I used to really like the old formula that came in the teal bottle. Although a bit smelly, it helped with my KP and the skin on my arms was almost normal. For the price it was absolutely great. They seem to have discontinued it (at least in the UK) and replaced with a new lotion called 'Anti-aging Smoothing' which comes in a white bottle. Unfortunately I had to through away the bottle after two days because the smell is so unbearable. It almost makes me physically sick. I bought as many bottles of the old stock as I could lay my hands on and I only have 1 left. Back to the drawing board after that. Palmer's, please fix the smell!
OK I am torn over this product. On the one hand, it is soooo stinky and so bad for you in terms of nasty chemical ingredients. On the other hand, it absolutely works like nothing else! I'm not sure if I'll buy it again, but here's my experience using it.
I bought this because of the reviews here saying it helped with keratosis pilaris, which I have on the back of my arms. I'm pretty sure that twice-daily applications after showering for almost two months have greatly improved my kp - most of the bumps have smoothed down but the hyperpigmentation remains and it still doesn't look normal. I will use up my bottle to see if my kp can improve further with this, but at the moment it doesn't seem to be getting any better (it's maybe 60-70% better). I'm also hesitant about using this lotion long-term because of the whole host of nasties in the chemical formulation. Also, the smell!!
I also used this on my bacne, and after the same amount of time, it has completely cleared up! This is a huge deal for me. I had thought bacne was just something I was going to have to live with. Now I'm trying to lighten the dark brown acne spots left behind and this seems to be happening too! And another unexpected plus point is my immunization scars have gotten a lot less noticeable as a side effect of using the lotion, so this is all pretty miraculous for me. I'm hoping that once I've eliminated my acne and uneven skin tone, I can stop using the product, fingers crossed, because the smell really is terrible.
I also tried using this to fade acne marks on my jawline, and this works well - almost overnight, but I try to do this sparingly (I don't get much facial acne anyway) because the aha's increase sun sensitivity.
So... what to do. This is a very stinky, very chemical (filled with parabens, with a very high ewg skin deep toxicity rating), but very effective lotion. I will definitely use up my bottle, and continue to monitor progress on the kp, but despite how effective it's been I hope I won't have to use this long term.

I was excited by the AHA/BHA contents and wanted a product that would help make my skin very soft and well moisturised. I used this as a daily after shower all over body lotion for a few weekst.
I found the flip top annoying because you have to use a nail to flick it open. And the flat wide bottle means holding it upside down to get the product out isn't the easiest, especially if you're in a steamy bathroom or already have moisturiser on your hands. The lotion didn't have much of a scent and it certainly didn't leave any on the skin after application but did have a more 'chemical' type smell than the classic coco butter Palmer does.
The formula itself is thin to average thickness for a body lotion and sinks in right away. I noticed after a few weeks that the skin on my legs was very very smooth but also tight feeling and extremely dry. So whatever else it might be good for this is a moisturiser that doesn't moisturise. In fact it actively dried my skin out. I'd have been better off using nothing at all. I would not repurchase or recommend it to anyone for anything.
I had been searching desperately for a reasonably priced, effective chemical exfoliator at the drugstore after Olay discontinued their BHA face lotion here (doesn't seem be popular around these parts; right now only the fancy French brands like Vichy and Avene seem to have any and they are $$ and tiny, and DHC's BHA toner doesn't seem to do anything!! should write a review for that too).
This lotion contains lactic acid, salicylic acid, fruit enzymes and Vit E. It isn't the most moisturising lotion in the world, but if you are looking for a cheap drugstore exfoliator that really, really works, Palmer is your man. I use this on my face and the results it gives me makes me easily forgive the horrible cheap-cologne scent. I started breaking out in cystic acne again about 6 months post-Accutane but this has helped SO much to bring my skin back under control that now, I hardly have any more breakouts, and my scars are fading away.
I've just bought a second bottle after finishing an entire bottle just for my face, and I pray to the gods of Watson and Caring that they don't stop carrying this.

well my third day using it. bought it in africa almost double the price its sold in States or UK. i guess i like what it promises to do. I am excited to see some of the results people are raving about. 3 days into using it
(and scrubbing i should add) my skin does feel smoother. am waiting for scars and kp on my knees elbows and back to go. will keep everyone posted
OH MY GOD! This stuff is brilliant. I've been using it everywhere, even my face, for the past few weeks and my skin has never felt so soft and beautiful. It's permanent too, I get out of the shower and it's still soft and hydrated. Hubby has noticed how soft my skin is feeling too. I'm not too keen on the smell of the product but I've never known anything really work as well as this before. Absolute HG product and a bargain too.

Description, the bottle I have comes with a pump and contains 13.5 oz (U.S) or 400 ml. The label reads, "Coccoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E, For Dry, Ashy Skin, Shea Butter & Alpha/Beta Hydroxy, removes dry skin cells, reveals younger looking skin". I included that because some reviews differ in the desription but this is the only Palmers lotion I have found containing AHA/BHA. The scent is reminiscent of other Palmer products, yes cocoa butter, but others are right in saying its not the same scent as the other lotions. There is a definite chemical smell but I don't find it really objectionable. Its not a deal breaker for me as I use it before bed and in the day if I apply I still only smell my perfume not this. Its a beige lotion that's thinner in viscosity than the original palmers but I don't find it runny nor watery as some have said. I have only used this 2 weeks and truly prefer to write skin care reviews after more time has passed. I will update as I use this lotion more and see more beneficial changes in my skin or not. I have a dry skin condition, none of my moisture glands function normally. I have extremely dry skin and had never used any AHA nor BHA products on my body. Though my elbows look normal, the skin there has been painfully dry for several years and nothing changed that. But my elbows feel baby soft again for the first time in years. The lotion absorbs quickly, with no film left behind . I have bought a lot of lotions that go unused although I always need moisturizer applied daily. I just don't like them enough or find they don't do much. I know I will use this to the last drop and that's very rare for me. In fact I bought a bottle for my sister telling her she had to try it.

this is my favourite body lotion. and I'm very lazy with lotions....but I love to use this one since it actually DOES something: I don't have any small pimples from dryness anymore because of this, my elbows and knees are soft any rosy because of this, my stretchmarks on the sides of my butt look MUCH better because of this,my skin on my body looks even-toned and is sooo soft! I have very thick black hair on my legs... it is terrible, I sometimes have 3 hair coming out of 1 pore (!!!) (gross, I know...) so I had major trouble with ingrowns, this doesn't take care of it completely but it is 80% better than before. I even use this once a week on my face if I want that AHA/BHA action in low doses and don't want to load my face with moisturizers. It hydrates enough if my face feels normal and not too dry and doesn't clog my acne-prone skin. the scent isn't great but it doesn't make me gag like the original palmer cocoa lotion scent and it fades quickly. great, affordable stuff (even for me, being in germany and having to order it online...) try this!!!

I would not recommend putting this lotion on your face! Do not do it!
Stick with it for three days or more. After one day I saw a difference in the areas that were blemished, and after three days the overall look of my skin looked a lot clearer and felt quite smooth. I look forward to the results after a week, as I could swear the scars I have (cuts and things) are fading. As for bumps, I would suggest using this moisturiser in conjunction with a bristle body brush otherwise you'll see little to no results. I found that I used a lot less as a result and realised that the lotion only needs to be applied sparingly and rubbed in until dry/absorbed. The smell (when rubbed completely) seems to disappear within 10 minutes. It's not a very "moisturising" lotion, but ideally if you want ACTUAL smooth skin, as opposed to the smoothness of a moisturiser, then this is your best bet. I mean my skin is really noticeably different after I shower off the moisturiser! You'll be getting smooth skin as well as an even tone in areas that you didn't realise could change. Definitely, definitely give it a go! I will be buying again and again.

This is an amazing body treatment lotion for an unbeatable price. I use this every night and it's made an enormous difference to the skin on my legs - far more than the pretty expensive 8% AHA body lotion I previously used and at a fraction of the cost - i get this in Boots in the UK at £4 for 250ml . I apply this an night and wake up to baby- soft smooth skin, and it's also slowly but surely getting rid of those little marks I have from too much sunbathing when I was younger, not to mention preventing ingrown hairs on my legs. In the winter my legs can get so dry that the skin starts to resemble snake skin, but this lotion (combined with regular palmers cocoa butter during the day) has kept my legs smooth all winter long and gets rid of those rough patches better than any body scrub. I've also found that applying it a couple of hours before applying fake tan makes the tan apply easily, last longer and dry streak free. I see that a lot of people here complain about the scent but personally I love it - like another review mentioned it smells quite like Thierry Mugler's Angel perfume. This product is the same yellow colour as Palmer's regular Cocoa Butter lotion but the texture is thinner and I think it's probably not just as hydrating, so if you have very dry skin like me you might prefer to use this in addition to a regular lotion to get maximum smoothing and moisturising benefits.
