I love the color on me it tones down to a natural look with just one application of this very large spade foot. It's in a plastic container with a little window to see how much is in it, that's a nice touch since most others don't do that. I noticed that the gloss was gone after I ate something but the stain remained, very nice.
It felt sticky but smooth, not at all the kind of sticky that dries out my lips. I did not notice a fragrance good or bad with my gloss/stain. What I did notice was how easy this was to apply, how light it felt after it dried. I even applied one coat and blotted my lips to see how that would go over with my lips and it left a very light color on my lips, just enough color to make them look natural, no gloss which is fine.
I have a hard time finding some things like lip stuff, I can never find a color that makes my lips look good without drying them out. This has not made my lips scream for moisture and it's not slippery with the gloss. I am impressed, but what does not impress me is the amount of money required to buy this $32, OMG!
Despite the amount of money to buy these, I think I will try another color, the hard part will be finding another one that I will want to wear everyday like this one, that will look natural on me. I can not let my husband have any idea how much these cost, he will pass out from shock, gotta hide the receipts, LOL!
I read about this product by accident on MUA, which ignited my curiosity. So I went to Sephora and tried on a few colors. I ended up loving #4--the Mauve color. But oh my gosh it's expensive. I never would have bought it except I got some unexpected money for my birthday. I ordered mine from the YSL website and got 10% off my first order plus free shipping, so I saved a few bucks. I don't think I can add much new information to other reviews of this product. It is rather unique in texture and longevity, that's for sure. The mauve color looks fairly light and purplish in the tube, and it goes on fairly light, but then deepens into something beautiful with purple tones and the slightest gloss. It's not an "in your face" wet looking gloss. It's not the most pigmented of formulas, but that works for me, as I do sheer formulas better than creams on my lined lips. I wore it to work today--I work in a Montessori school--and this survived through the morning (from about 8 until 11:45 when I ate lunch; the salad dressing was a little oily so the gloss broke down). Pretty good for a gloss! If I hadn't eaten lunch I would have gotten at least another hour or two worth of wear out of my morning application. A little 5 year old boy came up and said, "Why are you wearing lipstick?" And I said, "Well, I got it for my birthday, and I like it!" The fact that a little boy commented on it--that he seemed to like it actually--made my day! If I ever get some more unexpected cash, I'd like to get another shade some day, but that kind of spending is pretty profligate for me. But I will use this one judiciously and enjoy it like mad.
