This is.a good product but be sure to follow the instructions. It is for the roots only and you need to spend a minute massaging it into the roots. Additionally, if you use this product daily or whenever you shampoo, you will go through it quickly. It gives good volume and lift and does seem to make me hair look and feel healthier and younger! I presume the stiffness other readers write about is due to not massaging it into the roots all over the head or placing the product throughout the hair.
This product is simply wonderful. I have long, straight highlighted hair and this stuff adds volume without stickiness or build up. It left my hair feeling lustrous, thicker and shiny, like it was in my 20's!
I gave up other products when starting with this treatment. I put the thickening treatment on at night and shampoo/condition in the morning. Noticed a difference from the first application. I wonder if others have not been massaging into scalp only .... Or maybe it works better on long, straight hair. I would be devastated if this was discontinued!!
Not sure if its the treatment shampoo or conditioner or all three. I read all the great reviews and went out and bought the trial pack. Week one my hair looked ok nothing great. I am on my second week and i dont ever remember having such dull lifeless hair in my life. Gotta keep searching for my HG shampoo and conditioner. This is definately not one of them
I'm on my 2nd bottle and love this product, even my hairdresser commented that my hair felt thicker (she didn't even know I was using this). I use it every day and really am pleased how my hair is more manageable without the gunky feeling of some styling products. I have short hair that I get foil highlights in on a regular basis, and the Pantene has not made my hair feel dry or damaged.
It is expensive, and that's a negative, but I guess our pocketbooks have to suffer if we want to look and feel nice!
Wow! As I was scoping the aisle for my shampoo/conditioner I came across this product.I wasn't looking for this type of hair treatment but I thought I would try this too see if it actually works, plus no loss,I could always return this if it didn't work out =) To my amazement, this is a truly great product.I have always disliked Pantene products for my hair. They never seemed to worked out.Extremely pleased with this treatment & wouldn't definitely buy this once I run out!
This is an update on my previous review. I have now been using this product for about a month and it does really add volume and bounce to fine hair. It also dries it... my hair has lost shine and it never seems to need washing...
In my case, I will continue to use it, at least until I finish the new bottle I bought, since I'd rather have a good looking shape. I have now stopped using "small talk" and reverted to ordinary conditioner to try to add some moisture.
I still believe that if you use it as directed (5 or 15 full pumps, it is not clear) you'd run out of the product pretty quickly. I apply minute amounts next to the scalp and massage immediately (it dries very fast, so if you do your full head and massage afterwards the first applications will not spread so well). It is not easy to cover you whole scalp but since you will never apply in exactly the same spot I suppose you compensate with different applications.
If they every quit making this I will cry. It adds thickness and body, without adding that product gunky feel. My hair is just soft, and thick with volume.
When my hair is still damp from my shower, I spray it all along my roots all around my head.
You can't seem to use too much.
As I age (almost 40- gasp!), I have definitely noticed my hair is getting a bit thinner. Which I hate, because I have always had a ton of hair. It's fine in texture, but I've always had so much that I never worried about it. But, I can tell this year that perhaps I am starting to lose some and it was killing me!
I read about this in some magazine.. can't remember which. But the magazine reviewed it and said it worked, so I thought I would give it a try.
There are two things I don't love- the first ingredient is alcohol, so I am worried it is going to dry my hair out. But honestly, if it does- I will deal with it but conditioning more, or using masks or whatever. Second, the price. This stuff is expensive. But, it does work, and I will continue to use it.
Also, I first bought it as part of the Age Defy three pack, that included the shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner are terrible- I actually threw them away after the first time I used them! So, don't waste your time on that starter three pack would be my opinion.
I LOVE this project. I have really long, thin, fine, highlighted hair. Let me just say, I've been using this for two weeks, and the first day I used it my boyfriend even noticed a difference in my hair. I used it in the morning before work and when I came home and was making dinner he asked if I had gone to get my hair done during the day. I was in shock. The results lasted all day and just continued to get better over the last two weeks.
How I use this product: I start with towel dried hair, apply aragan oil throughout my hair, brush it out, then I use the thickening treatment, I spray it on my hands, flip my head upside down and rub it into the roots of my hair. I then clip my hair up with a big clip into a huge poof on top of my head and let it dry some while I do my makeup, I then blow my hair out with a round brush and I'm done, It always looks amazing.
I really like this stuff. I started using the whole age defying line in December. I think the bottle of thickening treatment lasted me 5-6 weeks of daily use. I noticed a positive difference right away but even more so as time went on. For reference, I have fine (but lots of it) hair in a short chin length bob that i color light blond...my hair type and color combo show any damage easily so I cut it every 6 weeks. This product got my hair to where I fellt like I could take a break from it and still maintain results. I stopped using it for a month and my hair still looked thicker. I am back to using it again and it doesn't let me down. I believe any thickening product eventually dries out your hair sooner or later and I do take a break from any product- shampoo, cond etc when my hair doesn't have movement. I prefer hair that moves then super thick looking hair that doesn't. As for this causing split ends? It didn't give me that but I could see some raised cuticles but no biggie.
I think a lot of the negative reviews regarding this product are because people are not using it correctly, so I have to chime in here. I have been using the product for 2 weeks so far, if anything changes I will update my review accordingly.
This product is intended to be rubbed on the SCALP only. So obviously if you get split ends with the product you are using it on the ends of your hair... duh. Read the instructions on the package insert. OK back to my review! I have fine thin Northern European hair and I have been experiencing hair loss since age 35. After shampooing my hair I apply Rogaine foam on my worst areas of loss, wait about 10 minutes then I apply the Pantene thickening treatment. I part my hair in different sections, spray close to the scalp and massage it in very well; if you take the time to massage it into the scalp it absorbs completely with no stickiness. Next I apply a different styling product to the lengths of my hair (I alternate with Nexxus Pro-Mend treatment, Nexxus Pro-Mend volume mousse or Catwalk Your Highness thickening gel-creme) and blow-dry or air-dry. Result: at least double the volume at my roots vs. not using Pantene Age-defy thickening treatment. The thing I appreciate the most about this product is that it does not leave hair stiff and coated vs. other thickening products like Living Proof or Pureology thickening spray. The product is meant to be used daily over a long period of time so I will definitely finish my bottle and see what the end result is. FYI I have not tried the Age Defy shampoo and conditioner yet, I am using Fructis Fall Fight and am very happy with that. If you have an Ulta store near you they often have a 3.50$ coupon in their flyer and they sell it for 18.99$.
