I'm surprised at the low rating for this one. This is now my HG mascara. I love that it coats my lashes evenly and dries quickly thus minimizing smudges. The brush is great-small enough to really get the base of my lashes which is a must as I have naturally blond lashes. It holds a curl and lasts all day without smudging or flaking. It is a bit difficult to remove at night but then most waterproof mascaras are. Afforadable and readily available at Ulta. (For reference my previous HG was Maybelline Lash Discovery but I no longer purchase it due to my conversion to buying cosmetics that are not tested on animals).

I almost only use waterproof mascaras and there are a number of them out there that I like, but this one was not up to par. The formula was very wet and therefore built VERY little volume (and I like natural looking mascaras!). It also left my lashes crunchy. If you want a natural looking mascara, try Maybelline's Full n Soft waterproof. Much better than this mascara!

I tried this product because I needed a water proof mascara. I have been using Doll Eyes mascara by NYX for the last year and luv it! However, It doesn't come in waterproof so I ordered this one with high hopes! I will say that it truly is waterproof and very black. The only thing I didn't like was it is not very thick so you have to let it dry between coats and apply quite a few layers. IF you are looking for more of a natural look this might work for you. I also found it to be messy when you close the mascara. It seems to ooze out at the top! So long story short I don't think I would buy this again! If you do want to try a NYX mascara try Doll Eyes you won't regret it!!

Ugh. This is so difficult to work with. I only buy wp mascaras because they are the only kind that will hold a curl in my lashes, which this does, but that's the only good thing I can say for it. The consistency is incredibly wet & messy. Takes forever to dry, making it even more accident prone. Not good at lengthening or volumizing. Trying to add a second coat doesn't help, just gets clumpy. This formula is seriously lame, don't waste your money. continued >>

First of all, let me say that I only use waterproof mascara when I know I'm going to the beach or pool. I'm not one of those girls who goes waterproof everyday, so I really haven't tried TOO many mascaras of that variety. Having said that, this is definitely the best wp mascara that I've used. I received a full size of this in one of my Beauty Army boxes, and it has definitely come in handy for the summer. I didn't have high expectations for a NYX mascara, but this definitely stays put on your lashes! This is the only waterproof mascara I've tried that doesn't flake off or smudge at all. Definitely make sure you have a good eye makeup remover! I find this rarely clumps too, though I see from the comments that some disagree. It doesn't seem to have an excessively wet formula either, but again it seems others found their tubes to be quite the opposite. I, however, would gladly purchase another tube of this!

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. My local store that sells NYX got rid of the doll lashes line and replaced it with this. I like waterproof mascara, so I picks this one up in hopes of it working well. Boy, was I wrong! Right when I pulled the wand up from the tube, the product inside came up to the top and spilled out, and the brush was still overfilled with mascara. I wiped it and used it on my lashes...It works pretty well if you get most of the product off of the wand and go slowly, and it does have really good staying time, I must give it that. But if you are in a rush, then this is not the mascara for you. It will clump! You will need new mascara within 2-3 weeks considering how much gets out of the tube. Also, the brush is too big for my liking....Not worth it, I do recommend the waterproof doll-eye, though! :)

I prefer waterproof mascaras, as I tend to get smudges with other types most of the time.

One of my favorites is ELF's Waterproof Lengthening and Volumizing mascara, but I wanted to try something different. This mascara goes on quite wet, but doesn't stay that way for very long (not long enough to smudge onto my eyeshadow if I open my eyes after applying it--I hate that!). It does seem to be waterproof, as I even took a nap through part of the day while wearing it (hey, it's summer vacation!), but when I woke up it hadn't moved.

I can see how this might clump if you go too heavy, but I'm always very conservative in applying mascara; I just want to have the look of my original lashes, but more defined and noticeable... Applying several coats of this to get a dramatic effect might make this more clumpy. But for typical, every day use, I find this mascara to be totally great!

Background - I ONLY wear wp mascaras and have test driven A LOT of them (as indicated by all the reviews I've done of them.) I was excited to try this because I'm really liking a few other NYX products.

PROS: its cheap, very pretty deep black color that goes on a little wet and dries quickly (I prefer mascaras that do this). Easy to get at Ulta. This give pretty good volume and really good length to my lashes. It wears well throughtout my day (no raccoon eyes which, yes you can get even from wp mascaras).

CONS: it tends to clump just a bit = I have to apply more slowly than my other wp mascaras. It wears well throughtout my day (no raccoon eyes which, yes you can get even from wp mascaras).

Here is my BIG complaint: I ALWAYS set my entire face w/ Urban Decay's All Nighter (the successor to Skindinavia's Dance! which has been d/c. UD AN is made by Skindinavia and the ingredients are identical to Dance! w/ the 1 small exception of the 3rd or 4th to last ingredient.) PROBLEM = this mascara smudges like crazy every time I (lightly) spray UD - none of my other HG wp mascaras budge when I spray UD = not very pleased!

For now, I'm giving a 3. I'm going to test out the waterproofness in the next few days and will report back.

I am an avid wp mascara user. I need wp mascara to hold the curl in my lashes. Upon first application, I thought this wasn't going to work, because for being wp, it's quite wet. I find this unique because most, if not all WP mascaras I have used are on the dry side - which can become problematic if you really like to build or sculpt the lash. This does not get clumpy, but you really need to wait for it to dry between coats because it is just too wet to build if you don't - it basically just keeps pulling pigment off when trying to build. BUT - if you wait you can build some fab lashes, and it holds the curl. This also held up amazingly well when I was working out. My normal wp mascaras usually wilt the curl when I sweat a lot, and I still get some smudging underneath. My lashes looked perfect when I was done with my workout with this stuff on - and trust me - sweat was dripping into my eyes (I'm doing Insanity) for almost a full hour. So I'd say, for the price, it's a good solid waterproof mascara that is very buildable for volume and length. Give it a try, you can always return it to Ulta if you end up not liking it, and it's cheap to begin with.
EDIT 3/7/12 - I am upgrading from 4 to 5 lippies. This has been giving me consistently good results. The formula only gets better as it ages, a bit thicker so I don't have the problem with having to wait so much between coats like I did at first. The thing I love about this is because it is so much more wet than I am used to, it holds curl BUT brings it down just SLIGHTLY. Sometimes when I curl my lashes, a few lashes will have weird kinks in them. If I put on a dry mascara, the lashes hold exactly how they were - weird kinks and all. This mascara kind of helps to smooth everything out, while still holding a natural curl. So my lashes look much more uniform. It thickens a good amount, lengthens a lot - and I have not had a single smudge OR flake with this. Usually WP mascaras tend to smudge under the eye because they are made to be removed with an oil type remover - so if I have eye cream on or what have you they smudge. But this just doesn't - and it isn't any more of a PITA to take off than any other WP mascara. Love this. Will definitely be stocking up when Ulta has NYX BOGO 1/2 off plus use their coupons they always send out.

It is an average waterproof mascara. At first application it looks like nothing going on. You can build up to more dramatic lashes, but it tends to get messy. I have deep set eyes and I kept getting mascara all over my brow bone and upper lid. This never happens with my Cover Girl Lash Blast. So just be sure you have some eye make up remover to clean up any mess. It seems more durable than Maybelline or L'oreal mascaras as even the wp ones tend to smudge on me. Le Chick Flick held it's ground well, but was not truly road tested for "waterproof".
