I was initially very conflicted about this conditioner when I first purchased it. I liked the primitive feel of a bar conditioner and the clean smell (I hate obnoxiously fruity shower products of any kind) with only suggestion of coconut in it, but I when I tried it in-shower it was hard to adapt to. The catalogue said to just slide it down the length of your hair but other people talked about pulling bits off. I (awkwardly) tried what the catalogue suggested and wasn't sure if it'd worked at all. I didn't get that same instant, chemically-induced softness in my hair like I had from previous, bottled conditioners. However, when I got out, I was ecstatic. My hair was very soft, bouncy, shiny, and manageable (in combination with Lush's cinnamon bar shampoo!). My comb went through it like butter. What's even better is that that aforementioned clean smell stuck around! My hair smelled amazing all day! I love, love, love this product, and can't imagine going back to regular conditioners. The primitive feel, the smell, and the results do it all for me.
Did not work AT ALL as an in shower conditioner. In fact, I think it made my long, curly, thick hair worse. My hair became tangled, and incredibly difficult to brush after I used the product in the recommended fashion.
I absolutely LOVE the scent, so I was determined to make it work for me. Now I use it as a leave in conditioner, and simply rub it between my hands after the shower, and smooth it through my towel dried hair. I think it works great, and my hair smells fantastic.
I wouldn't recommend this method for someone with fine, or oily hair, but it may for work you, if like me, you have dry, unruly hair.

not a bad product,i run the bar through my hair as i find it easier then breaking off chunks .may repurchase but i think ill try out a different lush conditioner first.
pros: packaging - enviro friend
ingredients
is volumizing
cons: probably not economically friendly on those with super long hair, its not extremely conditioning so i feel i have to use more of the product.
Man, I was so disappointed with this. Love the Big shampoo, so I've been jonesing to try the counterpart solid conditioner. It just is not what it is marketed to be. The SA told me to break off a small piece and sort of melt in my palm with a bit of water and then apply to my hair. Okay, tried that and there was no conditioning quality to the product whatsoever, it felt like i put nothing in my hair. Then I tried just rubbing it onto my hair and that didn't work either. Literally used half of an $8.00 piece and my hair was a tangled, mangled mess. I had to add another conditioner to even be able to get a brush through my hair. It does smell amazing, but I feel duped by LUSH because this is worthless as a hair conditioner. If you are looking for a functional product, I suggest passing this one by...

I love this. I like the smell and I tried melting it in my palm but it didn't work out. So now I just run the bar over my hair. I have super long hair so I use quite a bit. Anyways it conditioned nicely and made my hair feel soft.

I haven't tried Jungle, Lush's other solid conditioner, but I really love Big. The smell reminds me of baby powder with a bit of lemon, and the texture is most similar to a stick of butter that doesn't melt into an oily mess but a malleable cream or very soft clay. Reviews of Jungle say that it doesn't break down easily and leaves chunks in your hair; Big is so soft it won't do that at all and washes out completely.
When I bought my bar I broke it in half with my fingers and stored half in a pot to keep in the shower and the other half, still wrapped in the paper packaging, in my medicine cabinet. If you leave it out naked in the tub or shower, it will definitely melt and be wasted. Then I break of a piece about the size of a grape and break it down in my palms to a cream and apply as any other conditioner. OR before I shower, I take a larger amount of it, apply it to my dry hair, and leave it for around 15 minutes as a hair treatment. My hair had never been softer!
In the shower it leaves my hair detangled and feeling naturally soft, unlike silicone softness I get from regular conditioners. Once dry, my hair feels both soft and voluminous. I wouldn't recommend this for people with dry hair as a daily moisturizer but as a treatment like I explained before.
Overall I'm very satisfied with it and I haven't even started on the second half of the bar yet!

LUSH description:
"FOR BIG VOLUME AND TONS OF SHINE
Big conditioner livens up dull, limp and fine hair with a jolt of volume and shine. It carries with it the beautiful fragrance of the vanilla, jasmine and tonka absolute to perfume hair while the sea salt goes to work building body. Extra virgin coconut oil and toothed wracked seaweed infusion soften and condition hair without weighing it down, while a squeeze of lemon juice and fresh lime add even more shine."
SMELL, COLOUR AND TEXTURE:
I don't like the scent at all but I seem to be the only one, as everyone I have asked says they love it. The bar has an egg shell colour, and the texture is like a solid jelly if that makes sense. It doesn't fall apart in your hands, it's not jiggly and won't change shape, but you can crush/mash it with your hands. When it gets wet you can mash it together in your hands to make a cream out of it.
PACKAGING:
None :) You receive this wrapped in paper. DON'T leave the bar in the shower, it will become mushy/creamy and melt away. After use, let it dry and then put it in a soap dish or pot.
INGREDIENTS:
Coconut oil - moisturising
Sea salt - drying, stripping hair colour
Lemon juice - bleaching (stripping hair colour)
Seaweed - claimed to help hair growth
Jojoba oil - claimed to help hair growth, moisturising
HOW TO USE:
I wouldn't recommend rubbing this against your hair like you would rub a shampoo bar, the hair is fragile when wet. Also, it's hard to get enough on your hands by rubbing it between your palms - so I break off a little piece, mash it in my hands and add a little water to make it creamy, then put in my hair. You can also use this on a grater, put it in a pot and pour water on top and wait, and it will be like a cream (see the most helpful review on Junge Solid Conditioner, it has a description on how to do it).
I was a little put off when I rinsed it out and couldn't feel any trace of conditioner at all, like I didn't put anything in. When my hair dried it wasn't the same, it was a little drier and therefore fluffier, bigger. So yes, this conditioner makes your hair bigger and fluffier - by drying it out a little. I would never recommend this to someone with dry hair, but it definitely does what it should for limp hair. It's just up to you if you think it gives you volume or just frizz.
I don't know if I'm going to use this again - I like the volume, but I don't like the feel of being a little dried out.

I actually wasn't crazy about this as a conditioner. It's one of the solid bars, so you can't expect it to have any slip or detangling properties. It does add a bit of moisture, and my fine hair is not weighed down afterwards. I love that it has no packaging, though. I'm currently obsessed with trying to reduce my contribution to the global trash heap, and package-free is better than recycling! So why 5 lippies? It excels as a body moisturizer. Before I towel off, I smear this all over, and my skin is smooth as a baby's. It smells like heaven, too! It's a soft vanilla, coconut, and jasmine melange, and it's just indescribably beautiful. I still use it as a conditioner, but I do need to use some type of detangler after, or I need to be extremely patient and careful while combing my hair out. I'm super happy that I can use something that smells so good for two purposes.
