Since I fell in love with the Good Spin Pins, I decided to give the rest of the Simple Styles collection a look. The Twisty Comb caught my eye. It gives a twisted side ponytail look, and doesn't need elastics. It was around $6 at Target.
The directions are incredibly confusing, and it's so new that it doesn't have anything on the internet that explains how to do it. After many failed attempts, my coworker gave it a try and was able to figure it out.
To use:
1. Twist your hair in a low side ponytail. Do not use a hair tie.
2. Take the comb, with the back side/concave side facing up (the not glossy side) and slide it towards your ear through the base of the ponytail. (this is where the directions confused me -- it says the "curved side" up, but both sides are curvy).
3. Here's where it gets tricky: Rotate the comb in around the ponytail until it secures itself in the hair. This is the hardest part to get right.
The look is awesome, but maybe my hair isn't right for this. I have fine hair, but a lot of it. It fell out of my hair after a half hour. As in, literally fell to the ground.
I tried it on my coworker who has thick hair, and it wouldn't even go in for her.
So, yeah, the concept is great. If my hair was right for it I'd buy it again. It does take a lot of practice, and if you can get it to stay, it's totally worth it.
