I have been using this product since April 1st, except for April 27-May 10 due to a car accident. My skin is oily, I get hormonal acne, and sometimes the occasional zit. I started out with a lot really dark post acne pigmentation on my chin (2/3 of the area) and a couple on my cheeks. Before my accident, I used this in the morning, and sometimes at night under another lotion. Since May 11, I use it morning and night.
I see a huge difference. Some of those spots on my chin had been there for months, some even a yr or so. Most of them are gone, and the big ones are very much diminished. The ones on my cheeks are gone completely. I use a pea sized amount for my whole face.
I like the light gel-lotion consistency bc it doesn't contribute to my oily skin. The tube is annoying bc it isn't flexible though it is the way it is to protect the ingredients. Maybe a dark colored airless pump would be better, but more expensive. I got this on sale for around $8. Since my skin likes it, if I had to pay full price, I would.

Being a teen, I have acne marks/scars. I bought this hoping it would get rid of those marks, but soon realized it works great for evening out your skin tone! It immediately soothes redness and now I hardly get any! I have seen a slight difference in the size of my acne marks but they're still there. I love the smell of this, and like how it glides on. I've been using this for about 8 weeks, and still have a fair amount of product left. I wouldn't repurchase only because I want something that will help with my marks, but if you want something to help with skin tone, TRY THIS!

Saw commercial on this and decided to give this a try. Very disappointed
as I have used half the tube and have seen NO change at all. Think this product is a waste of money and time. Doesn't live up to it's claim.

I just want to give a background on my skin:
fair/
very oily/combination
acne prone
SEVERAL post acne marks
My dermatologist has me on clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide 5% to help with the acne; however, I do not think that acne is my main concern anymore. My post acne marks are FAR MORE WORSE than my occasional breakouts. I got a free sample of Dr. Weill's mega bright serum or something like that and when I woke up the next morning, I could tell a HUGE difference. Unfortunately I ran out and couldn't afford the $55 price tag. I did a search and decided to give this a try; and man, I hit the mother load! It wasn't as fast as the serum I tried, but slowly but surely all my post acne marks are disappearing and giving me a more even toned skin! i'm so excited because these are marks I have had for 5+ years! I have used this for a week, and I cannot wait to see the results after every single day I apply it! I apply it twice a day in replace of my old moisturizer. I am the kind of girl who would die if I left the house without foundation on, but today, I went to Target with a light powder and NO CONCEALER on and I was perfectly fine! Love this product and I HIGHLY recommend it before trying the expensive products! (by the way it does NOT help my acne, just the post acne marks and discoloration....) I didn't give it 5 stars because I HATE the packaging...I don't like the metal container and would prefer anything BUT that lol

EDIT: Having been using this for a little over a month, I am pretty pleased. One more lippy! It has faded my post-acne marks quite well! Takes a LONG time and RELIGIOUS application day and night but I do think it is a good alternative if you cannot afford the Clinique one :)
I have been using this product for about a week and at this point am not seeing any crazy difference, I will come back in a month or two with news.
After being at camp for 2 weeks, I came back with the worst breakout EVER. It was all over my temples, cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose. I have NEVER had it that bad. After about 5 or 6 months they have all gone away, and left behind the scars of war. I pick at my face when I have breakouts. I ALWAYS pop things. I know its bad... so they have left behind quite a few nasty acne scars. And I hope this product will help to fade them, if not completely make them go away.
The packaging annoys the living hell out of me. When you first open it the cap is in two pieces, the top piece screws off (with lots of effort) to reveal the pointy tube that dispenses the product. However, the opening into the tube is sealed with a metal-y thingy, which you are supposed to poke with the pointy nozzle. So I followed the instructions and I ended up squirting a ton of product on myself! SO ANNOYING!!!
HOWEVER, I do like the way this smells. Like A LOT. I have always loved the way Garnier products smelled :3 The texture of it is very similar to a watery moisturizer and I tend to overdue to it a little sometimes xD
It was about 15 dollars for a 1.7 fl.oz. tube and it should last me a good long time, and even if it doesn't end up fading the spots I will continue to use it for the Vitamin C content which is very beneficial to the skin :)
I can't really say if this actually works because I haven't used it long enough but I will check back in a few months with the final results :)

I am a very fair skinned gal. Even though I have shunned the sun most of my life, at 42, I have noticed some areas of slight discoloration starting to appear, mostly near my hairline. Also, I am very oily skinned and still struggle with breakouts from time to time. Pale skin unfortunately, is prone to hyperpigmentation when it is healing and those marks can last a very, very long time. And finally, due to aging, my skin is just losing the evenness and clarity that it had in my younger years.
I have tried several products in an effort to even out my skin tone and fade those dark areas. Retinols and Peptides didn't' seem to help much, although they did improve the overall condition of my skin.
I'll admit, I wasn't impressed with this at first. It's very heavy and somewhat sticky, so it did not seem like a good fit for my oily skin. It exacerbated my oiliness drastically, so I realized pretty quickly that there is no way I could use it during the day or under makeup. But as a night treatment, it has turned out to work very well.
And the results cannot be disputed. The emerging age/sun spots I was so worried about have disappeared entirely and the dark hyperpigmentation from several bad breakouts that I had has faded dramatically. The evenness of my skintone has improved as well and it seems more hydrated and has better elasticity. It hasn't done much for the fine lines around my eyes, but it doesn't claim to and I wasn't expecting it to.
This is not a product that will work overnight. You have to be patient and consistent with use. I'd say it took a good 8 weeks to correct the damage that had been done. I'm hoping with consistent use it will prevent any more from occurring.
I'm impressed and I will continue to buy this product. As an aside, the metal tube is meant to keep the active ingredients stable as they can degrade with exposure to light.

I am more than halfway through the tube and can say this - the product turns my face into a major oil slick each time and does nothing to treat my dark spots after 3 months of use. I did notice a general brightening of my complexion, but I did not get it for brightening - I got it to lighten a few age spots that have popped up! Also, another thing to note is that it has a very strong citrus scent. I liked it at first, but as I kept using it on a daily basis, I gradually got sick of it. It is VERY strong, like all of Garnier's products. What exactly are they hiding?? I can't even finish the tube at this point and have moved on to Philosophy Dark Spot Corrector. (Will review that in a few months.)

I was intrigued by the initial glowing reviews and so I splurged on a tube. I shopped around but I find that Rite Aid sells it $1 cheaper than most places. Suffice it to say that it didn't do much for me either. I mainly used it at night. I've been plagued with acne for a long time so I'm not sure if this product exacerbated it. I will likely never repurchase a lightening item from a drugstore again. Spend your $20 on something else worth using.

I purchased Garnier's Skin Renew Clinical Dark Spot Corrector about 2 months ago at Wal-Mart (I don't remember the price but I believe it was CDN $12-$20) and I've been using it once a day (at night), three days a week (but every other day). I bought this after reading the reviews on here, hoping it would lighten dark areas on my face and neck (especially my under eye circles) and, hopefully, to eventually lighten up my overall skin tone. I haven't noticed a difference in this regard but it's only been two months and I don't use it everyday (my general rule of thumb is to use a product slowly at first, building up "tolerance" over time and then to use it for at least 3-6 months before I decide if it's actually doing anything for me). I do believe, however, this product is giving me whiteheads! I've read some of the reviews and apparently it's fairly common to get acne from this but I'm going to continue using it, hoping my skin will get used to it and go back to normal.
I'm not a fan of the packaging (metal squeeze tube) since I prefer pump bottles but I guess it's the best packaging for the ingredients (apparently vitamin C goes bad pretty fast if not stored properly).
I will update as I finish my first tube!
UPDATE: I'm finished my first tube. I initially used this nights only for 3 days a week (every other day) but for the past 2 weeks or so, I've been using it nights only for five days a week (Mondays through Fridays) and unfortunately I don't see any difference in my hyperpigmentation or overall skin tone. And it's still giving me more whiteheads than usual! I already bought another tube though so hopefully if I use this a little longer I will see a difference. *fingers crossed*
UPDATE: I'm on my second (or third?) tube and I don't see any difference concerning my dark spots or anything else - except that I believe this product is still giving me a whitehead or two. For the past 3-4 months or so, I've been cleansing my skin with a papaya soap (which is supposed to exfoliate the skin) in hopes that the soap would help prep my skin for this product. I don't use Garnier as much as I used to anymore because of the whole acne thing, so I've been using this maybe 3 days a week (with days inbetween). On my "off" days, I will use 100% pure sweet almond oil as a moisturizer and have also incorporated a Neutrogena facial treatment (with retinol) when I'm not using Garnier or the almond oil. I'm just going to finish this tube and maybe find a better dark spot corrector.

I've had acne scars on both sides of my cheeks and lower face for 2+ years from cystic acne and desperately tried to get rid of them through acne fading creams with hydroquinone as the main ingredient and prescribed creams from my dermatologist.
It wasn't until I started using L'Oreal's Skin Genesis Pore Minimizer serum did my acne scars began to fade and then I realized - skin cell turnover is key in fading scars. But I wanted something that was going to speed up the process so I purchased the Garnier Spot Corrector.
I bought the Garnier Spot Corrector with a coupon so it was around 14$ for me, usually around 16$. The packaging is a green metal tube and there is 1.7 oz of product in it - almost double my L'Oreal Pore Minimizer. The smell is a bit flowery and fruity and doesn't bother me but my boyfriend dislikes it so I can see how it could be bothersome.
I have been using it day and night since January 11, 2012 and have received amazing results. It needs a couple seconds or two to absorb and it wears well under my other SPF moisturizer. My acne scars have faded tremendously and my skin is definitely more even toned and brighter. No single product has ever worked this well for me before. My boyfriend always assumes I'm wearing foundation even when I'm not - anyone with acne scars knows that this is HUGE since we are always self conscious about how our skin looks!
Though I am not acne prone (anymore) I have had zero breakouts from this product and it has actually sped up the healing process on new acne scars.
I will continue using this product until it runs out. I'll admit it...I am very liberal in my application and am surprised that so much product (a little over a half a tube) is still left after all this time!
My advice to people with acne scars: use a vitamin c serum (or any serum like the L'Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizer) to speed up cell turnover, exfoliate regularly (Olay Skin Smoothing scrub works well for me), wear SPF 15-30 daily, and GIVE IT TIME...if you are expecting an overnight miracle, you won't get it from any product.
UPDATE: I still have a little bit of the tube left and have resigned to only using it at night to save as much as I can. It still works wonders and my acne scars are almost completely faded. I'm obsessed.

I wanted this to work so very badly. I even gave it much longer than the recommended time to see an improvement. Sadly, it didn't make any difference on my sun spots.
That said, as a moisturizer...it was not bad. I loved the smell, fast absorbing and light. The metal tube with the spout is a little annoying, as the product oozes out after you've squeezed. I won't buy it again though. It didn't perform as promised.

I bought this product after reading the reviews to treat sun damage spots on the side of my face. After more than 5 weeks and having used up almost the entire tube (applied morning and night, concentrating on the sun-damaged areas), I am sad to report that this has done absolutely nothing. The dark spots are still there, and have not even marginally faded. I feel like I have wasted my money, but fortunately this was not overly expensive at $16. I definitely will not be buying this again.
I think this may work better on very young skin with acne spots/scars, but it does not do the trick on sun spots.
This product also was not moisturizing enough, yet it was sticky at the same time, which made for an odd consistency. I had to apply my regular moisturizer after about 15 minutes once this had absorbed into my skin.
I also do not like the metal tube packaging, which causes product to continuously ooze out of the opening when squeezed ever so slightly. This was worse when the tube was full.
I really wanted this to work and gave it a fair chance, but to anyone over 35 with hopes of reversing sun damage, please don’t waste your money.

I purchased this product based on the hopes it would lighten my acne dark spots and even out my face on the upper check area and chin. I have been using garnier dark spot treatment for 3 weeks, and I dont think it really agrees with my skin. I have oily skin and even though it helped in the begining it dryed my skin out causing peeling. It may work for lighter skin tones but it really not that effective on darker skin tones.

First and foremost, the one that I just bought does not look like this container. Mine has a white tip which is slimmer than the whole tube. And now the review: My skin is super sensitive, which means I cannot use everything. My skin gets dehydrated and then super oily and then acne becomes my best friend. This is the vicious cycle that is making me crazy. So when it comes to acne, I have no patience. I pop them and I am proud of it because I cannot stand them. Then the acne spots stay till eternity. Bio-oil certainly helps but it can also be clogging. This, on the other hand, it is not as greasy and works very well. Within a couple of times of usage, you would notice the difference in your skin. It does even out my skin and it is not irritating. You definitely see fading in the dark spots without any negative reactions. After all, vitamin C is good for the skin and the high dosage in this one seems to do wonders for my skin. My skin is indeed 10 thousand time better. Highly recommended!

I give this 3 lippies but I would not repurchase. I will explain why..I had high hopes for this. It was my first time using a vitamin c product with a "high" Vitamin C percentage. apparently this is the highest percentage you can find in a drugstore product? This made me hopeful. Read some glowing reviews so that was good. Bought it, came home, applied it and knocked out looking really icky after an exam and no sleep. usually after i wake up from a nap where i've literally passed out from exhaustion i will feel better but skin looks worse lol..swollen face, gray..(yes, gray lol!) but my skin looked bright, no swollen face, and calm! was soooo happy. but after using this for a few months and coming close to have finished the bottle i don't find it amazing anymore. it's like it worked for maybe 3 weeks? then the honeymoon was over. it now does nothing for me:s bit sticky to the touch when first applied..but smells fresh and citrusy. nice texture. not moisturizing enough for me as a night treatment so i used it as a serum under a heavy moisturizer. but I assume for normal skinned gals this would be perfect.
the price was pretty awesome, no lie. usually drugstore product prices in canada make me think i might as well buy high end..with only a few dollars difference. but for a good sized bottle (think serum sized bottle) i paid $16 CND. but if i am going to spend my hard earned cash id rather spend a bit more and get something that I know is giving me results. maybe i expected too much from this because i've done sooo much research on skin brightening/lightening and have heard the praises of vitamin c. but maybe someone with pigmentation problems like me should go up much higher in strength of vitamin c. so even though my skin looks the same as when i started this product a few months ago i will give vit c another try just NOT in the form of this product.

So after I managed to get my skin cleared up to the best it's been in ten years or so (with the help of Clinique's Clearing Moisturizer and Olay's Oil-Free Toner with Witch Hazel) I wanted to get to work on clearing my dark spots. I have light olive skin and am prone to hyperpigmentation. After only two weeks, my most recent spots are fading, so I can say this is definitely working. The scent is nearly nonexistant, the packaging is wonderful as the metal tube keeps the Vitamin C from degrading from light exposure, and the consistency is nice. However, and for me this is a big however--it is SO. greasy.
I know, everyone else here says it is not, so I can't really explain it. I do have really oily skin that hasn't been tamed by really any product ever, but MAN, when I put this on, about an hour later I have insanely oily skin--it makes my skin feel almost dirty and sticky. :C Weirdly despite this I have had only the tiniest of breakouts in one area of my whole face while using this--and I use it all over my face and my neck. So I'll probably use the whole tube but after, I'm not sure I'd want to purchase again. I mean great, no dark spots, but having makeup slide off my face in just an hour?! Jeez.

First I would like to give a background on my skin.
It is super sensitive to the point that it breaks out if someone touches my face. I cannot exfoliate. I am allergic to sunscreen, I can't have fragrance in my products, and I have/had a bad case of cystic acne. Which means major acne scarring.
I was first looking for a regimen to help control the cystic acne, and now I can say I think I found one. Then it was on to fading my acne scars.
I tried Lancome's Bright Expert and that REALLY broke me out. I tried using lemon and that dried me out. Then I saw this and figured if it breaks me out I would only be a step backwards and can fix it with my benzoyl peroxide.
The first week I used it day and night. It certainly gave me some breakouts but not the cystic ones, so I knew that was just my skin adjusting to the moisturizer. Then after a while my skin started feeling sensitive so I stopped using it a few days. I started using it again but only in the A.M. and that is when I saw the real benefits of it. I continue to use it as so, and am almost at the end of the bottle and have a backup ready.
This product has done such a great job at reducing my scars that now for the first time in 5 years, I was able to walk to the supermarket with no makeup on my face. The scars are not completely gone, but I know the longer I use the moisturizer the more the scars will fade away. My face used to practically have a beard pattern of scarring where the cystic acne was. Now I have a little patch by my chin and 3 dots on my one cheek.
Thank you for giving me my skin back Garnier.

I have a few dark spots left over from pimples, two in particular that are really big and bothering me (one on my chin and one on the center of my nose). I was using Clinique's dark spot corrector for a while but didn't see much of a difference, so I decided to try this.
On top of putting it on my dark spots, I decided to put it all over to achieve a "brighter" look, but the next morning I woke up with pimples ALL OVER my face. I've been breaking out recently because I just stopped using birth control around 6 month ago, but this breakout was the worst it's even been and this is because of the product. Besides breaking out, my face became red and felt burnt.
I've discontinued use and will not be using this again. I'll go to the dermatologist instead.

Acne-pront/sensitive skin/combo skin... beware. May be just me, but this destroyed my skin so bad after finally having relief from using Accutane 2 yrs ago. I wanted to work on fading the spots - i should just have went to my derm and gotten a Rx for Retin A. Instead, i wanted to be lazy and cheap and got this stuff. At first, seemed harmless, then, horrible cystic and nodular acne all over. The fragrance doesn't help. When I did finally go see my derm and told her what happened, she was so pissed... she says she sees so many ppl who try Garnier skincare and have problems with it - it's not exactly their forte, i guess. She hates their products for skin. Now I know why and learned the hard way. :( Just go see a derm or research OTC retinols/AHAs/BHAs on the skincare board here!
