I got the travelling size of this at Sephora. Some background info: Long, layered asian hair..thick and tons of it.
It definitely creates volume, even with the smallest amount...what I did was section the crown of my damp hair & light spritz a small amount to the roots all over my head, followed by combing my entire head to distribute the product. I then blewdry my hair with a round brush, focusing on the crown to create volume.
The finished result was astonishing for such a spray! It gave me volume that I would have expected from a mouse - NOT from a spray! It gave some texture, and a whole lot of volume.
If you ran fingers through the crown of my hair, you could 'feel' the product. It's not sticky or slimy or anything, but you could tell something was added in for the volume. However, it doesnt make your hair crunchy or hard to comb through, making it usable with other products/tools. No obvious smell afterwards.
Unfortunately for me though, the volume did not last 48 hours. Perhaps this was because I tied my hair up in a bun when I worked out..which resulted in my with literally damp hair. Maybe that's why. I think if this was used on someone with lighter layers than me, with less hair, the volume would be even more dramatic and longer lasting.
Packaging is effective.
I don't know if I'll repurchase the product again. It's very nice and all, but I did find it a little costly..and its not a product that I need everyday so I think I can live without it. It's definitely something nice to have though!
For my fine hair, this product really has helped maintain volume; I'm not certain about the claims of maintaining it over days at a time, but certainly for the majority of the workday after I put it on, I do find it gives a nice lift. If you have time to throw your hair in a few curlers after drying your hair with this product, I also find that effective.
Like other sprays with Alterna, I have found this to be somewhat drying. So I would recommend only using this a couple times a week if split ends/breakage are an issue. Otherwise, it's a solid product.
Great for medium-fine hair. I like to spray in my hand and run through my hair rather then spray directly. MKe sure to wash your hands with soap & warm water after because it's very very sticky.
I have incredibly fine, curly, shoulder length hair that is usually weighed down or becomes sticky or crunchy by products meant to add volume. This is the first product I've ever used that not only maintains the volume my limp hair so desperately lacks, but also retains the structure of my curls for days between shampoos. Usually after sleeping on my curls they become flat and ruined, but this keeps them plump and bouncy like no other product I've ever used. My routine includes washing my hair then applying a light leave-in conditioner and a curl defining gel-cream, after which I spray Bamboo Volume 48-Hour Sustainable Volume Spray throughout my hair and blow dry with a diffuser; I finish with a setting/holding styling mist. After trying product after product in search of obtaining the volume and curl definition I want, I've finally found the finishing touch to my hair routine that gets my curls how I want them to look! It may be pricey, but I think it's worth every penny.
it's didn't do anything with my hair.
my hair got just little volume for maybe about 2 hour.
it might be ( not sure) work with really thin hair type as it's so light.
I have long (past shoulders) hair, which is layered. The texture of my hair is fine, but I have a lot of it. I bought this product based on the reviews in Style magazine - I am disappointed. I have tried it several times now and I found it left my hair difficult to brush when dry, and left it feeling dry and a similar feeling as if there was a supper strong mousse or hairspray in my hair. I didn't notice any boost in volume in the hair shaft or at the root. I had hoped for more - especially given the price....
I wish there was a "maybe" category for repurchase. Claims of increasing volume 105% are laughable. It's more like 15% which is ok I guess because the one thing I like about this product is that it is undetectable. I picked it up after In Style "reviewed" it as a superior product. I am not inclined to believe any review in magazines that have advertisers that they have to please and this just reinforces that. That is why I source Paula Begoun because she is independent of these influences. Unfortunately she doesn't review many hair care products.
