This brush is great for smudging eyeliner. Even though I want to buy the push brush eventually, this brush is also great for applying powder eye shadow to my top and bottom lash line. I also use it to apply eye shadow on my outer V

When does one start to develop the weird habit of picking out more and more specialized brushes? I'm not sure, but when I saw this and read about it, it went on my list. You know, my list where I prioritize my makeup acquisitions and tools. This went pretty high up.
Funny shape, this one. It is flat and the bristles form a flat arc. Not sure what animal it is from, but it is some bushy animal. This definitely is not one of the more soft brushes I own (like the Suqqu ones), but the combination of its density and arc shape makes it a wonderful tool.
I've been primarily using it to smudge (heh! how novel! smudge with a smudge brush!) eyeliner or shadow in both the upper and lower lash line. Others have noted it picks up a lot of product (if you dip it into eyeshadow) and I think this as well. I try to tap a bit off so I don't load up too much. A couple of strokes back and forth and the effect is nicely smoky and smudged.
Can I live without this brush? Probably. So before I had this, I've used cottons swabs (the cosmetic kind with the pointier tip) and other brushes, but really how well it performs its function really makes it a neat little brush. This is my first Nars brush. I'm very happy with this purchase. Very highly recommend it!

Really love this for putting on powder eyeshadow as eyeliner. It is better than the Paula Dorf one that i use to own. I love the texture and lenght of the bristles - fabulous and wish I had bought it sooner

This brush is heavenly! I've been using it nonstop since getting it from beauty.com
I wanted a smudge brush that was soft enough to use around the lashline and lower lash line. Let me tell you that this brush definitely is soft and gentle enough for your sensitive eyes. I have Laura Mercier's smudge brush as well, but i think the brushes are different enough to own both. LM's is smaller while this is wider and a bit more flufflier. LM's is somewhat scratchy at first use but i feel that it softens throughout time. Nars smudge brush is great because it picks up so much product w/ just a tap and applies them smoothly on your lids. it's heavenly for smoking and blending out as well. the brush is very dense and thick while being soft, the perfect combinations.
This brush has replaced my mac 219, which I find too pokey for my sensitive eyes.
and at $26, i wouldn't even consider brush to be expensive. some mac brushes cost even more than that.

This is my favorite smudge brush and my favorite Nars brush. Its bristles are much shorter and dense than other smudge brushes out there, great for smudging liner and places eyeshadow right where you want it without fallout.
It isn't expensive at all when you realize how often and how many years you will use it. Great brush.

I use this for smokey eyes and think it's only ok. Perhaps I'm not using it right, but I just don't love it. Too imprecise.

For about 4 months now I've been using this brush to smudge out my liner or to apply e/s as liner. I really like it b/c it's soft and makes it easy for me to have a softer, blended smoky look. I'm not a MUA by any means, but this brush makes me feel like I am b/c of the ease of application when I use it. It's definitely a keeper.

This is my first NARS brush, I use it for smudging eyeshadow and eye liner on my lower lashline. It's dense and soft, good for packing on eyeshadows on my small asian eyes. I got it for $26.50 on NARS website.

I use this brush to applicate eye shadows, I used to use Mac's 239 brush, but didn't do the job, it blendes, but this brush doesn't blend so you can get a very intense color, the bristle has a very good quality.

I love my smudge brush, the bristles are very soft yet short and dense. It only deposits color where I need it to go and I rarely see fall out from it. It is a bit expensive but I love my NARS bushes, and they're worth every penny.

I got this brush from an Chinese supplier on eBay for a fraction of the price. Unexpectedly, it is in fact authentic (or an incredibly good fake at that), a lovely SA at my local counter confirmed this. Furthermore, I don't see any flaws or faults with it. So I'm more than stoked, as you can imagine.
The brush is wonderful. The design is minimalistic and simple. The handle is wooden, I believe, and coated in black colour. The bristles are stiff and only bend ever-so-slightly at the top. Furthermore, they are densely packed and pick up a fair amount of eyeshadow or pot liner.
This is a great tool if you want to smudge your eyeliner to get that sultry, smoldering look in a smokey eye. But I prefer using it with dark, pigmented eye shadows along the lash line (upper and lower) to frame them.
All in all, it is darn expensive, and if I haven't discovered it by chance for a lower price, I might have waited with the buy. But, if I would lose it and I wouldn't have somebody to source it from cheaply, I would definitely buy it again at full price (£36... yikes).

I love my Smudge Brush ! I have had it now for 2 years. I use it every day. I use it to fill in my eyebrows. I use it for eyeshadow and eye lining .. It is the Must Have in any Girls Makeup Case. 5 Stars all Around- No complaints.

My favorite beauty tool for the eyes. Excellent smudge brush and eyeliner. I can get a precise line by angling the brush a certain way carefully. I prefer applying a winged eyeline and this is fabulous for that, makes a nice thin to thick line and I can let up the pressure when I get to the winged part.

I love this, HQ brush! Great for eyeliner-like eyeshadow, and great for matte shades too!

i bought this before other brands came out with similar shaped brushes. at the time, i had not seen this shape anywhere else. i personally love this brush for smudging eyeshadow on my lower lashline. It is soft, tightly packed, and holds powder really well with little to no fallout. I have not seen shedding, and the brush itself still looks brand new. i believe this brush or a pencil brush is a must for creating a smokey eye

NARS Smudge Brush is thus far .. the best thing I've found for smoking out my lower lashline. I've not tried using it to smudge actual eyeliner, but what I do use this for is to deposit a darker shadow on my lower lashline to give it that sultry, 'smokey' look .. and for that it's awesome! I don't have any major complaints about this brush. It's stiff enough to do what I need it to do and deposits color fairly well. My only complaint would be that perhaps it needs to be a little stiffer to allow for a bit more precision in application of shadows on the lower lashline.

I don't like this brush... The bristles are scratchy , it doesn't blend or smudge at all . The head is too large and it makes thick lines on my eyes , not really pretty.
I'd rather use a q tip .
Don't buy it , I think MAC brushes are much better quality.

It dosen't blend or smudge very well, the quality of the brush is inferior to MAC. After a couple of months of very light use, the brush began to peel ...not cool, after trying to salvage the brush I decided to throw it out., definately not buying this again.

The pony hair is painfully scratchy. The bristles are short and they have no give and really poke into the skin. Then the brush head is so thick that I can only make a really thick line. I can't get precise application for the winged liner look everyone else is talking about. I prefer smudging with a q-tip, a small firm eyeshadow brush or even a clean pinky finger. Anything else beats this brush really.
