This is some powerful stuff!!! I have the Liquid Lip Color in both Cherry Coffee and Sherbet. Mary Kay is marketing this as "the coverage of a lipstick with the foolproof application of a lip gloss". It is neither. This has the coverage of a lip stain. It is very difficult to sheer out and it gets everywhere. It definitely stains the lips for hours-which can be a good thing if that's what you are looking for. The application is soooo tricky. You CANNOT apply this like a lip gloss even though it has a doe foot applicator. One wrong move and your screwed. It stains! After much "playing around" here's how I found to apply:
*Take a tissue and blot the doe foot applicator on it to get rid of excess product.
*Starting with the bottom lip, apply in tiny circular motions until most of lip is covered -then very carefully apply to lip line. Don't apply from side to side like lip gloss-it will streak
*repeat process with top lip.
*blot with tissue-very carefully! Don't put lips together like a lipstick to even out-you will regret your new stained lip line.
*You now will have a color stain that will last half a day!
Practice makes perfect-play around with it first before going out in public. After I blot off the excess, I then apply a balm or gloss because this is not moisturizing at all. It does not budge or smear-which is great because it doesn't bleed into fine lines. It will fade eventually, but it fades evenly-unlike certain "long last" lipsticks which kind of flakes off.
Has a minty feel/scent but does not last.
CHERRY COFFEE: A deep but somewhat bright brick red with a hint of berry. Way too dark for me (NC25) for a daily wear, but I can top with a golden gloss to tone it down.-This color is VERY tricky to apply. It is beautiful though-just not for me.
SHERBET-A bright-ish peachy cantaloupe that would be great for summer-This color is more forgiving in the application process because its lighter but its still not like the ease of a gloss.
Overall the quality is good-it lasts and a tube of this will last forever since a little goes a loong way. However its such a pain to apply that is just isn't worth it.
