Illamasqua Shrapnel was one of three polishes that won their Nail Varnish Competition in which fans sent ideas for unique colors they wanted to see. This particular varnish was inspired by a brand new shiny copper penny and is described as "rose copper chrome with metallic finish." In the result, we get this fantastic shade.
It is quite unique and I have not seen anything like it. Being limited, I treasure my bottle. It's very long lasting but with many metallic nail polishes there is some minor streaking of the brush when applied.
In between having to get the vet for a horse who cut his leg, my latest Illamasqua order arrived and it included two nail polishes, one being 'Shrapnel'. There was a bit of shrapnel flying as I tried to get a bandage on "Bling's" ripped cannon and I am now relaxing with some bubbly pink wine and indulging in the excellent stuff written on Makeup Alley. This polish resonates all too strongly with a refugee from the disco era! Its a sort of highly metallic quite vivid corally, no, sunsetty pinky orange, mid tone, weirdly retro-tarty colour. I cannot decide whether I love it or hate it. Whatever, its gone on opaque in one coat, seems to have dried indelible, in what I now associate with my loved Illamasqua queer beauty.
