LOVE this palette! I'm fair skinned with dark blue eyes and always turn my nose up at those other blue eyes palettes that contain blue eye shadow. I'm not a fan of blue eye shadow in general and I'm of the belief that using the same color as your eyes will only draw away from and will not enhance your eye color. So I was thrilled when this palette didn't contain any blue eye shadow.
My skin tone is actually cool but I personally love the warm tones of these eye shadows, as well as the fact that they are quite neutral. It comes with six shadows, one for a soft look and one for a more dramatic look. The brush is nice too, one end is a good flat brush for applying color all over and the other a smaller point for precision application.
I've found that I can make this work for the office or for a night out and I like that they give you a shimmery sorbet as well as a matte orange color. I happen to love an orange tone on blue eyes as long as its faint - which these are.
My only complaint is that the "soft" look contains all shimmery shadows, which can be a bit much all at once, but easy enough to mix in the other shadows for some matte on there. The only reason this is not a 5 for me is the price is a bit steep. The quality is wonderful but $50 is still a lot to stomach.
I am a huge fan of this palette. Although I do not have blue eyes, I find the shades extremely diverse. Anyone can use this palette as the colors are very warm and safe. I have been using this palette almost everyday. I will most likely buy a back up of this.
It's generally known that browns and bronzes really make blue eyes stand out, so it would make sense that this palette would contain colors in that range. However, this would have been an incredible product if it wasn't SO warm.
The color range is what keeps this from being spectacular. There's a nice ivory with very subtle shimmer, a lovely taupe, a matte brown, a shimmery (very pigmented!) dark brown, and.... not one, but TWO melon-y oranges. It's the fact that there are two almost identical almost-unwearable oranges in this palette.
Usually I don't judge colors based on how they look on me (heck, it's partially my fault for choosing the colors after all), but Smashbox seemed to forget that a good number of people with naturally blue eyes just can't pull off super-warm colors. This is marketed at blue-eyed people; you'd think they'd replace one of the oranges with a gray or something to compliment the taupe better.
That said, the quality is excellent and this is a good value at $42. The shadows are quite buttery and last all day over a primer. They're very blendable.
This could have been amazing. If you have blue eyes, can wear MAC Woodwinked and not look like you have the flu and don't have similar colors already, this is a great palette to add to your makeup bag.
