The cake liner was launched as part of the "Choose your black" collection in December 2012. So far, it is a limited edition item. I purchased this together with the Smokey Eye Brush which was released at the same time.
Packaging: Round black fliptop container with a little mirror in the lid. Sturdy, sleek and practical.
Formula, color and texture: Very fine true black, matte powder.
Wear: Superior in application as well as staying power over using regular matte shadow. Very little fallout and transfer during the day on my rather oily lids. Applied dry with the BB Smokey Brush, this creates a soft smudged look. Subtle and perfect for day. Easy to amp up for evenings.
Overall: Excellent product, hope they will come out with a navy shade and add these kohl cake liners to the regular line. Definite repurchase as this has already become a staple. I have used this almost daily for 8 weeks and I have not made a dent in the surface of the cake liner yet.

If you are looking for a softer true black eyeliner, this may work well for you. Use it dry and it blends out into a very nice soft but true black liner. It's very nice for eyebrows also and the holding power is amazing for powder liner used dry. The smudging is minimal....I used it and went to bed without removing it during my bout with the flu. The next morning I was amazed at how it was still on, just softly smudged....looked good.
