I purchased this lipstick two days ago and I fell in love with it instantly. Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet is worth every cent I paid: good colour pigmentation and long lasting. After eating and drinking, I only reapplied later at night after work. This colour makes your lips look fresh and the velvet touch makes your lips look kissable. Besides, the packaging is really fancy.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not a beauty-geek or a professional
1)It is a very decent, elegant color.
2)It looks very beautiful on East Asian girls who have a bright personality with conservative life style. Good for office and day time activities.
beautiful packaging. i love matte lipsticks and this is actually perfect. this is my HG i love it!!! i use a tiny bit of balm underneath and it goes on seamlessly and looks so gorgeous. the smell is nice and the colour....the colour is universal!! it'd suit any skin tone. it's warm and sort of a lip coloured pink, it doesn't differ too much from my normal natural lipcolour...it just warms them up. it's wonderful for an everyday lipstick and it's well worth the money
A true gem: a glowing mauve with warm pink undertones, packaged in a beautiful black and gold casing. Goes great with blue eyes. It is true that your lips have to be in top condition in order to wear it, but not like some reds where every tiny flake shows. I exfoliate mine before wear with a brown sugar lip scrub and then prep them with just a touch of balm (don't use a real slick balm or the lipstick will end up on your teeth). It goes on best if you use a lip brush, like the retractable one made by Chanel. Sounds like a lot of effort for a lipstick, but trust me, it's worth the extra effort.
I tried this lipstick in Saks, and really really liked it. It is soft and creamy, and has good staying power. I usually avoid matte because they are so drying, but this one felt very good. However, within an hour, my lips started flaking badly. While I didn't have perfect lips to begin with, this one caused it to flake. I decided not to buy it. The color is very nice, feels so creamy, and I want it so badly because it looks so natural and pouty on, but I cannot deal with the flaking. I will use a lip balm and try this again, if my lips continue to flake I won't buy it. Sigh! Some of Chanel lipsticks that have high staying power cause me to dry out and flake, wish Chanel made better matte lipsticks.
Bought this in search of a good quality everyday lipstick. The colour isn't too daring (a mauve pink) making it suitable for daywear, but if you layer it, the colour is borderline reddish making it suitable for nightwear
After first applying it, texture is really nice (feels like a lip balm) but after a few minutes it feels a little strange, Like your lips are really smooth but dry as if there is no product there. In saying this, the staying power is great and doesn't need to be reapplied often.
As usual, the packaging is sleek. The nice cold black (metal?) Chanel packaging. Something different with this lipstick is you have to click the base of the lipstick then remove the cap which covers the entire length of the product
-love this color- dark pink mauve
-love the chic design
-can wear it everyday and at night as well
-suits my skintone NC37 so amazing
-it is a lil bit drying but i can live with that fact bc this color is too beautiful
--i am definitely gonna buy this again--
This is my favourite colour in the Rouge Allure Velvet collection. It goes wonderful with smokey eyes, I can wear it day or night and look fabulous. Its matte and reminds me of the Kim Kardashian nude look, it applied lightly. It gives my lips a beautiful glow without looking shiny, if applied with a brush and mixed with #37, gorgeous colour is the rsult. Will buy again n again!!
Like the reviewer below, I would describe this colour as a mauvey pink (NW15/NARS Siberia, pigmented lips). The colour itself isn't that special, I think it can be easily duped. However, the finish of this lipstick is what makes this lipstick special. It truly is a velvet finish, almost matte, but not completely, very different from all the sheer and shiny lipsticks that have been released this past year. The colour pay off is great, it is a very pigmented lipstick and the effect is very refined and classy. What surprised me was that this lipstick, despite the matte finish, was not drying on me at all. Your lips have to be in a pretty decent state in order for this to look its best, but it does not dry my lips out, which is great. I really love the combination of this colour and the finish. I personally feel that this finish will not work with every colour (I don't think it's suitable for nude colours for example, but it is also amazing with reds). I am not sure if I would repurchase, because of the price point of these lipsticks, but I definitely think that it is a very nice colour and a wonderful finish and if money was no object, I definitely would.
You can read about how I fell into the allure of the RAVs in my review for 39 La Somptueuse.
This looks like a bright cool rose pink in the tube. On my pigmented lips, it translates into a cool mauvey pink.
The texture is amazing. It's not suck-your-lips dry matte, it's a smooth velvet, much like the surface of freshly opened ice cream. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything more than balm though. I often forget I even have this on in fact.
This shade diverges from my daily palette of warm nudes and warm pinks (I'm an NC 40) but it's different enough without being in your face. I believe la raffinee means the sophisticate; that's exactly how I feel with this on. I wear this a few times a week.
The packaging is divine; you have to press in the tube to get it to pop out. It took me a few minutes to figure that one out when I got it.
One word of caution, you can only wear this on good lip days. If there's flaking or dry spots, this formula isn't forgiving. I make sure I have even, exfoliated lips, and put on a thin film of balm on underneath to protect from the winter wind. One layer of this and muah. Perfection.
If you haven't tried these out, give them a whirl. Or maybe don't, your wallet won't forgive you. Mine hasn't. *sigh*
