Jour d'Hermes gave me an impression of various citrus, creamy, but a bit sour with an "off" note about half the time on me. YMMV

Another grapefruit based-scent by J.C Ellena, here blended with amber...so blah!

It opens up with a bitter orange note but the bitterless quickly melts down. My nose picks up orange blossom, rose, mango and a faint musky woody base. I don't detect any vegetal note and it's not very musky. The overall affect is bright and light. It smells like a sunny day in late Spring or early Summer.
It has a distinctive JCE stamp on it.

I love J.C.Ellena's work in general but it's obvious that he didn't read my review on Un Jardin Sur Le Toit here on MUA before he created Jour d'Hermes:)) That one was an epic fail on me because of some rotten, bitter vegetation note. Same problem here. After a light and bright opening, the evil rotten celery stick shows its face again and I recoil. Other than this strange interaction with my chemistry, I believe Jour d'Hermes is very much within Ellena's paired down aesthetics, perhaps this time appealing to a more demure audience. His Un Jardin Apres La Mousson is still my favourite but I know that I'm in the minority here because it ranks even lower than Un Jardin Sur Le Toit here. As for the bottle, I think it's very sophisticated, even sexy.

This is what I wanted UJSLN to be. This is brilliant in that the floral elements are not high-pitched and fruit component isn't syrupy. The scent has great sillage and will be lovely in the warmer months. Nothing like Baiser Vole as mentioned below.

My immediate first thought was "I've smelled this before!" Then I realized where. It's very similar to the Jessia McClintock I purchased way back in the 80s - a clean, fresh white floral with lily and citrus and green notes. But whereas I couldn't tolerate JM (too cloying and headache inducing) this is at least wearable, a more elegant and balanced formulation, albeit not exactly 'me'. It seems a good warm weather scent and I'll give it another try during the summer to see if I have a better impression. If you like JM or this family of fragrances then give Jour a try. Pretty bottle and classy packaging is a plus, high pricing's a minus.

Ah....Hermès and its glorious packaging! I was instantly drawn to touch the heavy glass with rounded edges (reminescent of the Jardins bottles but more refined), sturdy but very feminine bottle, a pleasure to handle.
The outer packaging is also extremely elegant: pure white, the name "Jour d'Hermès" engraved in gold lettering, and most of all, the brilliant ton-sur-ton (white on white) symbol and logo of the Maison etched on the box, you feel it with your fingertips rather that seeing it.
And that says much about this fragrance, it's pure refinement of the senses and not only the olfactory one!
The fragrance itself is nice and elegant. Nothing that will make you stumble of swoon; indeed, to my nose it is a very close relative to Cartier Baiser Volé (in edp).
A green floral, the very first notes scream Hermes, it's the common thread you find in the Jardins series, but soon it develops into white flowers, especially lily, but I can detect a hint of rose, green violet, hyacinth and a vanilla/white musk base.
There is some tomato leave (see Ninfeo mio by Annick Goutal) and galbanum, another green note.
Feminine but fresh, very spring like, very Baiser Volé (although this one is more powdery to my nose, it has more iris).
In a nutshell: easy to wear, good sillage, feminine and elegant; not unique in its gender but lovely to own and enjoy (especially for the packaging!).
Give it a try!

Jour d'Hermes is a creation by Jean Claude Ellena, the master perfumer of Hermes (and other fragrance houses). Jour was launched in late 2012 in Hermes boutiques and now, in spring 2013, it is slowly being rolled out at US department stores. I consider myself a longtime fan of Ellena's work with Frédéric Malle's L'Eau d'Hiver and Vanille Galante, the latter from the Hermessence line, being my favorites. To me, fragrances created by Ellena are all understated and luminous. On my skin, Jour is no exception.

Notes: The motto of this fragrance is *an abundance of flowers*.
I could not find any online note descriptions so I will do my best to describe what my laywoman nose detected:

Top notes: Citrus, especially grapefruit, rhubarb, maybe peach, mango?
Middle notes: White flowers - Magnolia, Osmanthus, tuberose, orange blossom, hint of rose and jasmine
Base: White Musk, oakmoss

I will update this review with the "official" notes once they have been published.

Overall: "Flowery" is usually not what I prefer in my fragrances but I am glad I gave this a try. I like the soft yet lush bright quality of Jour, its luminosity is uplifting to me. Similar to Vanille Galante, Jour takes unexpected delightful turns after I spray it on, and I like all phases of it, from the citrus beginnings, through the long white flower - with some soft honeyed fruit intermingling - phase to the quietly soft, close to the skin dry down stage. All the notes play extremely well together from beginning to end, which once again shows Elena's talent. He is capable of creating something harmonious yet multifaceted and complex! The various notes are blended so well, resulting in a fragrance which appears weightless without sharpness. Jour lasts rather well on my skin, about 6 hours. There is a vibrant and "green" element in Jour which I find perfect especially for spring. To me, Jour is stunningly beautiful and I cannot wait to try this in warm temperatures!
Packaging: Beautiful heavy white/clear glass flacon with sprayer, both sizes are refillable, please see stock picture I uploaded.
Jour is offered in 1.6 oz/50ml for $108 and 2.9 oz/85ml for $149 and a 4.2oz/125ml refill for $130. Furthermore Shower Gel 6.5 oz/200ml for $53, Perfumed Body Lotion 6.5 oz/200ml for $64 and Deodorant 5 oz/150ml for $53.

I got this not too long ago and I really love this scent. The first initial scent is light, fresh, floral and the long term scent is warm. I am not good on describing details of the scent and what to compare it to, but all I can say if you like a lighter scent, this is nice. I think the true test would be in the summer, to know how strong the scent is, but it is still cold here. I would buy this again.
