Oh, Stone Shimmer Wash, how I love thee! You're my favorite taupe eyeshadow of all time - not too cool, not too warm, not too gray, not too brown, no purple. Your sophisticated shimmer provides a glowy sheen that adds dimension to my lids. You're beautiful on your own as a wash, or paired with a warm gray or brown in the crease. Total perfection on my dark brown eyes & against my NC40 skintone. *swoons*
(FYI, Stone Shimmer Wash is far less brown & bronzey than it appears in the pic that someone added above. Maybe it's just the lighting, but that's not a true representation of the color; in fact, I think the photo looks more like BB Bronze Shimmer Wash or MAC Patina, neither of which Stone Shimmer Wash looks like. Also, contrary to one of the previous reviews, Stone Shimmer Wash does *not* have any red in it whatsoever.) continued >>

This is a meduim grey taupe with a lovely pearly finish. I like to use Navajo or Ivory under my brow bone, a wash of Stone up to the crease, and tightline my upper lashes. It is also a good in the crease with a light colour like Cement and easily adaptable to many different looks. I find the Shimmer Wash shadows to especially easy to blend and I've never had a problem with BB shadows creasing on me. I've seen this colour in a couple of palettes and it is available as a single which can also be used in a 3 or 6 pan palette.

Stone maxes out blue eyes and it can go business or evening. For "dressup" I use MAC blackberry in the crease with BB mahogany shadow as a liner (it is better than espresso in this case). The result is that none of these colours eclipses the other but they each work synergistically to enhance the other. Overall it is dramatic but natural. I find that when I mix more brown shades in with stone for day that it looks blah. Best to stay with grey in the crease (try BB slate or Laura Mercier Margaux) and BB graphite shimmer gel liner or granite gel liner.

A lovely, soft greyish taupe with no shimmer that has quickly become an everyday staple for me. It is easily buildable and offers a more pigmented effect than some of the other Bobbi Brown long wearing eyeshadow shades - and you will also find that the color is more intense when applied with a brush than with your fingers. (I personally like to apply these shadows with a MAC 242 Shader Brush). As advertised, this shadow lasts all day without moving or changing color, even in extreme temperatures. My hair is nearly black and my eyes are blue, and this shadow makes the color of my eyes pop even more. When I want to look casual yet polished and am a loss for what else to reach for, this is certainly a go-to product and shade. Highly recommended - in this case you definitely get your money's worth!

I bought this after falling in love with the ad image for the Stonewashed Nudes palette. Stone is a grey-brown color (mine is in the square flip-top package) that has a very nice shimmer but looks flat on me. I suppose grays + olive skin don't get along as well as I'd hoped. It wears well and is non-irritating, but ultimately not the color for me.

Stone Shimmer Wash eye shadow is very special to me. I tried it on many times, but somehow always needed other things.
Went to a free Bobbi Brown makeup class end of 0709, and the makeup artist helping suggested that I use it as my lower lid shadow. It made my eyes look instantly beautiful and turned them almost an Emerald Green (no kiddin’), and my eyes aren’t nearly that vivid naturally.. It's a shimmery grey taupe with lavender undertones. It works all on its own, in the crease, or as a subtle liner. One reviewer on MUA wrote that “You just can’t mess up Stone”, and she was right. I love wearing dark eyeliner with this shadow (really gorgeous), but I don’t have to. I can do a quick eye. Stone and a little mascara and I look polished. It’s Lovely!

if you love neutrals (brown, grey, taupe) you must own this color! shimmer wash stone is a gorgeous gorgeous soft shimmery brown (almost taupeish). it's perfect as an all over wash of color. add black eyeliner and black mascara and the eye look is done. an added bonus to the color itself, this eyeshadow goes on buttery smooth and blends like a dream. it's highly pigmented and i just have to swipe my brush once over the eyeshadow and it covers my whole lid. will always have this in my stash!

The BB stone shimmer eye shadow is a staple color for me (fair skin w/yellow undertones, dark brunette hair with blue/green eyes). It is very flattering. While it is brown, it's not a flat dull color that washes me out lik emany browns do. The shimmer is just enough to add depth but not so much that I look like a goof. I have purchased this color many, many times and will continue to do so.

Stone is described on the Bobbi Brown website as "beigy silvery brown." That's a pretty accurate description for this lovely shade. It is light to mid toned and has just enough sheen to make it interesting. The brown tones make it look natural and not harsh. I have all of Bobbi's shadows (yes, all of them), and this is one of my favorites.

Decided to purchase a couple shimmer wash eye shadows because they are an Allure "Best of Beauty" award winner. Stone is very pretty light brown taupe with shimmer. It goes on sheer and wear wells up until about 3 hours later (even with Urban Decay's Primer Potion). I noticed some creasing on the lids with this shadow which is totally unusual because I never have this problem when I use UD PP. Probably won't repurchase- going to stick with UD's shimmer shadows which are amazing and wear practically all day.

This is a beautiful taupey-grey colour. It is very soft and goes on quite sheer. While it is buildable it takes quite a few applications to achieve a very dark smokey eye. Therefore, I primarily use this for a day look. My favourite part about the shimmerwash eyeshadows is that they shimmer and not sparkle. Love this!

I swapped this away for NARS. I have stone in the new square packaging with Rock. Powder is more loose than Rock, and I can see some shimmering particles not mixed well with the powder. The coloring is good for brown-ish smoky look, very blendable. Overall it is a good eye shadow, just not a stunning one.

This is NOT a grey brown, but a red brown with a silver sheen. The shadow itself its a redish brown but with a lot of fine silver shimmers that's why in the pan it have this greyish look. I have compare this with Estee Lauder's Pure Color Duo in Mocha, NARS Earth Angel Duo, and Lunasol 04 Neutral. They look 90% identical in the pan but turns out to be quite different. BB Stone is the one with most red in there, is practically a warm brick shade with silver sheen on top; EL Mocha is the one that is true to the color, appears to be a neutral silver taupe; NARS Earth Angel is the neutral brown version of BB Stone, much darker than EL Mocha with almost matte texture; Lunasol 04 Neutral top left shade is very similar to EL Mocha but weaker in pigmentation.
I will have a pic up soon if I did not swap away any of these before I get my Camera back.

I am wearing this for the first time today with Bone and Mahogany and I am in love! I bought Stone because I loved Fawn, another Shimmer Wash. I was worried they would be too similar but that is not the case. Stone is a beautiful easy to blend slightly shimmery brownish grey of medium tone. It looks awesome as an overall wash from lid to crease. (For the record, Fawn is much more mauve and a tad darker.) I would highly HIGHLY recommend this shadow.

This shadow is a light/medium grey-brown without any red in it. It has a slight shimmer, which I love. I use it on my lids with Bone as a base and Espresso as a liner.

Very good quality eye shadow from Bobbi Brown! I bought this as a consolation after having missed out on the Stonewashed Nudes palette. Later I realized it had a little bit in common with MAC's Satin Taupe, which I absolutely love. Stone is a bit more of a plummy grey brown-taupe, while Satin Taupe have a bit more bronze brown in it. The shimmer is not super shiny like MAC Frost eye shadows, but you can identity each mica particle with ease. It goes on a little more subdued than what you see in the pot, but you can easily amplify it by using it wet. I usually reach for this eye shadow when I get tired of meticulous makeup application and just want "an easy eye". This goes on extremely smooth and even with my MAC 242 and there is not need for further blending. Very generous amount, so I doubt I'll ever finish this with my sporadic application.

Nice, shimmery (not glittery) grey-brown. It is a good, all purpose neutral shadow to give your look a bit of polish. I like to use this on its own, perhaps with liner. For someone whose time is of the essence, but likes a made-up face, this is a great shadow.

It's official... I've become a BB e/s fan. I'd lemmed Stone after trying it on at Nordstrom and when I saw it in a CCO for $13.50, I *had* to have it. (FYI--the CCO stores have the "old school" BB e/s packaging with a screw top). This was my second BB shadow and I've been impressed with them so far.
On my NW20 skin this is an awesome neutral taupe/gray with just the right amount of shimmer--this is no means OTT. It's gorgeous on and really brings out the blue in my eyes. It's what I'd hoped that MAC Shale would look like (for the record, I still like Shale, but this is better!) It's a lighter, shimmery version of Copperplate.
The texture is amazing. It's very easy to blend--it's very smooth and blends well with my MAC shadows. It's not quite as blendable over UDPP, but it lasts all day and still blends better than the average shadow.
I love it! This is one that I'll definitely repurchase, probably in the new-style packaging. I'm going to have to add to my BB e/s collection now!

This is such a beautiful color. It's neutral and natural yet gives my blue eyes an amazing pop. The shadow is finely milled which helps it blend smoothly and perfectly every time. I didn't realize how spoiled i was until I tried other, more coarsely-milled products *cough* laura mercier *cough*

I love this color. It has the perfect amount of sparkle and shimmer. Not too much, not too little- just perfect. And the color is a cross breed between purple, grey and brown...so pretty and so versatile. Makes it compatible with most wardrobe colors and other eyeshadow colors. I'm wearing it today with a light warm purple and white and blended all together it looks good. It looks even better after it has time to blend with your body heat and after 30 minutes, it looks so natural. Will buy again. but the pot is huge-bigger than a US half dollar and i think it's gonna take me a while to hit the pan. It's pretty pricey- around $19 but it's a splurge. if you want natural colors that are pretty go for bobbi brown. i think the shimmer is more grown up than MAC's big glitter sparkles.
overall, i am pretty pleased with this eyeshadow. =)
