Ugh. So annoyed with myself!
I swatched these on the back of my hand and bought three, Forever Coral, Forever Plum and Forever Pink. I already own BeneFit pink, coral and red tints but I wanted ones that are easily taken out and I thought these would be great. They were darker and more vibrant than I expected, but when the gloss wore off it left a nice hint of colour.
Big, BIG mistake. On my hand the tint was subtle - on my lips they are not. They show up every little flake and crack and wear unevenly, so when the gloss is gone I *have* to reapply or it looks patchy. But I don't like the colours of the gloss! Once the gloss wears off on my lips, the tint is very, very vibrant and none of the colours suit me. The plum is too dark, the pink is too bright, as is the coral. The wand is horrible as well - it's got a little hole in the middle where the gloss sits, so when you apply it, all you get is the gloss in the middle part of your lips not all the way round, and I don't want to have to carry a lip brush around with me - this is supposed to be a convenient product!
Lastly - the smell. I hate it. It is one of those bubblegum, overly sweet scents that some might like, but that turn my stomach. Really unpleasant. Puts me in mind of a childhood medicine that I didn't like!
Overall, a waste of the Ģ15 I paid for the three as I don't think I'll use them.

This was great. This was my first ever lipstain, and I loved it. I was thinking about wearing it to school, but changed my mind when I put it on. Again I wanted to buy brick red or hot pink, but my friend talked me out of it. We were sort of looking for a baby pink color and was deciding based on the color swatch provided by maybelline. Bad choice. We settled on 100 Pink Plush because it looked like a light pink. When I tried it on, it ended up being more of a darkish berry pink. When I went to wipe it off, it left a stain that looked like I was a vampire and just drank blood or something. It does stain well! I decided to save it for stuff like homecoming and graduations. Great buy, though. Just don't expect light baby pinks from this line. If you want a lightish pink, buy a high shine maybelline lipstick. I got one and they work great. Superstay 10 are for more intense colors. They also don't draw out chapped lips.

I got this in Pink Plush and I really like the colour. But I just want to say how AMAZING this product smells.

My mom purchased this in refreshing red after I have had good luck with lipstains. (I particularly like Revlon in Gothic Red - great color and lasts a long time. Only problem is that the product dries out somewhat quickly - like a magic marker).
Well, this product made my mom's lips tingle, so she gave it to me. I think the applicator is pretty nice - it is better than the stains that look like you are drawing on your lips with a marker. It does have pleasant smell - like strawberries.
The gloss aspect is a joke. It goes on wet, and then dries like a regular stain. You need to put gloss or balm on to avoid the sticky-yet-dry feeling.
The refreshing red is a really pretty color, but it does not last. A drink or a meal will take it all off except for a little lingering color.
I am sticking with Revlon or Cover girl lip stain with my trust maybelline lip gloss on top.

We all know that "long wear" lip products come in two varieties. They either wear a very long time while sucking the life out of your lips, or they don't wear half as long as they claim. This product is the latter variety. But having said that, I really love it. It does maintain a shiny quality much longer than a typical gloss, and it indeed stains the lips to retain color for several hours. The intensity will fade, but I would much rather reapply than have my lips all dried out and cracking. It smells good, the applicator is quite luscious, and the color selection is nice.

I really like this lip stain. I gave it a 4 because of its "gloss" claim. it is not a gloss... i repeat IT IS NOT A GLOSS!
When you first put it on it comes on sheer and pretty and beautiful... as it dries it takes a "balm-y" texture. I guess this is where the supposed "gloss" comes from. I mean I have even kissed a napkin and there was a clear lip mark on it. after that it drives very very quickly and a lip balm is needed.
I say lip balm because a lip gloss will make it easier to wipe off. A balm will give it some chance. For me I never make it to the 10 hour mark, because once meal time hits I eat it away. I did fall asleep without removing it last night and had a wonderful pretty tint still to my lips. So I guess it can hang in there if you're doing nothing for hours (even though shame on me for conking out in my makeup)

I have it in the shade fresh fuscia and HOLY COW they weren't kidding about the fuscia thing! It is bright and rather dark fuscia! I was a little bummed because when I think "stain" I think of a more subtle color. But this little guy packs a punch! I almost returned it but before I did I went online and did some research on the product. I now know that if you put a bit on your finger (don't worry it comes off with soap and water) then spread it onto your lips it applies in a much more sheer way.
YOU NEED TO WEAR LIP BALM OR SOMETHING WITH THIS PRODUCT. Not only to help it apply more smoothly but because it is a stain it likes to attach itself to dry patches and cracks in the lips.
I know this claims to be a "stain gloss" but I don't really get the glossy affect it claims to have :P
For the "10 hour wear" claim I call that BS. I went and entire school day without reapplying and it was totally gone by the end of the day. HOWEVER, I have noticed that if I re-apply maybe once or twice is does start to really stain the lips and stick around for a pretty good long time.
This comes in a variety of really nice shades, but make sure to check online for swatches, the cap colors are a bit off. And if you're not sure what shade or if you'll even like the product head to Ulta, they have a great return policy for opened and used products :)

The concept of this new product is admirable, however the actual formulation needs a lot more work. Even on dry super-exfoliated lips, the color just slips off in no time. I got the Coral color, and while it's pretty it doesn't last long enough to enjoy. I had to return this product, it did not live up to my expectation for a new and upcoming lip product.

Got this in Fresh Fucsia and I'm not that satisfied with this purchase. First of all, it is not a gloss at all. Nor does it last that long on me either. It doesn't have the consistency of a stain, more like a lipstick but at least it doesn't dry out your lips. I might as well use regular lipstick and the smell is a little weird. I may continue to use it now and then, but I won't bother buying any more if I run out.

I am totally disappointed by this product for several reasons. 1) It isn't a gloss - at all. The color is completely matte and actually very drying on my lips. I have to put a layer of lip balm over it for it to be comfortable. 2) The color swatches and product lids misrepresent the color of the product. For example, the "Mauve Dream" color is not mauve or even in the lilac family - it goes on and dries orange. 3) The delivery mechanism is a spongey paddle thing that makes it really hard to apply it neatly. 4) The colors of the two that I got (100 and 180) are hideous. 100 makes me look like I just drank a gallon of Hawaiian Punch and 180 is an unflattering orange shade. The only good thing is that the color lasts a long time but with these colors, do I really want them to last? 5) The smell: cherry cough syrup.

I have Mauve Dream, and I wear it ALL the time. The color on the bottle is accurate, not on the website, and it goes on like a gloss and dries into a stain. It also smells AMAZING and I will repurchase! The only thing is that obviously, its super pigmented. I wear it lightly or on days when I feel like wearing an intense lip color.

I would not call this a stain or even a gloss, on me it was a liquid lipstick that set and dried. I chose the lightest shade, a pink. It went on nicely, and I thought it was a luminous finish, but then it looked sort of frosty. How did they manage that? This is simply another long lasting lip color. There is no gloss at all, even when first applied. It also doesn't have the look of a stain. Update: I want to give it another try. I want more YSL Glossy Stains, and this seems to be the only drugstore alternative. So I will choose one of the bright shades. You put this one, blot it, and then apply again. It will stay 5 + hours, but not the full 10 hours.

I put this on and my lips STUNG. They literally felt enflamed.
Now, I'll admit here that I do have sensitive lips, but it's the first time my lips have reacted so strongly to a product.
Definitley not ever using this again.

i LOVE this product. its a stain without drying out your lips! and the color doesn't feather or fade in the middle like most stains do. feels completely natural, not heavy or sticky, Leaves your lips with a gorgeous "just pinched" natural flush of color. i will buy these in every shade. Definitely the best lipstain i've ever tried.

I have this in Cool Coral and Refreshing Red since I was looking for an understated red stain. I love both of these, but prefer cool coral because it is a warmer tone. I would say this is more of a coral red than a true coral.
This definitely does not have a 10 hour staying power, and will come right off when you're eating, but this is the best red lip stain that I have found. It's not super pigmented, but it gives a sexy, wearable red that is appropriate for daytime. It is reasonably moisturizing. I'm not a huge fan of the smell, but it could be worse.
I am going to stock up on this.

I own a handful of these and really like them, though they way underperform in terms of their longevity. My lips tend to eat lipstains (of which I've tried so many!) so I wasn't expecting to get anywhere close to 10 hours of wear no matter what the label claimed, but I didn't get even 4 hours with these. YMMV here, as I find that longwear lip products of all stripes tend to wear off faster on me than on most people. They do last longer than lipglosses on me and as long as a full coverage lipstick, which is good enough for me to keep using them.
For lipglosses, these don't have much shine. The only lipgloss-esque thing about them is the tube and wand application style so I'm unsure why Maybelline markets these as a stain/gloss hybrid. These are incredibly pigmented (so much so that on first application, they almost look like lipstick), lightweight gel stains that dries down to a satin finish. The gel spreads easily and evenly, which makes these a huge winner in my book. So many stains that I've tried go on patchily, leaving me with bright hyper pigmented spots among areas of more washed out color. These apply as evenly as a good lipstick, and the unusual paddle looking applicator makes them easy to work with. They fade evenly too. They feel nice on, not tacky, not drying, not heavy. I can almost forgot I'm wearing anything though I would imagine people with drier lips than mine will require lipbalm or gloss on top to wear comfortably as these don't have any slip to them.
The colors are great though they skew cool and bright. This works well for my coloring, though it may be disappointing for warmer toned ladies. I can't wear warm shades of lipstick, but even the coral shade (which is far more red than any coral should be. the orange and peachy tones were very minimal) worked on me. My favorite shades are Pink Plush (a medium mid-tone pink), Refreshing Red (a semi-sheer neutral red) and Mauve Dream (a pinky brown).
Overall, a good additional to Maybelline's line even though their weartime is deceptively low. They make for great low maintenance lipcolor as they're budge, feather and transfer proof, last reasonably long and look good until they disappear.

I bought one of those yesterday, and I have to admit, Iīm positively surprised! It delivers really juicy, punchy color (I have No. 190 Forever Berry), which I didnīt expect. It stays glossy only if I donīt eat, but even if I do, the stain it leaves on the lips is really nice and even. No way that this lasts 10hours, but I still like it and will get one more in a more subtle shade. That said, compared with the new Yves Saint Laurent Stain-Glosses, it canīt win, because they are REALLY longlasting (also the gloss-part) and just magnificent.

This is a pretty good stain. Applies great. I hate the pen types which seem to get too dry before I get done putting it on my lips. I like that I have better control with how much I apply with this one. The gloss is nice and it does last a long time. Maybe not 10 hours but definately quite a while. Will buy again!

I really like the wand on these lip stains. I also like the way it wears and feels. Doesn't stay on me for 10 hrs, but it does last a very very long time. The only problem I have for this is that there aren't any lighter colors. And when you buy this, the color is going to much darker than what you're expecting!

When I first bought this I picked out a nice red. OMG these come out so much darker & bolder than the tube looks like! So I'd suggest probably going a shade lighter than you want. The packaging on this is a bit funky and seems more old school than something for 2012. The applicator is this weird oval but it worked just fine on my lips. I did apply this, wait at least a minute, and then went along on my way through out the day. It held up maybe 5 hours. I am a lip balm junkie so I'm always applying either Carmex, Blistex (teal tube), or the Lipsmackers in Dr. Pepper. Thus it was gone. For me 5hrs is a good chunk of time so I didn't return this. I'm not sure if the "10" on this means it's supposed to last 10 hrs but if you're expecting that then you're going to be disappointed. I personally won't be re-buying this as if I wanted a lip stain I'll stick to the Revlon Just Bitten since it tends to last a few more hours than this.
Note: This review is left an overall rating of 3 because I feel that others could love this and get it to work for them. continued >>
