Yucky!! This stuff took my beautiful strong nails and made them peel like an orange. They are so dried out its crazy. Now I must pamper them like 10 little babies to get my beauties back. My other half bought it for me so I must quietly return. ;-) Would love to give this a 0. Don't purchase this you will regret it.

Please read wishful10's review before panning this product. So many reviewers do not seem to be using it correctly. If you are using it in any other order than as she directs, you are not going to like this product. But used as she directs, I have noticed a huge difference in the life of my manicure with Chip Skip. It even helps dissolve those little pieces of nail polish I miss during removal. It is especially important to wipe it around the whole border of the nail, up along the edge of the cuticle. My nail polish used to gunk up at the edges and look awful. With the Chip Skip, that does not happen anymore, It works well under OPI, Zoya, Lippmann and most polishes, keeping them from showing any more than slight tip wear. The only brand Chip Skip does not noticeably extend is Orly, but their wear is crappy, so no surprise there. I am really loving this. I just bought two large bottles and would definitely repurchase again.

Chip Skip offers a quick, clean, less-drying and less-smelly way of cleaning and prepping nails before a manicure than nail polish remover does. (Not that you would use this to remove a nail's worth of polish--just any bits of residual polish or cuticle cream, etc., that may have been left behind.) It gives a perfectly clean surface for a base coat and I've noticed that it makes my polish go on more smoothly and evenly. I haven't noticed it preventing end-of-nail polish chips, but it definitely keeps polish on longer around the cuticle edge and sides of the nail--where old polish and cuticle and lotion residue are more likely to be found.

Its weird. Some manicures this really works, other ones it doesn't. I think the key here is to dry out your nail bed so the polish stays on and adheres better. But overall I think this product is way overpriced and doesn't do a good job for the amount I paid, I paid $20 for this! I got it here at a local beauty supply store so maybe thats why but overall, still chips after 3+ days. Really wanted it to last 5+ so maybe I need to go splurge on some Gelish or Shellac.

I really like this. Every time I paint my nails, my polish does not last more than 2 days, until now. I use this and then put my color on top and I am so happy with the results. My manicure lasts longer, thank you OPI! I did give this 4 lippies instead of 5 because it is a little expensive for a polish.

Not impressed; this product did nothing for me, and it certainly DIDN'T prolong my manicure :(

In general, I have a serious problem with getting my polish to adhere, so I purchased a tiny little bottle of this on clearance for $.59, just to try it out.
Awesome! I don't know what is in this crap, but it works as it should. It's very very thin, like water, and when you brush it on it dries instantly. It seems to prep the nails by removing oil that causes peeling/chipping.
Use it underneath your base coat!

EWW, Idk what happened with this product.
The brush is ugly, stiff, yucky, dries out your nails.
Good thing I got it in a Mini first.
I'll stick to my Stickey
I will pass. They need to discontinue this.

I have written a full review on my blog (below) but I absolutely love this stuff and can't believe it has such low rating on MUA! I think most people just are not using it properly! Coming form a soon to be licensed nail tech- your nail has to be clean and dry.

The reviewers below who gave this product a negative rating are not using it correctly. See the long post below mine for correct use. This really works! however, if you don't want to spend the cash, just use a paint brush with regular polish remover to clean your nail BEFORE the basecoat application. All this product does is essentially remove the oil/grease from your hand lotion from your nail. This will make the nail polish adhere better.
A++!

I sort of hate this product. I am going to return it, mainly because it damaged my nails.
As soon as you apply it, it dries out your nail and makes it look dry. After a week of having on the same nail color (It still chipped after a few days), I removed the polish. My nails look and feel completely different. They are bendy, not strong at all, dry and brittle. I feel like the chip skip took out the moisture and basically ruined my nails.
Now I am using treatments to try to get my nails back to normal.

My nails are healthy, strong and long naturally, therefore, I like to keep them well polished and hate when the polish starts to chip. I have been using it since I discovered it about a year ago. I conducted my own experiment by applying it to one hand but not the other and then vice versa (since I am right handed and use that hand more often). I definitely noticed a big difference in the length of time my polish stayed on. I also tried not using it at all on either hand and what a huge difference! My polish really wore off quickly. I haven't tried wearing it under OPI polish, but I have used it under L'oreal, Lancome, Sally Hansen, Ulta, Revlon, and other polish. It really works well. I will purchase this Chip Skip again. I purchased it at Ulta.

Love this! I consistently get 10 days of chip free manicures when I use this. However, when I skimp and only do a partial manicure it doesn't work as well. You have to use the chip skip, base coat, two coats of color and top coat. Wore acrylics for years because I didn't have time to repaint every three days. I can now have natural nails. Also find it works better with opi polish.

When I got my nails done at a spa, they used this on me and the nail polish did last longer. I don't know what was it.. so I bought it, but it didn't work.. Plus when I used it with UD nail polish, it took the paint off my nails... weird.. I don't know... it will just sit my garbage collection I guess..

Didn't work. At all. Nothing more to say..except what a shame, love their nail polishes so a disappointment. Am sticking to salon applied gels now, which hold my nail varnishes on top for weeks.

Totally dried out nails on my toes. Embarrassing! Ruined healthy nails and made them flaky, white marks and unattractive. Not worth the price for this result.

Advantages: Prolongs the wear of nail polish, lasts a long time for many, many manicures
Disadvantages: It's not a 'wonder' product but still very useful to have
Chip Skip is a product that I have recently integrated into my manicure routine and I'm quite happy to recommend this product to anyone wishing to extend the wear of their nail polish between re-paints. I think it works, I'm not saying it's a miracle worker on it's own (as I use various other clever products to achieve a perfect finish on my nails) but I like to use it and haven't felt the need to search for a better version or abandon it at all.
What is Chip Skip?
Chip Skip is a nail plate dehydration treatment. Meaning it will dry the surface of your nails. Just the surface, not the entire structure and so if used correctly this should not make your nail condition any worse by 'drying out' your nails. It's a temporary effect and is meant to be used immediately before painting your basecoat or colour onto the nail. Nail technicians use similar products to improve the adhesion of acrylics to natural nails. Chip Skip essentially prevents nail polish from chipping... letting you skip the chips!
How do I use Chip Skip?
So you've took your old polish off and maybe buffed out a few ridges here and there and filed your nails the way you like. You might have even applied a spot of hand cream, cuticle treatment or nail oil to keep your hands nice and nourished - that's good right? NO!! They'll hamper your nail enamel's staying power. Go wash them off!!! Avoid adding oil and other emollients to your hands before your manicure and when you wash your hands before your manicure try to dry your nails and surrounding areas thoroughly.
Right... onto Chip Skip. Unscrew the cap, wipe off any excess on the bottle neck and brush onto nails. Not in great quantities, but not sparingly either. You'll see that the formula is the consistency of water and that as it's applied to the nail surface it appears to sink in and disappear. Your nail will then look dry and the creases where the nail meets the cuticle and surrounding skin will be oil and moisture free. This is important as it's these edges where nail polish can start to chip first (not just the nail tip) and it's because this is where little bits of hand cream and oil and other moisture like to hide. These products will definitely prevent polish or basecoat from sticking to the nail plate. So make sure to cover all of your nail with Chip Skip. One coat is all you need but feel free to brush more on if you feel you have missed a bit. The brush on Chip Skip is short and stubby, unlike regular nail polish brushes, to make it easy to get into these creases and also it doesn't need to hold the same amount of fluid within it with the consistency being much thinner than polish.
What next?
Go ahead and apply your basecoat/ridge filler or move straight onto coloured polish. You've got plenty of time so there's no need to rush. Your nails will stay dehydrated long enough for you to apply your polish without reverting back to their previous hydration level.
I always recommend a short drying time between coats of polish and highly recommend a good top coat to finish the manicure. I mainly use colours from OPI's range of nail enamels but Chip Skip is compatible with any brand of polish.
When you've finished your nails and everything is dry and set - this is the right time to go ahead and apply moisturisers and nail oils etc. Sit back and enjoy your manicure!
I can't fault this product so I've awarded it a full 5 lipsticks. If you're enthusiastic about your manicures or just looking to get longer wear out of your favourite colour then invest in a bottle of Chip Skip.

The brush is SO tiny it takes forever just to even apply it, and most of the color from your nail ends back up on your brush. The product did not even work, my nails chipped in two days! I tried using a normal brush from another nail polish but it did nothing to help. This product is worthless. Maybe you could add it over the top coat to add extra protection? I am not sure, but I am never using this stuff ever again. I just threw it away, such a waste,
