If you want a natural look or expect this to be a higher coverage foundation with all the characteristics of Healthy Mix / Radiance Reveal, turn your head and find something else. This is a very thick, very matte foundation with great pigmentation that will give you a made up look. Needless to say it'll also flatten your complexion so you need to take out your arsenal of blush, bronzer, lipstick etc. This is not your everyday, slap-and-go foundation unless you are lucky enough to find a shade that matches you 100% & have non problematic skin. Overall, it is a very decent foundation but not without flaws.
If you have flaky and/or dry skin: do not use this straight up with a brush. It'll be a nightmare as it's extremely unforgiving on flakes. Using a wet sponge or spritzing your brush with water will give you a better result. I normally go in circles with sponge or brush for the first layer, then stipple around necessary areas for the second layer. If you are VERY dry or super flaky, I doubt this will work.
If you have big pores: mix with a lighter foundation, use primer, or apply with your fingers to warm it up before using a sponge for finishing touches. It has the tendency to cake up and settle into pores at the end of the day, which in my opinion, is the biggest downfall of Flower Perfection although it has to be noted that it stays on my extremely oily face for a decent 7-8 hours before oils break through. Powder (for my skin) is a must.
Colour: the very limited selection looks yellow, but when applied it's more neutral than HM / RR, which might be good or bad depending on what you need. I find the colour oxidizes a bit.
Cleansing: it's not like paint that stick to your face, so that's a plus as it has less chance of breaking you out.
Verdict: 3 rating. I can see why people are divided about this; either you love it or you don't. I like its versatility in the sense that I can play it up by using it on its own (note: with the aid of a wet sponge/brush and all the hassle of washing it afterwards) or play it down by mixing it with other foundations with lighter coverage and less staying power. 1 layer for a fresh look, 2 layers for a party look. Never ever layer it more than twice because you’ll end up with a mask face. Sometimes I also use it straight up as a concealer. I can't give it a rating of 4 because I'm not happy with its tendency to cake and settle in pores & I find the finish isn't as subtle or polished as I'd like it to be, although this may come from the colour issue. I am extremely yellow and 51 in Flower Perfection is just not yellow enough.
Repurchase: Yes. It might not be HG but it's a good one to keep in my rotation. Greater oil control than WnW Coverall although the colour is a bit off (too neutral for me) and the finish isn't as sophisticated as ELDW / ELDWL but its staying power is on par with these.
For reference: NC15-20, Laura Mercier Soft Porcelain, HM/RR 51, ELDW 1N2 Ecru, ELDWL intensity 0,5, WnW Coverall 815 Fair
I'm i fun of bourjois' foundations but not this one. The formula of this is thick, and the shade which I got is 52, it is way too pink and white for me! I don't know why, normally I was matched by 52 by healthy mix/ serum perfectly! As to this, I think it is like I'm wearing a mask on my face! Not smooth not natural
I very much like this foundation. It's very different than Bourjois Healty Mix, so if you are wanting a similar foundation to Healthy Mix, this is not the foundation for you.
The foundation is much heavier coverage, more of a matte finish.
Good lasting time (just dont layer on too much or it will crease)
gives you 'perfect' skin
One of my favourite things to do is to mix this with Healthy Mix to get a sort of 'in the middle' foundation - the luminosity of healthy mix and the better coverage of flower perfection.
Can crease/ settle into lines if too much is applied.
Can be felt on the skin
Overall, I will buy this foundation again and I have repurchased. I think this foundation would suit oilier skin types and possibly wont worker well on dry skin. For reference I am NC15 and am 51 in Flower Perfection.
Honestly one of the best foundations I've had full coverage which I love! I only use this product when I tan because I can't get a light enough one for my skin tone! The sponge is pretty rubbish so just use my own method! The bad thing is this has been discontinued from the boots and SuperDrug in my town and can't seem to find it anywhere. If I did see it I would buy it again any day.
This foundation is fine, but I still can't wait to use it all up. After I had bought it, I found out, that it's too heavy for me. It has high coverage, so it gives you that obviously made-up look, which I don't like. The consistency is thick, but not too much. I apply with fingers. I have never used to sponge. I have it in shade 51, which is too yellow for me. I would prefer more pink undertones. Staying power is good, but my skin is dehydrated, which means I have dry patches when I start applying and after a few hours I get oily. I would say it stays for 4 to 6 hours and then it needs touching up. I don't use powder over it, because it has a matte drying effect. I recommend using a good moisturizer under it, because if you're dry like me, you're gonna get obvious dry patches. The smell is quite pleasant. If you want higher coverage and good staying power and your skin is more on the oily side, then buy this. For me, this foundation looks too cakey, but I will continue to use it now during the winter.
First off- the sponge thing on the lid is offensively crap! Soaks it all up so that went straight in the bin. The foundation offers good coverage, but requires a well moisturised and primed face to stop in dragging on dry patches and drying too quickly before properly rubbed in. Fingers are best tool for application. Wouldn't buy again as requires a bit too much graft to make it look nice. Also loads of product lined he glass bottle edge that had to be ditched as impossible to pump out or remove lid to scrap out - and I hate waste!
I will never ever buy this product. It's thick and has full coverage; thought this would be a plus. Does not go on so well ... ... ... also, doesn't stay on as well, expecially under the eyes - no wonder, it's so thick, it can't 'settle down' on the skin. I prefer much lighter foundations, water based; and if concealing needed, will rather invest in a good concealer/corrector.
God I hate this..
This foundation clings to my dry patches and slides off my oily parts!
Also it lasts about an hour. I don't know what else to say, it's so bad!
I would not recommend to anyone
This is a great foundation for combination skin, I find: it helps with oily pores while does not highlight dry parts. It is very long lasting. In my thirties, I have some tiny wrinkles too and they look smaller with this foundation (but I always use primers!).
It has medium coverage which can be sheered out into light (using a wet sponge) or built into medium-full (tap on your dark circles). When I use it, I skip concealers or correctors, it does the job. It still looks natural! The best thing about this foundation is that it stays put for the whole day. As I have an oily T-zone, I cannot say about many products that I can use them without setting powder and they would still look good in the evening. This one does not emphasise my pores, neither it does my dry cheeks.
I am not in love with the bottle, but be it.
There are two key troubles about the foundation, though:
(1) The colour range is not great. I am pale with neutral undertones, but rather cool than warm and somewhat greenish (olive). Anybody with such a shade knows how tough it is to find any matching foundation. The shade 52 vanilla does it for me in spring and autumn. However, in winter I need it paler (51 is too orangey on me), in summer I need it darker (I could not find a matching shade either).
If you use other Bourjois foundations, watch out too, the consistency between the names/numbers of shades between their different products is very poor. For example, their 51 can range from very light yellow-undertone (Healthy mixture) to much darker peachy or pinkish shade (Happy light)!
If they had this product in my winter and summer shades too, I would go for it for sure. I prefer it to many high-end products I have tried.
(2) They seem to be disappearing from shelves in shops, and I really hope that does not mean it has been discontinued!
If anybody who loves this foundation reads this: which other foundation works in a similar way for you? Any tips for the pale/neutral-cool/olive skin too? Thanks!
I found out about this product from youtube and beauty bloggers. Initially, I wanted to try out the Bourjois healthy mix serum and foundation but found that it only provided light coverage, and for a girl with a lot of breakouts, scarring, blackheads and large pores I figured that I should probably spend my money on a higher coverage foundation, so after a bit of research I came across the Bourjois Flower Perfection foundation.
The foundation comes in 7 shades in my local drugstore for a cost of 16 euros each. I'm only 17 with an allowance of 50 euros a month, so I was a bit wary to get it because of the slightly high price (although I think that this would be relatively cheap compared to high end foundations), but was desperate for something to cover my horrible skin.
The foundation is quite thick, however not as thick as revlon colorstay, and not as thin as the L'oreal true match foundation. I find the consistency nice enough that I can spread it all over my face, with only a bit of stretching as I rub it into the skin.
It takes a while for the foundation to sink well into the skin and not look like I caked it all over, however the outcome is wonderful. The coverage is high, and I only need two coats of single pumps of the foundation to completely cover my skin. It definitely gives your face an 'I'm wearing foundation!' look, as you can't see your own skin through the foundation, however it does not feel heavy or thick on the skin itself. Sometimes on my walks to school I would ask myself if I had forgotten to put on foundation in the morning, and would have to touch my face to feel if I did.
The foundation rubs off easily even when I set it with powder. On days when I have a cold I would lightly blow my nose and foundation would come off onto the tissue (however I think this happens to 99% of foundations), and in school I would lightly scratch my face and then touch my paper and foundation marks would rub off onto it (tip: you can easily erase the foundation marks on paper using a black eraser, but if you use a white eraser the foundation will spread and make it worse). The foundation does oxidise a shade darker than it's initial shade, so take that into account when choosing your shade.
Overall, I absolutely love this foundation and would repurchase endlessly until I find my HG!
