One of my favorite drugstore mascaras, not my all time HG, but I was happy for the price and performance. It made my lashes full and voluminous. I got it for $3 something and figured it was worth a try. This gave a ton of volume without all the flaking and clumping I got from Maybelline Falsies. This wand is soft and the bristles are very close together. Just like with any new tube it will be wet on the first couple applications, but as air gets into the tube, it gets better. I find that after a week, my mascara is at its best. I hate hate hate getting it in my eyes and the burning (always seems to happen with cover girl for some reason) but this didn't do that. I do agree that you cannot "comb" through your lashes with this brush, so if you want major length and separation, don't get this one. It will plump them up and give some length and drama. I have medium length lashes and usually curl them before applying mascara. I do notice flaking once in a while at the end of the day, but you get that with the collagen mascaras. I still think it's worth it.
Flaky nightmare! Put it on at 10am and it flaked off onto my cheeks by 1pm. Will not buy again.
I'm confused as to why this has such horrid reviews, though I am aware that mascara is one of those beauty products that is not one size/type fits all. But I positively adore this mascara. It is one of my drugstore faves. I've been using more and more drugstore makeup towards the end of 2012 and on into 2013. I have to say that I really do not miss my high end items and I can successfully remove them from my arsenal once they run out.
This mascara provides volume, length and seperation to my lashes. I have pretty good lashes to begin with and this mascara makes them stand out. The Very Black is indeed quite black and gives my lashes an inky darkness, this is not a matte/dry looking mascara finish. Will definitely repurchase again.
I really like this mascara. I used to use a much more expensive Estee Lauder one, but I find this works just as well with fewer clumps. I do put on quite a few coats, but I'm used to doing this with other mascaras. I get asked all the time if I'm wearing false lashes. I tried DiorShow mascara recently, and I think they perform very comparably.
This mascara is absolutely awful!
- No volume
- No length
- Bad packaging
- Awful Brush
- Bad smell
- Its black
sooo save your $$ or buy the ORIGINAL L'oreal Voluminous
Yikes...this product was a nightmare. I bought the extra volume collagen mascara L'Oreal put out before this one, and really enjoyed it. But I think that this is probably the clumpiest mascara I've ever used. Granted, my lashes are already unruly and not easy to tame, but this was insane. Every time I put it on it looked like I had 5 eyelashes. I'm not kidding. It was also so messy. I would always get it on my lids and ruin my eyeshadow. I ended up just trashing it after a few uses because a mascara for about $8-9 should not be such a hassle.
I've been a fan of the original Voluminous mascara but having been let down by a previous drugstore mascara (I'm looking at you, Falsies Black Drama!), I wasn't expecting much. I have itty bitty thin lashes and this stuff made them look HUGE. Like Kim Kardashian huge. I personally love the brush and was able to go over my lashes again and again without it ever clumping. I would say it's comparable to Benefit's They're Real but super easy to wash off (and about $18 cheaper!). The only drawback? I would recommend using a different mascara on the bottom lashes since the brush is so big that you'll get a bit of it on your face. Or if you want natural looking lashes, skip altogether.
I can't wait till I finish this tube and can reasonably buy another mascara. I'm on a college-student budget, so when my mascara was running out and I saw this on sale for $3 something I couldn't resist. I have this in the dark brown (maybe it's called black brown? brown black? It isn't marked on the tube that I can see).
It makes my lashes VERY clumpy and is too heavy to use on my bottom lashes, which I have done with all other mascaras I have previously used. I know some people may use special mascaras or brushes for bottom lashes, but I can't afford that, and I'm sure many others can't bother with that either. One tube should be able work for top and bottom. Once some time passed and it dried out a little, I had less problems with clumping, but that still took a month or two.
Pros: Color was good, adds length and volume
Cons: Clumpy, spider lashes, not good for bottom lashes
I feel as though this product needs some love. Personally, this is one of my favorite mascaras of all time!! If you loved Maybelline's The Falsies, then you'll love this product!! This is a SERIOUS mascara when it comes to length and volume. I have discolored, thin lashes, and this mascara just makes them go phwooooom! I'm talking about serious length- when I have this stuff on, my lashes can almost touch my eyebrows! Also, this gives awesome thickness and volume to my lashes mostly at the base of the lashline, which makes them look dense and sexy. This is the only mascara I've owned that actually holds a curl really well too! It is also very intense color-wise- the black one is REALLY dark. The staying power is pretty good- it may run when in contact with water, but that's why there's a waterproof version. I can understand why some of the reviewers below me don't like it, though- Power Volume Collagen has a super big brush with not-so-dense bristles that allow lots of product to get into the lashes. I love it, but that's just my preference. I definetely agree with the title of this mascara- POWER Volume. I would recommend this to anyone who loves The Falsies and any mascara that gives serious drama to the lashes. :)
Beware contact lens wearers! This product may cause horrible irritation by the end of the day. I've had to throw away multiple contact lenses as a result of rubbing my eyes from the painful itchiness this stuff causes after wearing it for a full day. It's fine from 9-5... but then what's the point of having it last 24H? This mascara volumizes and thickens lashes just fine, but there are definitely better, cheaper products out there. I regret buying this.
