This was my first glossy stain. I bought this as part of a bigger makeup set from YSL. I normally shy away from corals and peaches opting for pinks and mauves. This foray into an orangey coral tone was flattering on my fairish neutral undertoned skin.

What I like about this gloss/stain is its staying power and non-sticky feel. Most glosses in my experience are like flytraps for my hair on a windy day. Walk out the door, attempt to extract hair from lips without dragging across face or else face a trail of lipgloss across the cheek. This gloss is also pretty tenacious without feeling overtly clingy or chemically. It applies glossy and it fades through normal wear down (i.e.: drinking, eating, time, etc.) A hint of the color remains after the glossiness dissipates without leaving a strong presence. I also like this gloss a lot because it feels emollient and not dehydrating like others which seem to make the lips look wet but then extract all moisture in their wake.

I also have Glossy Stains in shades: 9, 15, & 17. 9 scares me a little, it's a very bright red. 15 & 17 are my goto colors because they're easy to wear and always flattering in a pretty soft way.

I really did not like this. My lips do not have much color in them. This did not add very much color, which is ok since I like non bold lips, but the feeling of this on my lips is horrible. I just feel heavy product on my lips like I bought a super cheap lipstick. Now I prefer Guerlains kiss kiss lipstick, light weight and lasting and so pretty on the lips, this is the opposite of that.

I wish there was the option of saying - would you rebuy - I don't know.

The price point is a kicker. Its AUD$57 and as much as I love the product, I cannot justify spending that sort of ridiculous money on a little lipgloss again.

The finish is beautiful. This is my spring lip look. Its what it says, its a glossy stain. Its not as gloopy or thick or short lasting as a gloss but its shiny. It colours the lip like a stain and leaves colour that lasts reasonably well. I'm not one of those women who can make lip colours last all day, I have to reapply, but this lasts longer than most.

The colour. Its so pretty, its a pinky coral, its feminine, its understated and a nice colour for daytime, its understated. I like it but I don't get complimented on it.

Its the finish that I love. A lipstick sits on top of your lips. I like lipsticks. But this stains the lips to a nice pinky coral and then makes them very glossy, but the product is part of your lips, its a thin texture rather than a covering texture.

It does have an alcoholic feel when you apply. I put it on, and leave my lips open and let it dry. I do a second coat for a better coverage and it leaves my lips feeling nice and soft.

So I like the product. I'm not in love with the price - AUD$57 - what was I thinking?

7 corail aquatique is a beautiful warm pink that's suitable for everyday wear. i believe it will complement both yellow-toned and pink-toned skin. my skin is yellow-toned and it looks really natural on my lips. i like this one lots but i have other lip colors i like more so i probably won't repurchasing this one.

I actually have 2 of these glossy stains and I really like them!
They are not going to last long because of the amount of product you pull out of the tube with each use. (One I've had 3 weeks is half gone). They give beautiful results and stay on like no other I've tried. One coat is pretty enough (I add Lancôme gloss over it) and two coats gives a much glossier and opaque look (no gloss necessary over 2 coats).
I will definitely buy again and just think of this product as a 'happy splurge'!

At last, I own something from YSL that I can afford!
I tend to favour sheer or creamy lipsticks or lip glosses as my lips can no longer wear full lipsticks without the colour fading into the lines. That obviously rules out matte lipsticks but we all know the problem with sheer or very creamy lipsticks is that they don't last all that long.

This is where the YSL rouge pur couture glossy stain comes in. (what a long product name for such a small container of lip stain!
I got the the #7 corail aquatique as it's a very neutral and every day colour. I'd describe the colour as a pale coral pink.

The texture may take some getting used to as it's feels creamier than a lip gloss but once it sets, it has a slight sticky texture on the lips.

The staying power is okay. It may last after a meal but just barely, at least for this colour. The richer colours will leave more of a stain of course.
It has that YSL lipstick scent which is tolerable but if you're sensitive to fragrance, you may not care for this.

The packaging is stunning of course but the price point is steep in comparison the amount of product.
I'd buy it again if I ever ran out of my lip stash as I'd use this lip colour regularly.
