked beautifully. I just dont get it. I understand that they were trying to appeal to a broader market, but with those other shampoos... they had me switching from their product to pantine pro v, something i didnt like as much- but was a solid pick overall. I dont know why they decided to bring back a throw back shampoo from many many years ago- but i am not complaining. As long as they have the two original herbal essences on the shelf, I will continue to buy their product. Clairol, please dont let us down and break our hearts again- by discontinuing this for a second time. Keep it around, because you will have forever customers with these two shampoo and conditioners. <3
I'm so glad that they brought this back! I really hope this doesn't go away again, as I love this line. And the fact that they brought it back without the silicone and lower sulfates makes me even happier.
