This was perhaps the most impulsive buy my makeup-loving mind has made yet. I've never owned Essence products before, but it was cheap, new, and I dug the concept; mix 2 colors for your perfect shade. So I added it to the other two concealers I was getting. Make no mistake, I have way too many concealers. I haven't tried every brand in the book, but I've tried several in a desperate attempt to find one that covers my acne and dark circles, doesn't wear away, and doesn't crease. Quite a tall order for any concealer, and I wasn't sure a $4 one was up to the challenge.
So I got home and began experimenting with the concealers I had collected. This was the last one I tested. I applied my foundation, then carely pat this on with my ring finger. It was creamy and easily blended right into my foundation with no issue. So I took a look. And stared and stared. Thos dark circles? What dark circles? Gone.
But I was not so easily fooled. I set it and smiled my biggest smile. Surely, it would crease or set on fire or be spoiled in some way. This couldn't be a perfect concealer.
Oh, but it is.
It covers, resists creasing, and lasts and lasts. I love finding cheap goodies, and just flip when I find a cheap goodie that is HG in every sense.
But word to the wise, while this concealer rocked my boat, it may not work for everyone. There is, as of now, only one shade. Those light to medium shouldn't have an issue, but those with darker skin tones could find this challenging. Hopefully, Essence will add more shades over time. As it's a very new product, I doubt they will stcik with just one shade.
However, though it is one shade, the mixing of two colors is genius! I can go from really light to medium with ease (Though, being fair, I don't think I'll ever need to venture beyond a light shade). Its the absolute perfect concealer for me, and at $4, it's the perfect concealer for my wallet too!
UPDATE: So it's been a couple of months and the concealer has started to dry out a little. It takes some extra effort warming it up to get the same results. Still pretty fabulous, but I have an inkling it will be useless in another few months...all dried up.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Essence, you really impressed me! After the horrible breakup with Maybelline's Fit Me concealer (I have done a review on that), I kinda gave up hope on drugstore concealers. For such a dirt cheap price, creamy, smooth consistency and decent coverage, BARGAIN!
As reference: I'm a NC20 with combo/oily/ blemish-prone and some dryness on my nose. I purchased my shade in #15 Fair
Why I bought this and my experience with it:
After reading all the positive review on this concealer, the next day I went to my local Priceline and bought the concealer. This is probably my 3 week using this product and I've already hit pan, only a little bit of product left in the pan. I love how the concealer is so creamy and blendable. The left pan on the duo cream concealer is a neutral tone light NC20 shade and on the right pan is pink tone NC10 shade. It says to blend the two shades together, but I prefer to use the two shades separately. I use the neutral tone shade to conceal my stubborn pimple and pimple scars and the peachy pink tone shade as a faced brightener to highlight the area under my eyes. However, this does not conceal my visible pores. Unlike the description the website gave me about this concealer being high coverage, I disagree, this have a nice light to medium, natural coverage. It fades within 2 hours without any setting powder or primer.
*Affordability (only AUD$4.25 RRP at my local Priceline)
*Creamy, emollient consistency, which is easy to blend
*Simple and portable packaging
*Disappear on skin with 2 hours with combo/oily skin
*Only comes in one shade
*Does not conceal pores
Ways to use it:
With the peachy pink tone shade I swatch it on the center of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, on my cheekbone, on the inner corner and the center of my eyes, on my brow bone and directly on my cupid bow, this trick is wonderful in bring light to the center of the face and giving an appearance of a youthful and fresh look, perfect for everyday. Since this concealer is quite creamy and emollient but leaves a semi-matte finish, it will slip and slide if you have oily skin and if you have dry patches, please use a good moisturizer or primer beforehand, as this will settle into dry patches and a loose/pressed powder of your choice afterwards to ensure the creamy consistency would move around.

Thank you for reading my review, hope you find this helpful :) Have a nice day!
Wow! I have used many concealers raved by people. Shu uemura, maybeline, skinfood, boots, za etc from high end to low end. This is probably the first concealer that actually lasted. Like from 4pm to 10pm, and I still looked fresh when I went home. No creasing too! No emphasis of wrinkles. Thumbs up for the price!
Wow this product really amazed me! I have tried several other concealers that are more expensive ( I usually use concealer for my dark circles), and I was always disappointed with them. This concealer is a miracle for me!
-You can combine 2 colors (I only use the darker one, which is still quite pale for my skin, but its the perfect shade for dark circles!)
-Good coverage, even if the consistency isn't thick
-Does not look like I put concealer (it is natural!)
-With the packaging (little "jars"), you won't waste any product (Not sure if its comprehensible xD )
-Nice creamy texture
-Only one choice of color : It wont work for darker skin tones. Even for me, I am not very dark, but the darker shade is still too light for my skin. That is why I only use it for dark circles)
-It does not stay all day for me...(Maybe because I do not apply a powder on top)
I still love this product :) I recommend it for lighter skinned girls or at the limit, medium tone for only dark circles.
I bought this hoping for a dupe of my MAC studio finish, but I did NOT expect to love it so much! It feels light on the skin, non drying, and with a dusting of powder it lasts pretty good as well! I found it wasn't as opaque as my MAC one, but I found it works well on the old self harm scars on my wrist, it covers them like a DREAM, So for work, and class it's great. And the whole make your own shade with mixing the colours is really awesome!
Great product, essentially has a product for blemishes and one for under eye circles.
I was moreso looking for the undereye component as I do have dark circles that aren't covered by most foundations and concealers.
This builds up nicely, doesn't crease and doesn't dry out my under eyes.
* versatile products
* creamy consistencu
* buildable coverage
* doesn't crease
* packaging is a little flimsy, it would get higher points from me if it came with a mirror
* only comes in one 'universal' shade, which will NOT work for anyone who is not pale/fair/light
* tends to smudge my lower lash mascara
Still a mint product I will continue buying unless something much better comes up
Very buildable and blendable concealer. I loved the concept from the very beginning; two shades of concealer to mix. I don't have a huge issue with dark circles,acne scars or discolorations,so I didn't demand a lot. When I applied it over my foundation,it felt really smooth and makes my undereye area look shiny and bright. I also use it on my nose and it makes it look thinner. It doesn't flake or show my expression lines. Love its price and packaging too.
For the price, this concealer can not be beat! I have been trying many concealers for years now and for some reason they all flake around my under eye area. I have only tried drug store, the quo duo, the physicians formula duo and a few others. This is the first one that are isn't too light! Most of the concealers i have tried looked dark in the tube then almost white on my under eye area. For me, I prever the minimum amount of highlighting. A maximum of 2 shaded lighter. Ever though the lighter shade in this duo would fit someone very fair it works well for a little highlighting and a base, then i use the darker shade to get a fuller coverage to cover my bags. It is a medium to full coverage. It also is great for covering any red areas or zits. Also in my dry areas it doesn't look flakey like most liquid concealers, yet its also light enough that it doesn't crease on my under eye area. By far the best concealer I have tried!
I bought this concealer because I have enjoyed other products from essence before. I like the idea of mixing the two colours together in order to get the perfect shade - this is especially good between summer and winter when your skin tone changes. One people is that this concealer only comes in one colour that would only work for people with light skin tones. The packaging of the concealer is a bit finicky as well.
The consistency of this concealer is very nice - creamy but not too thick or cakey. It doesn't crease and also has good staying power.
I am happy to say that it works great at covering my dark circles, as well as blemishes! This is a great new find
Decided to try this when I saw it in Shoppers - but only one shade! Even though it says you can mix the two colours to create your ideal shade, I'm darker than both colours. When I use it, it is very creamy and lightweight, and coverage is decent. It's ok at covering up dark circles, and I have to apply a darker powder on top because of how light it is. Would recommend if there were better colours available...
