Ok so this bb cream caught my attention while watching one of Michelle Phans makeup tutorials. I had been on the hunt for a bb for a while now and was having trouble deciding which direction to go. Do I choose Western or Asian bb creams....
After looking up the aqua petit jelly cream, and many other product reviews, holika holika won me over.
My skin tone is fair with pink undertones. I have oily skin with slightly enlarged pores, no acne or scars. I do have dark under eye circles but apart from that my skin tone is pretty even. I purcahsed this product in shade 2 and it is a pretty spot on match. My skin tone is around a MAC NC20.
This product comes in a super cute glass jelly tub which has a spatula to help you apply the product. It has a fruity smell to it, however this tends to wear off once you have applied it. The texture is exactly what the product states, jelly. It feels strange at first but it does warm up an melt into your skin once you start to work it. I find with this product you need to work relatively fast when applying as it tends to set quite fast. I applied this first time with my fingers and found it hard to blend and was not happy with the finish. I switched to a flat top stippling brush and this works amazing!!! It blends the product out really well and gives me a natural, even finish. The finish is matte and the coverage I would say is light to medium. I still need to use a concealer for my panda eyes. I find this bb stays on really well, it doesn’t oxidise or go blotchy. However when the weather heats up or I increase my physical activity I tend to get a bit of a shine going on but it easily fixed with my life saving blotting tissues :)
The pro's I found when using this bb was a nice matte finish without the cakey look. It does not irritate my skin or break me out. Overall it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth with a healthy, even complexion. Really like this product and would recommend to those of you who have oily skin and are looking for a product that feels weightless on the skin, give this a try...

First off I have dry skin and most foundations will accentuate the dry flaky patches that I have. So I was on the hunt for a foundation that would be moisturizing throughout the day but still does a decent job with coverage. And ta-da I found this bb cream when watching one of Michelle Phan's favorite products video.
Yes, I have heard of BB cream before and have tried a few in the past, but I hate how there are never color options, just one lousy pale color. Some even give me a weird grayish cast.
When comparing tinted moisturizers to bb cream they are not as beneficial since they do not contain skincare ingredients like bb cream does.
Pro:
-There are two color options (yes they are both still light colors, but at least there is an option for those who are not as pale).
-Cute packaging (I like how the jar is in a shape of a jelly)
-The texture is fun (gel/ jelly-like that turns liquidity when blend).
-The smell is nice (it might not be everyone's cup of tea since it's quite strong, but I don't mind it at all).
-Decent light coverage that might be buildable to a medium coverage.
-Moisturizing (so there are no flaky patches for me, but I heard that on some people it have an opposite affect. It would actually accentuate the dry patches, but I never had this problem).
-Have SPF 20 (good and bad since it would probably leave a white cast when taking pictures with flashes. But I think the pro outweighs the con on this one since it protects you from damaging UV rays).
Con:
-The built-in spatula is kinda weird to use (but this may be a pro for some since it more hygienic not to stick your fingers in the jar. However I think it's probably going to be useless later to scoop the bb cream out from the bottom since it doesn't reach that far).
-Color options are still only limited to pale and paler. (LOL I'm one of the luck ones that are categorized as the pale skin tone. However, I do get darker in the summer, by then I can't use this bb cream till winter time.)
-Will look cakey if you're not careful applying it and accidentally packing on too much (I like using a beauty blender sponge to apply this so that I don't have excessive amount on).
-Packaging is not ideal for traveling since the jar is made out of glass-like materials that would probably break if packed wrong. It's bulky so it takes quite a bit of space as well.
The bb cream comes with a sponge as well, but I never use it to apply the product, just my fingers or my beauty blender does the trick.
It has a nice matte finish, but it can get oily looking later on in the day especially if you are out in the heat.
Overall I would re-purchase this.

So I'm about a MAC NC30 and I have this product in shade 02, which is the darker shade. It's a little light on my skin, but nothing a bit of a darker powder can't fix. I have acne-prone, oily skin with acne scarring and occasional breakouts. This doesn't cover any of those imperfections but it does do a great job of creating an even skin tone, masking minor redness and creating a smooth matte (but not overly matte) finish. I would say that it's a light-medium coverage.
When I top off with my powder and UD All Nighter spray this BB cream lasts all day, I don't have any issues with its longevity. Be careful, a little goes a long way with this, and one little dab with the spatula is enough for me most days. It WILL look cakey if you use too much. I like using this with my Real Techniques brushes (buffing brush or expert face brush both work well) and I don't suggest using the sponge it comes with, the water based bb cream just absorbs way too much.
I wore this to the gym once and while it did rub off, it didn't separate or look disgusting on my face, so this would be good for humid climates/summertime.
The interesting think about this BB cream is it doesn't gunk up my brushes at all, even after many uses with the same brush, the brush still feels fluffy and soft.
The scent is a floral-fruity soapy scent, quite pleasant, not cloying to my nose and doesn't linger.
Overall, it's a nice, lightweight BB cream appropriate for oily-combo skin types and women no darker than NC30.

Love this BB cream!!! I have combination acne prone skin leaning more towards dry during winter. First off I'll say that I can't really use this bb cream in the winter unless use a lot of moisturizer (I use skin79 orange vital bb cream). For summer and hot weather this works like a dream. I really enjoy the cooling effect and how light it feels. It is different from a lot of bb creams that I've used, it has a gel like texture and you have to work on your face in small sections because it dries really fast. I don't mind this much because it does blend really nicely and gives a great air brushed look. The wear time without a primer and powder (if your skin is oily) is about 5hrs but with a primer and powder it lasts me 8-10hrs.
My only qualm is the packaging it's a glass container and has a little spatula to get the product out of the container, which is a little unhygienic but as long as you use hand sanitizer you shouldn't have any problems or breakouts :)

UPDATE : Mon, March 11, 2013:
I keep bouncing from BB to BB it seems thanks to my finicky flaky dry winter skin, which has been especially dry this year. I think I finally found a way of combating it. I have been using Queen Heleen's Coco Butter Scrub and Eucerin's Urea Face Cream for Dry Skin on a daily basis and I can now happily use any BB cream I want! That means I have happy returned to this BB! I have found other favorites during my departure such as Skinfood's Red Bean in shade 1 (lovely texture, shade, yummy almost foodie/floral smell and all around great product in a travel friendly tube), Missha's Signature Real (I have been using this as a makeup base, I have yet to work out the kinks for this BB but I know it has potential) and Skin79's Hot Pink mixed with a little of Skin79's Crystal Pearl BB to thin it out and lighten up the tone. Despite finding other favorites, Holika Holika's Aqua Petite remains my favorite and I am glad I am now able to use it again. The shade is dead on for my skin tone, it smells great (awesome clean air scent that dissipates entirely once blended), it covers what I want it too and feels great on my skin, both in terms of how it feels to wear (no tightness nor heaviness at all) and how it feels to touch (soft and natural, non-productly. If the boyfriend does not detect it and no residue is left on my cell, I am a happy camper). I was unable to use this bb as my skin was too dry and it refused to spread or sink into my skin. Now that I have found a proper way to care for my icky chapped skin, this stuff once again spreads and blends like a dream.
UPDATE : Tues, Feb 12, 2013:
I have forgone using this as a winter BB for the time being as my skin has grown dryer and I find this BB requires too much prep in order for it to work. I look forward to using it in Spring and Summer though, as I do love everything else about it. I would say this BB is pretty close to perfect, I just wish it was easier to spred and work with!
I have been toying with other BBs for winter use and have settled on Skin79 Hot Pink mixed with the same companies Crystal Pearl BB. I find this provides me with a thinner texture I love (something I miss about Holika Holika's offering) but the coverage and moisturization I need without much effort.
Oh how I do miss you Aqua Petit.
---------------------
I have been using this for the past week or so, so this is admittedly more of a first impressions review.
This product is very different from the other BBbs I have tried, just read the ingredients – intriguing stuff. I had read and watched various reviews on this product prior to using it and I am glad. Despite the high water content, exfoliated and well moisturized skin is a must. This cream does not spread as nicely as oil based BBs which have more of a slippy texture to them and take longer to dry. Upon my very first application I was quite impressed as the product itself is light and refreshing. My skin feels comfortable and not at all producty. I feel my skin can breath while wearing this. Also unlike other BBs this looks like skin from the get-go! I do not need to wait for things to oxidize before leaving the house. There is no odd grey cast, no orangey hue, nada! The lighter of the two shades fits my PPP skin the best of all the BBs I have tried (Missha Perfect Cover 21, Missha Signature Real 13, Skin79 Gold, Lioele Beyond the Solution, Skin79 Lovely Girl). I would say the coverage is very light, with a bit of blending work more can be applied to problem areas. The results on my skin are not like any I have encountered from another product before. This does not look like a foundation on my skin, it is more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but does not look like any of my other BBs either. I think it is apparent that product is on my skin when I look in a mirror, but not obnoxiously so. I find my skin looks healthier and better as the day goes on and the product mixes with my natural oils. That said, I have combination skin tending more towards dry, but a slightly oilier t-zone in summers. I like the shine this gives once it settles into my skin, it is a healthy and very subtle glowly look. I find I need powder with this BB, not something I have encountered with a BB before. I would say this product is a satin finish bordering towards matte. I look hydrated. As for smell – it is decent. Unlike other BBs the smell is quite feint and one that I dont mind.
If you have relatively decent skin this will help minimize redness, blotchiness, even out skin tone and minimize pores while giving light coverage.
Bare in mind that I am reviewing this new product during a cold windy Toronto winter so my skin is in a less than ideal state. I have dry patches, redness from windburn and small breakouts on my chin from my scarf causing friction on my skin. Given all this, the coverage I get from this product is actually pretty impressive given the canvas I have to work with. I think I will be jumping between this product and my Skin79 Gold for the rest of winter, opting for this product when my skin is in better states. I may have only tried a handful of BBs and I may have only been using this product for about a week, but already it is in my top three and I dont see it budging. I think this rivals my first love, Missha Perfect Cover. I feel like such a cheater!
