I really should have known better. I mean, I know that ghee is clarified butter. And I should have asked myself if I really wanted to rub that under my eyes before ordering. By the time I figured out that I disliked this product (I waited to finish up another eye cream before opening it), I couldn't return it (short window for online returns), so I soldiered through the jar.
I could not stand the smell at first, but it's faded a bit with age. It smelled like I had saffron rice cooking right next to my nose- a bit too strong for me. I seriously thought I'd have to chuck the whole jar as the scent was so pungent initially. And the consistency is so greasy that I just cannot wear it during the day, even just a little bit. I had to buy a separate eye cream for use during the day, and reserve this for the evening.
In the summer I was staying somewhere without AC and on hot days this did what butter does in the heat- it turned into a liquid. I quickly learned to put it in the fridge.
I've read a great deal about the benefits of ghee in ayurvedic skincare and medicine, but this is one ayurvedic remedy I think I'm happier not using.
