I have very dry skin. 3 drops in the morning after my vitamin C serum and 3 drops at night after Strivectin-AR followed by Bobbi Brown balm in the eye area. This product is wonderful. Love the smell and the way my skin feels. It doesn't make my makeup slip and slide and I never look greasy. Will repurchase!
I wanted to wait to finish my first bottle before I reviewed this product. I have dry skin year round, but the winter here is especially bad on my skin. The Sephora SA recommended I try a face oil, then specifically recommended seaberry by fresh. I am a total follower, so I bought it!
Like others have mentioned, it does have a strong smell. Its not bad, and its very fleeting. At night, I use 3 drops directly on my face after washing, but before cream. In the AM, I mix 2 drops with my moisturizer. I find the mixing helps my makeup stay put better than when I apply the oil directly.
I know the price tag can be scary, but the product lasts a very long time! And I feel like its done more for my skin than even super high price moisturizers.
The dropper is wonderful too. It holds the product and doesn't spill or leak, so when you want 3 drops, that's all you get. I don't like waste. I have about 8 more uses in my first bottle, and my second bottle is being delivered today! Love this stuff.
Love this stuff! I have had very sensitive, dry skin these past winter months and only compounded the problem with OTC treatments for irritation flare ups(I was using Axzone). Anyway, I was at Sephora speaking with one of the SA's who happens to be an esthetician and she suggested the fresh soy cleanser. As I didn't want to purchase a full size I figured I try a gift set that included the Seaberry oil. That night after I washed by face it became very red and hot yet again go I grabbed the oil on a whim and slathered about 6 drops on my face figuring I would deal with any breakout the next day. Surprisingly there was none, nor the next day, or the next day! Regardless to say I am very pleased with this face oil. Brings any irritation or redness down immediately(even my clueless boyfriend noticed the first evening) and has a very light texture. I find 3 or 4 drops be be plenty even though the instructs say 1 or 2(will probably use that in the summer months). I haven't ventured into adding any additional product on top of the oil.
It should be noted that I also started using the FAB antioxidant cleanser the next day as the oil. I believe both in conjunction had def helped get my slightly dry, sensitive, some what acne prone skin under control.
Good job Fresh!
This is one of the few times I have been recommended a product by Sephora and instantly fallen in love with it. My skin is oily with dehydrated, flaky patches and I do have a bit of acne and that has helped with all of those things! My skin isn't as oily, I no longer have dry patches after a good 7 year battle of trying to deal with them and my acne is inexistent. Something I never thought I'd be able to say but I haven't had a breakout using this product in more than 3 months thanks to the seabuckthorn oil that aids in healing! Some people may be put off by the smell because it smells exactly like butter chicken but I personally love it- so much better than anything with heavy, synthetic fragrance. I use this in both my morning and night time skincare routine after I tone my face and before I use moisturizer. This is an awesome product and I think it would benefit anyone!!
I love this more than Josie Maran's Argan Oil, and that is saying something!
First off, yes it smells like maple syrup, but it isn't AWFUL. It's not the best, but the smell fades quickly so it really isn't an issue. Plus, I prefer this more "natural" smell to the smell of chemicals any day.
I love the consistency of this oil. It is thicker than Argan oil, but it sinks in quicker. I only use about three to four drops and I find that to be enough to adequately cover my face and neck. Afterwards, it leaves my skin so soft and smooth, without being greasy which is surprising but really nice.
Since I have combination skin while a fairly oily T-Zone, I only use this at night under moisturizer since I think during the day, it wouldn't work so well with my skin type and makeup. But I'm sure if you had dry skin, this would work great during the day as well. Another bonus, is that this has not caused me to break out! My skin had been acting up terribly about two months ago, and with an entirely new skin care routine (that included this oil) my skin is almost back to normal!
Yes, it's expensive, but it's one of the best oils I have tried so far, and since I don't have to use very much, this should last me quite a while. I definitely would recommend and repurchase.
As goofy as it may sound, I am sold on this product after using it for only 3 days. I have insanely dry, sensitive skin. I spent my youth (foolishly) baking in the sun without sunscreen. I am also in my mid-forties, and am seeing some of the changes that come along with that. I use oils to moisturize, and I am constantly looking for reviews touting effective products. My skin is so dry, in fact, that most high-powered (and high-dollar) super moisturizers do not have the effect they would on most people. AND, when I am in the tropics, I still use a light oil for a moisturizer. Before finding this oil I used others, but still found that even after having followed all of the steps for flawless makeup, my foundation looked dry and cakey. I am using high-end, $50+ liquid foundations for dry skin that people rave about, and was still looking dried up. Not any longer!! I use this a few minutes before using my primer to give it time to really soak in. I do not use it sparingly, despite the price, due to how dry my home climate and skin are. I am hoping that over time my skin will require less, but even if it continues to soak it up, I will continue to buy it, it is that good! After beginning this oil, I am applying my primer and foundation and I look like I am supposed to! My foundation sits where I put it and doesn't dry up and look caked in clumps (think the dryness of an Accutane user!) I can use an HD powder as my final step and it refines my look, rather than making things look worse. As for the smell, I can see why people don't like it, but it does not bother me at all. There are a few reasons, I believe. Firstly, Fresh Brand products smell like they should--like the natural ingredients they are made with. I'd rather smell something natural than a chemical. Secondly, I associate the smell with my dewy, soft, moisturized skin that I am loving. Thirdly, the smell fades quite quickly. I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell, and within just a few minutes the smell is gone. While it may seem as if I am overstating my dry skin, I am not, and I am banking on this product to bring me back into the normal skin zone. Keep those sea berries coming!
I received this as a sample in a Sephora gift bag. It surprisingly absorbs really fast and leaves my skin feeling super moisturized yet not greasy at all. I'm impressed. However, like others have said, the smell is awful.... It smells like curry or sausages or something. If you're hungry you may not want to use this product haha :)
So I haven't bought this. This is a first impressions review from a deluxe sample set I got from sephora from redeeming my points. The smell is awful (reminds me of sausage in maple syrup or prunes) when I applied it with the dropper a little goes a loooong way. Left my skin feeling ridiculously soft and even though the texture is a little thick it applies softly and fast into the skin. I definitely will buy the large size. (P.s I have combination/oily skin)
A couple of tips on this oil - you can combat oil with oil! Even if you have oily skin, you can use this.
The best way to apply it is to pat it into your skin, not rub or smooth it in.
It's made my now-oily skin calm, and I even use it under makeup. This is the second time I've tried this, the first time I rubbed it in and I found it was too heavy. Patting a small amount on to the skin is the way to go!
This was a bust for me...it was really not meant for my very oily skin. The worst part, though, was the smell! Bleck! It Ella like maple syrup soaked sausages. No thanks. I think it is overpriced, but would probably work on someone with very dry skin.
